Will Yakima RidgeBack 2 Bike Rack Y02457 Fit Class I Hitch 2012 Hyundai Accent 4-Door
Question:
What are the hitch rack limitations on a 2012 Hyundai Accent 4-door? Id like to use the Yakima RidgeBack 2, if it will work with my car. What size receiver should I get installed. Thanks

Your 2012 Hyundai Accent 4-door sedan can be equipped with one size and grade of trailer hitch receiver, the 1-1/4-inch size with a Class I rating. The link provided will take you to our product page that shows all four hitches offered for your vehicle. All are rated for 200-lbs maximum tongue weight. Of the four I recommend the Draw-Tite # 24884 for its simpler installation. No drilling is required to install this hitch and the necessary hardware is included.
The Yakima RidgeBack 2 # Y02457 is intended for use only with Class II hitch receivers. Even though the receiver opening is the same 1-1/4-inch size the Class I hitches available for your 2012 Accent will not accept a Class II accessory, so the RidgeBack 2 carrier will not work on your Accent.
The good news is that you can use any of the Class I bike carriers shown on the link provided. This link will show you only 1-1/4-inch Class I carriers that are compatible with the hitches for your Accent.
You can use the filters at the left-hand side of the page to narrow the products shown to those with the features and characteristics you prefer. Both hanging and platform style carriers are available, and with varying capacities and features. As examples, you can choose carriers that tilt for better vehicle access, or carriers that include locks, or choose one made of aluminum for the lightest possible weight. I have linked an article that may be helpful to you as you consider your options.
There are also more cost-effective options that may not include all of these features.
If you will transport bikes with a non-standard frame design, or bikes for women or children that lack a horizontal top frame tube, you might consider the Thule Adapter Bar, part # TH982XT. This attaches between your bike handlebar and seat posts to provide a level surface to mate with the carrier arms.
If you prefer a platform-style carrier (that supports the bikes primarily at their wheels rather than at their frames) you might consider the Thule Doubletrack Pro XT, part # TH92BJ. Please note that generally platform-style carriers are heavier than the hanging-style. They do not require an adapter bar.
