Great quality product. The installation was fast and the instructions easy to follow. The powder coat finish was flawless and I was impressed how every bolt hole aligned to its match on the frame. Although the directions tell you to leave the original plastic trim cover off, I was able to modify it to make the install more custom. Very happy with this hitch.

How did you modify the middle part over the hitch so cleanly, I likey?

Dave

6/23/2015

Chino,I used a jig saw with a fine blade. I used blue tape to protect the plastic and to give me an easier surface to make the cutout lines on. Drilled a 3/8 hole at both inner corners of the U and then cut between them. Finished up with a fine file. Try it, its not that hard. Good luck.

The hitch went on very easy. I looked at all of the other options and the CURT looked like it would fit the best. I notched out the cover and it looks real good on the car. 2012 Cadillac SRX Check ot the picture.

RobertI saw your photo of your SRX on the eTrailer website. Can you further explain how you notched out the cover on your SRX for the hitch as am going to do the same on my 2013 SRX and would appreciate any advice.i.e. Did you cut the cover into a left and right piece or were you able to just notch out a piece in the center, and any suggestions on type tool you used to notch it.Then how are you able to reattach the cover with the hitch now in the way?thnxGeorge

Bob B.

5/28/2014

I used a small cutoff rotary Tool to notch out the cover. It took a couple of tries to get the right fit. It takes some effort to get the ball in the hitch. You can cut more of the cover to make it less of a pain to get the ball in. The less you cut the better it looks. Bob

2011 Chevrolet Silverado

I needed a 2" receiver on my SRX so that I can hook in the bike rack I already own. I don't plan on towing a trailer as I have a Silverado for that but to take bikes with us on vacation without taking the Truck is a great option. I have a 2011 SRX Premium. I didn't know if it had the tow connector but I took a chance and just ordered the $12 connector wire. Luckily I found out that it did have it. I also took the time to cut the back fascia cover to mold around the hitch and provide more cover. One unique thing I was able to do was to put the wiring connector in the fascia instead of letting it dangle or zip tie it to the bumper. I was not able to determine if my SRX had the tow wiring connector ready but I can confirm that the 2011 SRX Premium does have the connector if that helps someone. I am really happy with the result and the looks. If you do cut the fascia and leave the center tab to connect into the bumper use a small screw driver to push it in and remove it as you are cutting the cover and then installing it an removing it as you cut more. I was worried the center tab would break off with very little material supporting it but using a screw driver to push it in gave it the support it needed. I am very happy with the results. Attached are pictures so you can see the wire connector.

Great fit in this product. It installed in about 40 min with another 20 or so to custom cut the center cover to fit back on around the receiver. I attached a photo. What a great product for the price.

etrailer gets an A plu in my book. . Number one there website is fantastic. I watched the videos they had prepared related to the tow hitch I was interested in. . Very very helpful as far as going over the different type of tow bars so I could make the correct decision. The actual installation video was really great as it took out all the uncertainties I had about installing the tow bar myself. I was able to get it installed and it went exactly like the video. It was hard to do by myself but I did not have anyone to help me hold it up under the 2012 SRX Caddy. I’m 71 so not as strong as a younger person. I tied a small diameter rope over the frame on one side to make a loop to hang one end of the tow bar on while I got a bolt started on the other end. It was still hard but I did it. I would recommend have a second person help hold up one end of the tow bar so each of you can get a bolt started. It took a bit of wiggling and a few bumps with a hammer to line up the holes for all 6 bolts but they all did line up after a little persistence. I bought a low price tork wrench torn wrench 50 to 150 lbs as it had a longer handle which I needed for less straining. So tork was 79 lbs. done deal. Also I cut the plastics piece and put it back in pace after installing the tow bar. I cut enough out of it to allow me to get the tow pin in place when booking up what I want to tow and also allow for them he chains to hook on. Came out great. Work is all done now I can enjoy the tow bar and feel great that I could get it done by myself. Thank you etrailer for your great website like no one else has. AND all of you very cool informative videos. Thanks also to ALL YOU prentation people who are featured on your videos they are all absolutely amazing at presenting your products.

2016 Cadillac SRX

I purchased this trailer hitch for my 2016 Cadillac SRX. It arrived in a box that had a rough ride to my home. The trailer hitch was secured in the box and all the hardware and instructions stowed in the square tubing securely. I installed the hitch. All went very well thanks to the video etrailer provides and the installation instructions. The trailer hitch is built very well and looks really good on the back of my caddy. etrailer is the best to deal with!

Hitch works perfectly. Blends in with contour of car so doesn’t look like an “add-on”. I mounted it myself but would have been easier with a hoist or two people. I have no problems or complaints, and would give it my best reccomendation.

