2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Hitch is very heavy duty but seemed to have been delivered by Ace Ventura. Was very scratched up. Hitch bolted right up on a 2007 GMC 1500 HD. The height of the hitch exactly matched the original. Spare tire does not need to be removed. Per the instructions, you are supposed to re-use the existing aft most frame bolts. Be aware that if you use those, they only engage the weld nut by 3/16 of an inch. That is short of fully maximizing the weld nut. Ideally, the bolt threads should go all the way thru the weld nut plus about 2 threads. I replaced those aft bolts with longer ones that fully engage the weld nut. Since the new hitch does not attach to the bumper, I fabbed a custom Z bracket, using 2 pieces of angle iron, to help carry the load. The light plug assy needed to also be modified. The factory angle is 90 degrees, but the wire harness would bot engage the plug assy. I modified the plug bracket as can be seen in the photos.

Product is alright. As stated in other reviews, the cut outs for the safety chain hooks are poorly designed.

I bought this for my 02 Chevy 1500HD. It bolted on perfectly and is ideal for pulling heavier loads. I’ve pulled max payload loads for the truck with this new hitch and it has worked with no trouble. Would suggest to anyone.

by:

Website said it would fit perfectly for my 2004 Chevy 2500HD. It did not. I had no option to return as I needed to tow the following day so had to work into the night to customize it which therefore I wouldn’t be able to return. I had to use a torch to cut a section out of both sides on the hitch to have it fit around the spring shackle and had to use the torch to make a new bolt hole in the frame closest to the front for that bolt hole. Also drops the receiver an inch lower than the factory height. Was not at all happy but was thankful I had the tools to make it work. Worst thing I hate is that it’s dropped lower than the stock receiver height.

I am sorry to hear that this hitch did not fit your application. I see that this hitch is not a confirmed fit for any of the Chevy HDs. This is only a confirmed fit for the Chevy 2500LD and 1500.

by:

always a good experience with etrailer, thats why i come back.

by:

The trailer hitch is great simple installation but I had to change hooks on my chain from my trailer other than that top notch

by:

this is a way better hitch than class 3 hitch I relaced after 23 years.

by:

It's well made and installation was pretty simple. Nice early x-mas present!

Mack Trucks

I brought this to my local garage to install it, and they were amazed at the quality. They wondered if I was going to start to haul Mack trucks around or what? It has had zero defects all the holes lined up perfectly to my truck.

by:
2012 GMCSierra

Great price, quick shipping even with the pandemic going on. Had a little trouble installing this heavy duty hitch by myself but went on very easy with no issues.
I have not pulled anything yet, but don't expect any issues with this 16k rating on a 1/2 ton truck.

Awesome. Still hold strong after 1 year. Handles heavy loads without issues. Still please with this purchase and the easy of installation.

by:

Great however had to sell truck as frame gave out

by:
2005 GMCSierra

This is a heavy duty 2" receiver trailer hitch (C1523). The 3/8" steel it is made of is the way to go. Aside from the capacity of the hitch one really great features is that the safety chain hook holes are large enough for 3/8" clevis slip hooks. Most hitches don't seem to have holes that are too small.

by:
2011 GMCSierra

This is an excellent upgrade to the OEM hitch. Installation was easy and the spare tire can remain in it's original location.

The hitch is solid. Tow my 18 deck trailer and 16 dump trailer with no worries. Very nice product.

Ford

I had purchased a 2006 gmc savanna Thomas short bus and needed a hitch for it. The frame was not a normal savanna width. Searching the etrailer site I found drawings of a hitch I believed would work. I needed to enlarge 2 holes to 5/8inch, clean up 2 1/2 inch holes, and drill 2. 1/2 inch holes. In the end I spent more time running to store to get a needed drill bit. The hitch was installed in less then an hour. This was my 2nd hitch from etrailer the last one went on a Ford e350. Had it on in 20 minutes with my sons help. Both hitches purchased were over kill but the xtra capacity is nothing but piece of mind.

by: 02/01/2024

Only problem with this kit is the attaching screws. They were usless. I ended up thru bolting with bolts and nuts.

by:

