Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2012 Hyundai Accent

My first shipment fell out of both sides of the box and the paint was worn down to the metal. Etrailer has nice customer service reps and Neil quickly sent me out a replacement which looks great!! I was able to install the hitch in less than an hour laying on a plastic tarp without lifting my car. The instructions are really easy and the price was great...I would definitely recommend this product and now I'm able to put a really good bike rack on my Hyundai Accent.

2015 Kia Rio

From start to finish Etrailer has top the charts in quality products and most importantly, customer service; let me explain.
My dealer said no hitch is available for our vehicle... so I went online and found Etrailer. Etrailer had what we were looking for and within a few days it arrived! It took me 45 minutes to install the hitch properly. As a senior citizen it was a piece of cake. My wife wanted me to have a trailer business install it but I love challenges, besides why pay someone else when a video is online and instructions are easy to follow?
It was so easy a cave man can install one!

The installation took a little longer than estimated, but it looks great now that it is installed. Soon, I will see how it handles the bike rack.
Thanks!

2017 Volkswagen Beetle

I ordered the Curt Hitch (#24884) receiver for my wife’s 2017 VW Turbo Beetle. She insisted on the Curt Hidden Hitch because the mounted hitch looks great. The frame’s round tubes are bent to curves that match the contour of the Turbo Beetle’s lower trim. The installed hitch receiver has a nice clean look that hugs the underside of the car. You don’t really notice it’s there unless you get up under the car. We will use the hitch receiver for our hitch mounted bike rack.

I would’ve normally installed the hitch receiver myself but my tools were in temporary storage at the time. We had a local mechanic install it for a reasonable price. If you have basic mechanical aptitude, you can follow the instructions provided by Curt. For safety’s sake, please use a torque wrench per Curt's instructions, to torque the nut/bolts to the specified torque. This will significantly reduce the risk of nut/bolt failure. This is not a step where you want to take a short cut or guess.

Curt builds a quality USA made product. This purchase is the third hitch receiver that we have ordered from etrailer. This is also our second Curt Hidden Hitch for a VW Beetle from etrailer. We are very satisfied with all three purchases regarding the quality of the products sold by etrailer, the value for the money, and quality of their service.

I attached the hitch with the side bolts first since I was concerned about losing the bolts up into the car channels. But once attached I couldn’t fit the central bolt in place because the hitch body was in the way. So I had to undo one side and move the hitch body out of the way to insert the central bolt. Warning you to do this ahead of time would have been nice. I am also concerned about this central attachment point putting a strain on the gas tank to which it is apparently welded.

The Draw-Tite trailer hitch went on much easier than I expected, even with my arthritis! Instructions were very good and easy to follow. The receiver is flush with the bottom of the tag. Great design!

2016 Hyundai Accent

Got this receiver hitch as a gift for my girlfriends car to pair with a hitch mount bike rack. She previously used a trunk mounted rack that resulted in hours of paint correction and detailing work to remove the marks left behind. The hitch is a perfect fit on her 2016 Hyundai Accent and was extremely easy to install by myself with basic hand tools. Install time by yourself would take 30-45 mins and I imagine no more than 20 mins with a helping hand! Hitch is plenty sturdy as it was able to support myself (195lbs) jumping on the bike rack. Quality built product!

by:

Had watched the install video, and read over the instructions, so decided to give it a go. Install took 45 minutes working alone and without raising the car. Those wire bolt holders are cool. The spliceless wire kit worked great also. Busted one panel clip on each side, but not unexpected, even with the warnings. Shipping was pretty quick. Will be shopping etrailer again for sure..

2012 Hyundai Hatchback. I installed this hitch by myself so It took longer then 30 min to install

I used a extra jack stand to hold up the other side of the hitch.

Pretty clear instructions. Came with all the hardware.(that’s a plus)

This product fit perfectly on the Hyundai Accent 4 dr 2013. I did the installation myself and took me more than 1 hr. Assembly would be easier with another person.

Box was damaged apron arrival. Paint on the hitch was all scratched off. Dings on each end. Not sure if it happened when shipped or when stored at warehouse. Either way. Was very disappointed and then they offer me $xx off cause the next one shipped could be the same way. Great guarantee.

Ah man, this is common when shipping hitches, unfortunately. We do recommend using a Rust-Oleum type of paint to cover the scratches and prevent any rust. I have a link with this information below.

2012 Hyundai Accent

My class I trailer hitch was shipped quickly and arrived without issue. My 2012 Hyundai Accent required that I read the instructions... not my usual strategy. I installed the hitch in my garage at home with just my tool box and my small floor jack.

There are two holes on either side at the rear of the frame. The front one, which has a rubber plug that needs to be temporarily removed for the operation, is large enough to fit the bolt and retainer plate, but the bolt needs to come through the rear hole which is just large enough for the bolt. It’s necessary to screw the supplied wire on the ends on the bolts, feed it through the retainer plates, then snake the wire from the large rear hole to the small front hole then pull the bolt along and into the small hole. I put a 90* kink in the end of the wire so it would drop through the rear hole when snaked back. Amazingly this odd system works great and the retainer plate follows the bolt and slips into place as needed.

Putting the long bolt and retainer plate through the top of the tie down loop was a bit of a struggle and I didn’t think it would fit... but finally it did. Keep at it.