Hitch has worked perfectly. One person install without a hoist was challenging but doable. I would rent a hoist and have a friend help me if I had to do it again.

by:

This was a perfect fit. I watched an installation video online before I started. I am 70 years old and installed it by myself on th ground without a lift. The hitch fit exactly as it should and installed fairly easily. There is not an abundance of room to tighten the bolts, but that is not the fault of the hitch. My only problem was that the hitch pin would not go all the way through. I filed the excess paint from the hole and it was fine. I also cut a 6 inch section from the center facia that is removed for installation, left about a 1 inch section toward the front of the facia and reinstalled it. It makes it a little trickier to install the hitch pin but not overly difficult and I think it makes the installation look neater. etrailer.com was very easy to order from and shipping was very fast. I am extremely pleased.

by:

Done in less than an hour. That's not bad for a 75+ old guy. Great instructions, went flawlessly. Spent a little extra time carving up the plastic cover plate and reinstalled it. I am one happy camper. ??
The service from etrailer was also great. Chedi not only helped me pick a product, he upgraded it and found a baseplate as well . I enjoyed working with him. Thanks Jerry B.

Once the trailer hitch is installed, it's great... Getting to that point was a bit more tricky. I was one of the few that had to slightly modify the hitch to make it fit to my vehicle. The holes did not line up quite perfectly and I had to use a jack to lift/push the hitch into place because of the snug fit.

2012 Cadillac SRX

I needed a trailer hitch to pull a fishing boat with my Cadillac SRX. I priced the local dealers in my neighborhood and found them to be too expensive. I looked online and decided after reviewing several videos that I could install the hitch and wiring harness myself and save a considerable amount of money. The hitch arrived and I immediately began the install. Both the hitch and wiring harness were of the highest quality and fit my car perfectly. I was completely done with the install in about an hour. I am a regular retired guy with basic tools. Definitely would recommend these products to my friends.

by:
2011 Cadillac SRX

Perfect fit and easy install. I purchased my receiver and light harness and received them faster than advertised. Products came with great instructions and the online videos made the install a snap. I recommend the Curt hitch and recommend ordering from etrailer.com. Customer service was outstanding. When I put my hitch on my SRX, the trim piece wouldn't fit back on (which I knew before ordering by watching the videos online). It was not difficult to cut out a hole in the facia for the hitch to stick through. I used a box cutter/ utility knife to carefully cut out the hole. I started by making the hole smaller than I thought I needed, then slowly cut away the plastic until I got a good fit.

This whole experience etrailer could not have been better.
Keigan B was excellent to work with and kept in touch by email to be sure that I got my hitch on time. Best customer service ever !!
This US made hitch was easy to install by myself (I'm in my early 70's) and is a top quality product. The video was super helpful.
The product had the best specs and best price - what could be better. Brian Butler

The folks at etrailer were so nice and helpful. They helped me select the perfect trailer hitch, wiring and hitch ball. Everything fit perfectly. After ordering they kept me aware of shipping status and tracking of my delivery. They got it all right! I had never installed a trailer hitch and had no idea how to get started, but with their help, I got my hitch installed and was able to rent a trailer and move all my furniture. Many thanks!

Great product no drilling was required holes line up with no problems installment took about one hour only because I to trim fascia to fit hitch . Wow so easy! I needed this to tow my 1958 Shasta Airflyte and it does perfectly! I have a Cadillac SRX and I was shocked how well designed this is. Highly recommend! Solid build and fast shipping. Even came with a how to install video. Great service!

Looks great. Would be 5 stars if safety chain hookup wasn't welded on crooked. But luckily it doesn't affect function.

Hitch came when they said it would with very simple easy installation. This is the second hitch I've purchased from etrailer and have been very happy with both. For the price they can't be beaten.

The hitch is PERFECT! My husband assures me it is very secure and he carefully cut out the notch so it looks like it came from the factory. I have a lightweight boat I wanted to take to the lake and came close to trading my SRX but found this site and I'm beyond thrilled!!

Took a bit longer than suggested. Had to work for one of the holes to align. Fit well, looks good. Gotta tow something now!

  • Why Does Curt Hitch for 2016 Cadillac SRX Have Higher Capacity than Vehicle
A lot of times our hitch manufacturers rate their hitches for higher towing capacities than what the vehicles they fit have. This is just a way to make sure the hitch never fails. You always have to go by the lowest rated component in a setup for the overall capacity as you are only as strong as your weakest link. The American made Curt hitch part # C13002 that you referenced would be a great choice though. I attached an install video for more info for you to check out as well. Since...

Trailer hitch receivers, such as the Curt # C13002 that fits your 2010 Cadillac SRX, are often overrated compared to the vehicles they're designed to fit.