Does the job. Pretty easy to install, other than somewhat heavy (needed a spare set of hands). Had to drop down spare tire to get the hitch up. Even then, spare tire is still touching hitch (tight fit).

by:
2007 Chevrolet Silverado New Body

Bought this hitch receiver to replace the old rusted out factory hitch receiver. Bolted right up with no need to drop the spare tire. The differences between this hitch receiver and the factory one are night and day. This thing is solid. My truck will pull apart before this receiver hitch fails. Way overkill for my needs, but I will never worry about a receiver hitch failure!

by:

Fast delivery on a great hitch

by:

Very fast delivery.

by:
2010 Chevrolet Silverado

Very happy with this. Truly bolt on installation without having to modify anything. Definitely seems much stronger than the factory hitch. Its pretty heavy and awkward to do by yourself but its manageable. It took me roughly 20 minutes from start to finish. I no longer have to worry about my hitch while towing.

by:

Bolted right up to my 09 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ. Thank you

  • High Capacity Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500
The highest capacity 2 inch hitch we offer for your 2006 Chevy Silverado is the Curt Hitch part # C15323 which has a 2,400 lb tongue weight capacity and 17,000 lb total trailer weight capacity. I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well. Your stock trailer wiring setup connects to a harness behind the rear bumper and would not be affected by the hitch. It installs by twisting into the socket.

  • Trailer Hitch that Fits Right Under the Bumper on a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500
Yes. The "C" in front of the part number, # C15323, is just how we designate it as a Curt part. The Class IV and V trailer hitches available for your 2009 GMC Sierra 1500 all set at approximately the same location. That is to say with a minimal, if any, gap between the receiver and the bumper. The Class III hitch # 13322 sits up tighter against the bumper, see the linked video, but as a Class III it isn't rated as high as a IV or V. The higher Class hitches are beefier so they may need...

  • Class V Trailer Hitch for a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic 1500
If your Silverado has a factory bumper, then yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C15323, is the hitch that you will want to install on your 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic 1500. This hitch has a max Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) of 16,000 lbs, 17,000 lbs when used with a Weight Distribution (WD) system, and a max Tongue Weight (TW) of 2,400 lbs which doesn't change when using a WD system. For your 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, the Truck Bed Extender # BX4004-02 , is a confirmed fit. It will allow you to store this extender allowing you full bed access and will give you the extra 28 inches of space. For a trailer hitch, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class V XD - 2", # C15323. This is a custom fit for your vehicle and is made in the USA. There is no drilling required for installation, but the spare tire will need to be lowered or removed temporarily for installation....

  • Hitch Receiver for 2001 Chevy Silverado with Roll Pan Bumper That Does Not Use License Plate Hole
You are correct. For the 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500, the Curt # 13932 is the only available hitch that can be used with the roll pan bumper. If you wanted to use one of the hitches designed to circumvent the deep drop bumpers that were often found on this model you could use the Curt # 13339. However, this is still a Class III hitch receiver, so it would not increase your towing capacity and there is not anything for use with an aftermarket roll pan bumper that is higher rated than that....

  • Recommended Class V Hitch for 2006 GMC Sierra for Towing 10,800 lb Boat
I'd recommend upgrading that hitch, ASAP. If the hitch fails while you're towing, causing an accident, your insurance company would be well within their rights to deny you coverage which would leave you wide open to all kinds of legal liability. Not a pretty situation. Usually, Class V hitches do indeed have a 2-1/2 inch receiver tube. However, companies like Curt Manufacturing, Draw-Tite and B&W have developed Class V hitches with a 2 inch receiver tube that are strong enough to be classified...

  • How Far Down Does Curt Trailer Hitch C15323 Hang from Frame on a 2002 GMC Sierra 2500
First I should mention that Curt trailer hitch # C15323 will only fit your 2002 GMC Sierra 2500 if it is an LD (light duty) model. It will not fit a 2500HD (heavy duty) model. But on the hitch it measures approximately 6-1/2 inches from the rear most attachment point (on the vehicle) to the top of the cross tube and 9 inches to the bottom (the cross tube is approximately 2-1/2 inches square). Take a look at the picture I added with these measurements.
