Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Very nice hitch; this 3rd one I purchased from etrailer, and like all them before they are great! This one was a little harder to put on; but it looks great! The main use is to be able to carry my bikes; maybe light towing if needed.

No complaints at all! Works great looks great!

Easy to install
Well made I have no
problem installing and very satisfied with the trailer hitch

by:
2010 Mazda CX-7

I've never installed a bolt-on hitch previously, so I was a bit skeptical about how the hitch would fit the holes in the car frame and how difficult installation would be. It turns out that I didn't need to worry at all. I viewed the installation video a couple days before the hitch arrived. Other than installing the hitch with the car jacked up 6 inches off the ground, rather than on a lift, installation went EXACTLY as the video showed. Yup, 40 minutes from raising the car to lowering the car with a brand new hitch attached that fit PERFECTLY. Whoever came up with the fish wire installation tool for fishing the bolts and washers through the frame holes is a genius! The hitch is very well made, easy (actually fun) to install and looks great! Thanks for a GREAT product!

by:

I was very satisfied with the product. The video definitely helped. It took about 30 minutes. I didn't have to lower the muffler. I did one side while my girlfriend held the other. Product was easy to install. The customer service was excellent. Shipping was fast and delivered right to my door. Would recommend this site to anyone.

This is a very solid hitch. I managed to install it alone on my 2010 Mazda CX-7. I could not get the muffler off its 4 rubber hangers as per the instructions. Instead I removed two fasteners holding the bottom of the rear bumper cover to the underside of the car. This lets the bumper cover move a bit and this is enough that the hitch can then be wiggled into position with the muffler left in place. I was able to support it in the process using a transmission jack but wooden blocks or other supports would work too.

Thanks. I did install it and that was pretty easy but so far, I havent had need to use it.

I'm only using the hitch for a bike carrier so I was happy to find such a good price AND a instruction video and for my exact vehicle in addition to the instruction sheet.
It bolted up perfectly to my 08 Mazda CX-7.
It arrived...free shipping...in two days. Very satisfied. So far so good.

Hitch still looks good after a year. Very satisfied w etrailer. I put one on my Subaru as well.

by:

Trailer hitch works flawlessly with the bike rack I also bought here. I provided your instructions to my mechanic who installed it without a 'hitch'

I am so impressed with the products, information and customer service provided by etrailer. I recommend you to all my friends.

by:

Hitch matched online description and mounted to vehicle as easily as instructions described. I use the hitch for my Thule bike rack as well as
Rental trailers when need arises.
Price was right, products was right and would certainly recommend to
anyone looking for a hitch.

2011 Mazda CX-7

The hitch was so easy to install. Took about an hour including finding the jack stands and getting all set up. I haul two bikes on a bike rack and have zero complaints. Priced fair, easy installation and good quality. What else could you want? Contemplating trading the car and will not hesitate one second to contact etrailer when that time comes.

2007 Mazda CX-7

Just installed the trailer hitch on my wife's 07 Mazda CX7. I watched the installation video and followed the directions to a T. Took less than a hour with the car up on ramps. I was able to complete the job by myself and had no issues what so ever. Great rack, loaded 2 50 lb E-Bikes on to the new Thule rack and was very impressed with structural quality. I will definitely recommend this company and will buy another one when needed. Also, the price was great and I received it within days of ordering it. The customer service sales rep was also very knowledgeable and recommended the correct product and saved me additional money I'll give the whole process a 10 out of 10. Thanks

by:

At first I was a little put off because I thought it took a longer than i expected to come in. Then I got to thinking that my hitch had to cross the border and it was a great price! So I decided to reserve judgment until the hitch came in. It appears to be better made, better quality than I expected. It installed EXACTLY as the provided video said it would.....any fumbling or bumbling that made the install take longer than expected were due to my shortcomings. I am a happy customer though I have not yet tackled the electrical. If you don't hear from me, it means it went the same way as the hitch did!

by:
2011 Mazda CX-7

Thanks to the etrailer videos there were no real surprises. The hitch fit as expected on my 2011 CX-7. I do suggest you plan for some assistance holding the weight of the hitch while securing the fasteners.

The only exception I found was with removing the rubber exhaust hangers. I was initially under the impression I had to remove all four after watching their video. This would mean I had to find a way to support the muffler. However, the instructions with the hitch said to remove only the rear hangers which is exactly what I did. That actually left plenty of room for me to place the hitch. As a bonus, the front two hangers supported the muffler. Also, removing both rear hangers completely off the CX-7 made it much easier to place them back on the muffler.

etrailer-supplied hitch, fitted by Mazda dealer to our CX-7 with factory wiring and straight four connector. Finding the right bracket for the connector turned out to be a problem for the dealer - I should have ordered the bracket along with the hitch order. The whole thing looks good now!
The box that the hitch was packed in by etrailer was inadequate. The hitch had bust its way through the side of the box and was hanging out when delivered, but luckily it had not been damaged.

by:

Installation was straight forward and the video installation procedure was spot on. We backed the CX-7 onto ramps, lowered the exhaust (supported by a strap), and used a drill to slightly enlarge the frame holes to allow the backing plates to fit. I had a helper with me so while one person held up the hitch, the other got the bolts and nuts started. We only had one issue - one of the bolts was shorter than the others (obviously a mistake from the manufacturer). Even though it was shorter, it was long enough, but tricky to get the nut started on that one bolt. Torqued all bolts to spec after making a quick run to the hardware store for a 17 mm deep socket. Perfect fit and the hitch works great.

