Hidden Cross Tube for a Clean, Factory Look

The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once the hitch is installed, only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. This means that your vehicle can maintain its stylish, from-the-factory look, and you won't have to do any major modifications to its body or frame.

Eco-Friendly Material

With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will withstand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.

Rigorous Strength Testing Ensures Durability

This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

Perfect fit. 2021 Mazda CX-30. It took under an hour to install. Definitely watch video before attempting.
Tip #1- buy 3/8” spring clips (they were only .38 cents each) like the ones included in my photos. These retain the bolts in the frame since only 1 fish wire is included. Once you have the washers and nuts on you pop them out before tightening.
Tip #2- verify good threads on all bolts by threading the nuts on before installing. I had a section of threads on the one bolt that needed filing due to damage during shipment.

One year and still holding up great!

No self respecting company should release a product this bad. It rattles on uphills because they don’t have enough space between exhaust and the hitch(in 2 places on each side. To make matters worse it has a major design flaw for the anti-rotate features for the bolts. Rather than having a positive stop on the lugs they chose to go with cheap star washers!!! Good luck taking this POS off your car after you properly torque the bolts. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs.

It is pretty common for the hitch is rub against the exhaust after install. The good news is there are ways to fix it and stop the annoying rattle! I have attached the article here.

2021 Mazda CX-30

Great hitch and easy to install (first one I have ever done on a non-truck type vehicle). If you make sure the hitch is pushed to the rear of the vehicle as far as you can, and trim the aluminum muffler heat shield located above the muffler (in the locations that contact the hitch) you won't have any "rattling or noises" from the hitch rubbing on parts. The people who complain about this problem just don't take the time to pay attention to these details.

2020 Mazda CX-30

Great product. I have done any car-related stuff but with the help of a friend (who'd fixed a hitch before) we managed to install this easily in about 1 hr. The video was very helpful as well as the paper instructions.
I fixed a 1UP bike rack to the hitch. Very happy with the end result.

by:

Does not properly fit the turbo models. The hitch hits the muffler and makes a loud banging. I installed a shim between the hitch and muffler that eliminates the sound. However, this hitch was not designed properly for the turbo models.

Unfortunately, it is common that minor exhaust hanger adjustments may be necessary to get proper clearance. I have a link attached below for some assistance on how to adjust the exhaust hanger.

compatible with a Mazda CX-30 Turbo Premium Plus. There was some exhaust rattle on the driver's side which was anticipated and fully explained in etrailer video
Attached video shows my bit of grind down on the muffle rwhich fixed the rattle

My Mazda dealer installed it. And yes indeed I had the “little tango” rattle on the muffler on the driver’s side.

After grinding down the muffler and part of the auto chassis, the pesky rattle was still happening. After contacting MANY owners I finally found the ultimate solution. Its not raise the car, it LOWER the muffler.

2021 Mazda CX-30

Hitch arrived quickly, however it was missing the fish wire which is supposed to be included. I bought this myself for $[X].

Install took about 3 hours. The most difficult part was pushing the fish wire though the frame and lifting the hitch into position without bumping any of the bolts. The hitch looks great once installed (very well hidden). I have not noticed any muffler rattle.

by:

The hitch is well built, but inadequately designed. I installed this on my 2021 CX-30 AWD Turbo. All hardware was included to complete the installation. The instructions were a bit vague in a couple areas, which led to some steps needing to be repeated. You have to be extremely careful handling the bolts once the fish wire is installed. This is tedious, but works well if you take your time. I installed on a lift with help from a buddy. Total install was about 2 hours.

The design problem related to how this hitch fits around the muffler mount. This is very little clearance, which results in constant clanging as you drive around. I used a dremel to remove some of the muffler mount sheet metal which helped. I really needed to remove even more, as the clanging continued, albeit not as frequent or as loud. This hitch needs to be redesigned to not require modification of the OEM muffler mount.

The EcoHitch is working and looks great on my CX-30.