I also found that even after I tightened the bolts on either side the longer middle bolt that comes through the tie down loop on the car didn’t extend through the hitch far enough to allow me to put the bottom retainer plate in place but there was space between the tie down loop, the middle retainer plate and the hitch. I was able to put the washer and nut on the bolt and tightened it to draw the hitch to the tie down loop. Then I used my floor jack and put it under the middle of the hitch and jacked up the rear of the car. This out enough pressure on the hitch that it allowed me to back off and remove the bolt and washer, put the bottom retainer plate in place, then put the washer and bolt back on and torqued everything down.

If it was too easy I wouldn’t have that satisfied feeling of getting it done.

After a year the hitch has given no issues at all. Very pleased

by:

I messed up installing the first pair of carriage bolts so I had to buy more bolts, spacers, and pull wires. The second time around the installation was easy. I used a floor jack to lift the hitch into place so I could secure one side. Then I repositioned the jack, lifted the other side, slid that side past the muffler and onto the second bolt, bolted the tie down bracket to tie down hook, and torqued everything to 50 lbs. It was a very simple installation.

The manufacturer recommends using the supplied hardware that comes with the hitch to avoid warranty issues. You can get a new hardware kit with item # RHK.

I have put this hitch to the test and have been impressed with it!

by:

Five star rating for ordering, shipping, product quality, installation instructions.(part number 24844) Took about an hour to install as I did it on the ground with no lift, using a floor jack to position the hitch assembly to the vehicle frame. The only thing I wish I had known is the chain auto parts stores have a very limited selection of 1 1/4" ball mounts. The correct one which is required for my application is a little longer in length and with a 4 inch rise.(part number 3594). Etrailer should advise customers to buy these two together as a combo to avoid needless delay. all in all, excellent value with no troubles whatsoever.

by:
2013 Hyundai Accent

A little difficult to assemble, but I am good at overcoming the exigencies of motor car manufacturers, even when they "forbid" the use of a utility trailer n my car, yet have provided the entry points on the frame for your hitch!
Once in place and securely bolted I have made numerous trips with light loads to the dump - mostly tree trimmings. No problem with the hitches installation and its performance and I have recommended your hitch to my son in law in Prince George.

by:
2015 Hyundai Accent

Hitch fit perfectly, bolted on solidly, and was very easy to install, a ratchet wrench is all it took. The little spring gizmo to aid in placing the bolts into the spacers, then into the frame, makes it a breeze. It took about 40 minutes to install, another 30-40 minutes to install a wiring kit (Item # C56254). Fit tight against the bumper, and flush with the rear so it doesn't hurt my already low ground clearance much.

I'm 100% satisfied; ordering was easy, delivery was fast, installation was a breeze, what's not to like?

2012 Hyundai Accent

This is my 2nd trailer tow bar and wiring kit for seperate compact vehicles I have purchased from etrailer. I am simply blown away with how easy it was to select the product online as well as simple installation. And furthermore, the product was delivered within just a few days. Absolutely a company I can trust for 5 star products and services. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND these guys because the business transaction just doesn't get any easier. Keep up the great work you guys!

I love the hitch, easy to install and looks great on my car. I have been using it quite a bit for my bike rack that attaches to the hitch and makes it easy to take my bikes when my wife and I go for a ride.

I've had this receiver for a year-ish now on my 2014 KIA RIO and it has worked well for me. I've used it in conjunction with a Kuat bike rack to haul bikes around and I have had no issues at all from the receiver.
I see no reason to not give it 5 stars.

Happy hauling.

2012 Hyundai Accent

Great product - the Hitch Receiver installed perfectly, instructions are very clear, and mounting hardware all worked very well. Pullwire for bolt installation is a great idea. Recommend having an assistant help with lifting receiver into position. Would have given 5 starts except for cardboard packaging which had split open at both hitch bar ends.

Draw tight has a great reputation and we believe this a great product for our application. The Etrailer team speaks English and treated me like a member of their personal family (with 15 grandchildren I really appreciate this atmosphere. This concept of service and follow up is a concept our politicians should emulate...I believe the Etrailer team "really did build this business with customer satisfaction in mind".
Rose took my order like she was helping her own grandpa and George sent me a subsequent email confirming my order and expediting my order with an upgraded shipping service...just to show appreciation for my business.
Today I received another follow up to make sure I was satisfied.
I am an old retired doctor and I like to do my own projects and with 6 grown children and 15 grandchildren I have been frustrated with products and especially DIY directions.
Not this time! My 11 year old granddaughter took one side of the hitch and I took the other side and WE completed the operation in less than 30 minutes.
Not bad for an old doctor and a young nurse.
Last word from the old doctor to the Etrailer team
"People don't care how much you know...until they know how much you care"
God bless you all
Yours for the best products and service
Dr. Gill

I purchased this trailer hitch for a 2015 Hyundai Accent 4 door, my son in law and my granddaughter said it was very easy to install and the instructions and video were spot on, it took them probably about 30 minutes or less, I will be using this hitch for a wheelchair carrier because the wheelchair will not fit in the trunk and is very difficult to get in and out of the car, I am very pleased with this purchase and it fits perfectly on the car
Thank You so much