Called three different garages that install hitches. The cheapest was 240 dollars. When i did my own research I came across etrailer and the videos attached to every hitch. Though I am not a car guy i was very confident in the project and what to expect.

It took me just under an hour from start to finish, Most of that time time being spent trying to get the rubber muffler hanger off of their hangers. It was frustrating.

what you need; I had a second person to help with lifting the hitch and handing me tools while he enjoyed a refreshment, a ratchet strap to help hold up the muffler, dremel to grind the metal, and WD40 to lube the muffler hanger. Hint; after many tries i found a thin metal rod and pushed it into the muffler hanger and was able to push the rubber hanger off the hanger. Once those are off the muffler will drop down and out of the way.

Once the muffler is down you will use the dremel, and a stone cuter bit, to grind a larger hole into the frame and put the metal plates and screw into the frame.

Once again I am not a car guy. I just watched the video 4-5 times, put my tools together and was able to install it. The hardest part is the muffler hangers, get past that and it is easy. The hangers just slide right back when putting them back on with no effort.

If in the future i need a hitch, or know someone in the market, i will be back with no hesitation to purchase one.

Fit was fantastic on my 2010 Mazda CX-7. Installation video is sooo helpful. Took me about 2 hours to do myself, including a trip to the hardware store for a metal file to enlarge holes in vehicle frame. Used a motorcycle/atv jack to help position the hitch and hold it in place while securing bolts, because I didn't have help. UPS delivered on-time despite record-breaking floods in the area. Still have to hook-up the wiring harness to OEM connection behind passenger taillight. All in all, 10 out of 10 so far. Excellent product, superb value.

by:

Hitch and installation instructions were very easy to understand and install. Company did a great job keeping me informed of the order status and sending information. I actually received an email after the hitch was delivered (much quicker than expected) asking if I had any questions.
I would definitely suggest this company to everyone looking for a trailer hitch

2007 Mazda CX-7

Great product for the price! Hitch arrived with some chipped paint, but that's OK since it will get stone pecked anyways on the vehicle. Took longer than the 40 min to install, but that was because I had no help and no hoist. I didn't jack up the veh either (was on a hill) and did not undo the exhaust hanger (tried but it was too hard). Was able to maneuver the hitch into position with minor bending of the plastic bumper, but the bumper bounced back into original shape once the hitch was in position. Used a bucket to prop up the hitch before installing fastners. 50 ft-lb torque was a little hard to get to upside down on my back with only the veh's ground clearance, but was able to get up to 45 ft-lb. Overall, solid product!

by:

Installation video is great! Product fits just fine, installation was easy. Make sure you have a helper or a jack to help lift the hitch into position. A dremel is very useful for quickly enlarging the holes.

I would recommend etrailer and Draw-Tite Products to anyone looking to purchase a hitch!

by:

Great quality, this is my 5th Draw-tite brand. Etrailer was great with excellent product info and rapid shipping. This hitch for our CX7 went on in less than 30 minutes. Two sets of hands is helpful when lifting the hitch up into place. Hitch is very strong, and fully concealed behind the rear bumper skin (except for the receiver end)

Excellent and sturdy design. Fitted in place with minimum tools and a bit of hard (awkward) work under the car. The bike rack slide in and out easily. I am very pleased with this product.

by:
2009 Mazda CX-7

Great looking product! Install was easy and only took about 2 hours on a 2009 Mazda CX-7. I removed the 2 aft rubber exhaust brackets and it gave me plenty of room to install the hitch. The install video was very, very helpful and probably why I chose to buy from etrailer! Thanks again!

by:

I know very little about motor vehicles and even less about trailers or hitches. I was easily able to identify and order the hitch that would fit my car. The delivery was fast and efficient. The price was the best deal, far better than anyone locally was offering.

by:

I first purchased this hitch from a competitor, but it arrived unboxed and the hardware was missing. I contacted them and they could only offer to order the hardware from the mfr, shipping from Mexico, which would take about 10 business days. I needed the hitch in about a week (for a cub scout camp out), so that was no good.

I tried to get the hardware kit from etrailer, but they too could only order it from Mexico. A customer service rep said the best thing would be to just order the whole hitch from them and they could get it to me in two days. It arrived in two days as he promised (fully boxed and everything accounted for and not banged up). It took me right at an hour to install, by myself. The install video was very helpful, I would only add the actual torque spec (which is listed on the instructions near the bottom) of 50 ft/lb. Otherwise, I didn't need the instructions. :)

Moral of the story, don't cheap out, buy from etrailer!

by:

Fit perfectly! Was exactly as described on the web site. Excellent instructions made a somewhat difficult procedure very clear and easy to do. The hitch was of excellent quality. Quick shipping & follow-up tracking. I willl use e-trailer for all my future needs.

  • What Will a Class III Trailer Hitch Look Like When Installed on a 2009 Mazda CX-7
We have several Class III trailer hitches available for the 2010 Mazda CX-7. First is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 75512. I have included a link to the instructions and a video for this hitch as well. For the most part, only the receiver shows. The other Class III Hitch, # 13593, will have a similar appearance after it is installed. Both of these hitches, when installed, are pretty well hidden as you can see in the videos. For the most part, only the receiver shows.

Install video attached. With that hitch installed you could use the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack part # TH69TX. This has everything you need to use as a 2-bike or a 4-bike rack.