This hitch is custom made to fit the Mazda CX-30. It was easy to install and works well towing a trailer. I have three suggestions for improvement:
1) the four bolts that hold the hitch to the frame rails should be upgraded to the type of bolt that has a square shoulder that fits into a square slot on the metal tab that keeps the bolt up inside the frame rail. E-Trailer uses this type of bolt and tab with other hitches and they do a much better job of preventing the bolt from spinning when you tighten the nut.
2) Only one fishing wire was provided with the installation kit, so you have to re-use it for each of the four bolts to get them situated up inside the frame rails. This means when you raise the trailer hitch into place you better do a really good job aligning it or you'll push one or more of the bolts up into the frame rail and then spend an hour trying to fish them back through the holes. E-Trailer provides four fishing wires on other trailer kits and they shoudld provide 4 fishing wires with this hitch for the CX-30.
3) Once installed and tightened into position, this hitch sits too close to the muffler and I could hear and feel the muffler rattling against the trailer hitch as I drove over bumps in the road. The muffler is mounted on rubber grommets that allow it to move slightly up and down and side to side as the car is driven over bumps. This hitch should have been designed with more clearance around the muffler. The solution is to mark the contact points on the muffler with a Sharpie pen, then grind away some metal from the muffler to widen the gap between muffler and hitch. Fortunately the contact points are on the muffler seam and mounting bracket so grinding away some metal at these contact points does not harm the muffler itself.

by:

The hitch contacts the muffler's weld seam at the limit of the exhaust free play, sending loud shuddering and vibrations throughout the car interior and ultimately likely damaging the muffler and/or voiding the warranty. We feel ripped off by etrailer, who refused to help us resolve the issue.

Install went well, I did purchase this for a 2022 CX-30 even though it wasn’t confirmed to fit. Lucky for me it fit perfectly with no issues. Took me about 90 minutes from start to finish.

by:

Great job on installation as they had to be ingenious due to my vehicle. The quality was great.
It was pricey but i accepted it.

by:

After a great deal of research to find a 2" hitch that would fit my vehicle, a friend told me about etrailer.com. I was thrilled to find a 2" hitch - and it was available to order. The installation was reasonable in price and it was easy to attach my bike rack. I weigh less that 110 lbs., so needed a setup that I could use now - and for years to come.

2021 Mazda CX-30

Product arrived in excellent shape and shipping by ETrailer was very quick. If Ecohitch could only adjust their product so there is no interference with the muffler (as also described by other reviewers) it would merit 5 stars.

by:

Installed by dealer in about 2 hrs. Moved the exhaust bracket as advixed; Will be used to transport E--bikes so looks like it will be fine. Really quite close to the bumper so hardly visible. Very happy with the hitch

by:

Great Product! Overall 2 hrs to install, I had a hard time finding a Class III 2" hitch, this is perfect for the car. Overall easy process as long as you have all the tools required, pictures attached have everything I used. A tie down is critical to drop the exhaust but after that everything is really easy.

No need to do do any holes to car frame, wire provided to get bolt, shim and spacer is easy to use, I'll advice to make a hook in the other end to be able to pull guide out while trying to align everything.

by:

I bought this 1 year ago for my Mazda. Install was straightforward however there is a hard interference cash with the exhaust muffler. This causes an obnoxious thinking noise over any bumps. I tried to g grind it down which has alleviated the problem but it is still there. I have yet to make more time to sit there for a few hours and grind it to fix.
Needless to say, not very happy with this item.

We put this receiver on our new 2022 Mazda CX-30. After a small modification to the muffler hanger, the fit was perfect.

Would have been 5 star but the box arrived damaged, a few minor scratches, and the bag that held the hardware was cut so parts were all throughout the box and I ended up missing a single nut. No biggie, found one at the hw store. Overall happy just a little disappointed in how it arrived.

I see that your hitch has received some scratches on it due to shipping. This does tend to happen and when it does, we recommend using a Rust-oleum type paint to cover up any scratches and prevent corrosion in the future during use. I have a link below for your reference. I have also sent this over to our customer service department for them to better assist you.

  • Does EcoHitch X7413 2 Inch Receiver Hitch Fit 2021 Mazda CX-30
According to EcoHitch, their X7413 hitch which we offer as part # EH55VR does indeed carry over to the 2021 Mazda CX-30. If you'll be doing some towing with the hitch, you'll also need a ball mount like # D-28, a hitch pin like # PC3 and for a trailer ball, use # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or # 63845 for a 2 inch.
