Today in this 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan, we are going to install part number 36474 draw tite. All right now this what the hitch looks like once installed on the Tiguan. Next we'll give some measurements to help you out in selecting some accessories such as a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. On top of the receiver opening down to the ground we'll be about 15 1/2 inches. For set over hitch pinhole to the edge of the bumper will be about 3 7/8 inches. Now we'll go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. Right, first thing we need to do is go ahead and get the vehicle ready.
We need to locate an existing groove area on the bottom of the inaudible 00:00:35. Now we don't have to cut all of it, just enough for a hitch. Okay this is the cut out for the hitch and we are actually going to measure out 6 1/2 inches. We made our mark. We have to use our hitch is small enough, we'll use for it a straight edge and now we'll use a utility knife and just work our way all the way around. Go ahead and score this line.
There we go. Now if we take a look up underneath here, you'll see floor holes. That is where our hitch will bolt into. Even though that holes have been covered up for a while, there is still chance dirt and debri go inside there. We are going to spray them down some lubricant and use a tube brush to help clean them out.
The tube brush will be part number 814092. I cut the handle of mine and put it in a drill makes thing goes off faster. Be good go ahead and do test it with the bolt. Be a good feel so you know where our threads are at. Here is our hitch bolt that we had earlier and then we also added a cam fit washer which comes with the kit. We'll make sure the teeth always stays towards the hitch.
We'll go ahead and continue on installing the rest of the hardware. With all of the hardware installed, we'll go ahead and snug down the bolts and then we'll torque them down to specify the instructions, and now we'll go ahead and torque the bolts down as specified. Okay and just some few steps, our hitch is installed and ready to go. Now that finish it for part number 36474 from draw tite on our 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan. .

I would reiterate what others have written and what caused me to purchase this product from e-trailer. The product I purchased was for a 2012 VW Tiguan. The receiver arrived quickly and was easy to install. I had to cut through the underside of the rear bumper fascia but it was a breeze. Simply use a utility knife. The entire process took about 15 minutes. I plan on using the receiver mostly to secure a bike rack and I believe it will serve its purpose without fail.

My application is different than most. I mounted this upside down on a landscape trailer. This, along with a 4" rise hitch (and two sections of E-track), I'm able to securely lock the tongue of a small camper trailer I needed to transport and also carry a motorcycle at the same time.
Haven't yet installed it, but looks as advertised. Extremely pleased with customer service at etrailer. Item was on back order and Tamara kept me up to date with shipping dates and other replacement options if needed sooner. Will definitely use etrailer in the future.
The installation was straight forward and done in 15 minutes. The quality of the hitch appears to be very solid. I would recommend this for a light duty hitch. I am going to use it to hold a bike rack.
Installation was a breeze...took just 20 minutes from opening the box to having it on the Tiguan. Then slid the bike rack into the hitch, loaded on two bikes and went on our way!

I bought this hitch for my '12 VW Tiguan and it was a breeze to install. Hitch is very sturdy. Hardest part of the installation was cutting out the piece of plastic. Literally took about 15 min. to install! Great experience from etrailer. I'd definitely recommend them!

Product is exactly as advertised. Installation information is in error, they state it takes 30 minutes to install - it only takes 20 minutes. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made.

Couldn't be easier. The tiguan is set to accept the 4 bolts. Took me 15 minutes including cutting the fascia with a blade.
