An example of sag on the rear suspension under a heavy load.

The resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with the trailer's suspension to keep it level, which improves driving performance for your vehicle. When hauling heavy loads, you will often see the rear of the vehicle sag, while the front end raises up. In this case, the rear axle is handling not only the weight of the cargo, but more of the vehicle's weight as well. Since less weight is on the front axle, the front tires are making significantly less contact with the road, reducing traction, which decreases the vehicle's steering and stopping performance.

Under pressure, hollow rubber springs are designed to progressively support the suspension.

The Timbren system has a custom bracket that will be bolted onto the trailer frame above the axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down to where the bottom of the spring sits one inch above the axle. The inch of clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads and standard terrain, ensuring the smooth, comfortable ride you are used to.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape provides increased resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping the trailer level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's or passenger's side of the trailer. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when hauling off-center loads.

An example of a trailers swaying without Timbren SES

Timbren Suspension systems help compensate for all of the probable causes of trailer sway from unbalanced loads to gusts of wind from passing vehicles. Installing Timbren will make your trailer track better behind your vehicle and provide a safer more comfortable towing experience.

An example hauling a heavy load with and without Timbren.

When hauling heavy loads, the resistance from Timbren's hollow rubber springs will work with the trailer's suspension to raise the trailer's ride height. This is will take additional strain off of the hitch components and help the trailer ride easier.

  • Suspension Enhancement for Gooseneck Trailer With 10,000 lb Tandem Axles
There is a way to improve your ride with a trailer that has 10,000 lb tandem axles, though there are not any air suspension or equalizer upgrades. Instead the best option is the Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System with Under Steel Frame - 10,000 lbs # TTRA15252 or Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System - with Outboard Spring or Aluminum Frame - 10,000 lbs # TTRA15252A which will increase your stability and act as shock absorbers when towing. • Recommended Trailer Suspension Options for 5th Wheel Trailers
The shock mounts for trailer suspension are not available as replacement or independent parts. You would need to purchase kit # LC281255 or # LC281281. Another option that bolts to the frame of a 5th wheel are the Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System with Under Steel Frame 10,000 lbs # TTRA15252. Finally, you may want to consider the Timbren Silent Ride Suspension for Tandem Axle Trailers w/ 3" Round Axles - 7,000 lbs # TSR7000T05 which replaces leaf spring suspension systems.

  • Best Timbren Suspension Enhancement for a 2020 Keystone Cougar 34TSB Travel Trailer
The Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System # T63MR you're looking at has a weight capacity of 8,600 lbs and since your 2020 Keystone Cougar Half-Ton 34TSB Travel Trailer has a base (unloaded) weight of 8,563 lbs you'll only get help from these Timbrens when you don't have anything loaded up in the trailer. Since this is the case you'll be better off with a Timbren set that has a higher-rated capacity, like the 10K Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System with Under Steel Frame...

  • Best Way to Improve Ride of Trailer With 10,000 lb Tandem Axles
There is a way to improve the ride on your 10,000 lb tandem axle trailer, though there are not any air suspension or equalizer upgrades for axles with that much capacity. The best option is the Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System with Under Steel Frame - 10,000 lbs # TTRA15252 or Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System - with Outboard Spring or Aluminum Frame - 10,000 lbs # TTRA15252A which will increase your stability and act as shock absorbers when towing, providing...

  • Adding Shocks or Helper Springs to a Trailer to Go Off Road
To answer the last question first, trailer axles move not just up and down but front to back a little as well; especially when there is more than one axle. Having shocks at an angle is more ideal for that type of set up than ones mounted straight up and down. So between the Equa-Flex and the shocks I would go with the shocks for your purposes. Lippert has 2 shock kit options. First is # LC281281 for 3 inch diameter axles. And second is # LC281255 for 2-3/8 inch diameter axles. Another...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement for 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500
I have a solution for you, but the Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System with Under Steel Frame 10,000 lbs # TTRA15252 are designed to be used on trailers and not a truck. Instead I recommend using the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SS45FR, which are designed to help prevent sag and provide leveling support for your truck when it's under towing loads; they'll also help reduce sway and provide additional road shock absorbing, so they're a great addition that...

  • Can a Gooseneck Horse Trailer Be Raised to Avoid Making Contact with 1997 Dodge Ram 2500
I have a couple of possible solutions for you. First, though, you should check to make sure all of the suspension components are in good working order and replace any damaged or worn parts. If the axle on the trailer is a 3 inch round axle and the spring seats are currently mounted to the bottom of the axle, using the Dexter Over-Under conversion kit, # K71-385-00, that you have referenced will provide a few more inches of height. But this will also change the center of gravity of the...

  • Boat Trailer Wheels Contact Interior of Wheel Wells When Driven Over Speed Bump
We will start off with the presumption that the trailer is new, its suspension is in good order and that it is properly rated for the boat's weight. In this case you should not experience the tires contacting the inside of the wheel wells when you drive over a speed bump, nor at any other time. This kind of issue can happen when the tire size on the trailer is changed to one of a larger overall diameter. Larger tires reduce the available clearance for the normal suspension travel of most...

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for a Fifth Wheel Trailer
For suspension enhancement for a trailer we have a similar setup to an air kit, but it's actually a rubber spring instead. For a 1,000 lb axle kit you would want the part # TTRA1702. For a 7,000 lb axle kit you would want the part # TTRA1032. For a 10k axle kit you would need the # TTRA15252. Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System has hollow rubber springs that absorb the brunt of the force on the trailer's frame, helping to reduce sag and sway ensuring better handling and tracking behind...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Pulls to the Right After Making Right Hand Turns
It is possible that the trailer is heavier on the one side causing the suspension components to wear unevenly. I recommend inspecting the suspension and look for signs of excessive wear such as egg-shaped holes, flat springs, broken parts, and anything out of the ordinary. When replacing suspension parts you should do both sides of the trailer at the same time so that they wear more evenly. Something that will help the suspension to last longer is to install some helper springs. We have...

  • Trailer Suspension Enhancement Availability
We do carry trailer suspension enhancement, but not like the part # SSA2 that you referenced. Check out the link I attached to see all the Timbrens we carry that would fit your trailer. They have a wide range of weight capacities so you would need to pick the set that fits your trailer the best. You should note that these kits will not allow your trailer to carry more weight than it is rated for. It will only help support your current capacity.

The Timbren kit you'd need is based on the frame material of your 2017 Grand Design Reflection 315 RLTS travel trailer. If it's aluminum you'd need the # TTRA15252A or if it's steel you'd need the # TTRA15252. With this kit sway is reduced and trailer tracking behind the vehicle is improved.

The Firestone Standard Air Spring, # F6401, has a maximum load leveling capacity of 2,500 lbs each.
