2013 Nissan Leaf

I was able to install fairly easily myself. I love being able to use the bike rack with my Leaf!

by:
2012 Nissan Leaf

Video demonstration from website was very easy to follow. Overall install was very quick, took about 50 min to complete. Product seems to be very solid and stoked to have installed it on my 2012 Nissan Leaf.

by:

install went as expected, did it in my driveway, drove on some wooden blocks to get some extra space. Only issue was instructions called for a 19mm socket - but actually needed an 18mm socket - may want to get Curt to correct the documentation. Fortunately I had an 18mm - though they are somewhat uncommon (in US). The reciever is so stubby you barely notice is from the back of the car - but supports my YAK bike rack just fine. I loved the little

Works perfectly on my Nissan Leaf! Reasonably priced and easy to install.

by:
2015 Nissan Leaf

Fits well. Wanted an option for a removable bike rack on my 2015 Nissan Leaf that wouldn’t reduce range from wind drag. A tow hitch makes a vehicle so much more versatile.

by:
2013 Nissan Leaf

Today I installed this trailer hitch myself. Very good workmanship. Easy installation. I will soon check how it works.
Thank you very much for a good product!

by:
2015 Nissan Leaf

This was the second hitch I purchased from etrailer. The install instructions make it so easy. My model was for a 2015, which hasn't yret been listed, but the 2014 model worked the same

by:

The hitch itself fit the car very well. The instructions were helpful, but not accurate for my year/model, so the install challenging. Using the fish wire was easier than expected. I had to cut out more of the dust cover than the instructions said. It would be helpful to see a picture of the final install from UNDER the car. Don't believe the install times. I took 5 hours to do it myself. After everything, I'm pleased with the final product.

by:
2017 Nissan Leaf

Everything about this purchase was terrific. Price was great compared with other hitch kits (plus free shipping!) Installation video was excellent, and color instruction sheet was super helpful. It took me about 2 hours to install from start to finish, but I did it with the car on the ground (no lift, jacks, or ramps). The trickiest part was expanding the existing hole in the frame to accommodate the bolt head and washer. The hitch works great and feels incredibly sturdy. I've already used it several times with a Rhode Gear 2 bike rack, and it's stable and quiet. Also, the hitch is barely noticeable on the car when the bike rack is removed. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone wanting to add a hitch to their Nisan Leaf.

I am still using the trailer hitch, and its still great. Im thinking about getting hitches for my other cars :-

by:
2012 Nissan Leaf

I put this hitch on my 2012 Nissan Leaf. I had to cut a small hole in the frame to complete the job. I used a large drill and a right angle grinder. Other than that, it was an easy install. The hitch works great. It's tucked up under the car and doesn't interfere with anything. I use it with a cargo platform to haul fuel cans (for mowers). I also pull a 4' x 8' utility trailer to carry things that won't fit in a hatchback car.

Im using this trailer hitch more often than I expected. I would hate to be without it.

by:

Great experience ordering and getting it shipped on time, no comment on installation as I have yet to install.

by:
2016 Nissan Leaf

The hitch arrived in an appropriately sturdy box, and seems well-built with nice welds. Curt even put a reinforcing ring around the receiver opening. I've not installed it yet, but I anticipate no issues. Arrived before the promised date.

by:
2012 Nissan Leaf

The hitch went in extremely simply. I was a little concerned about drilling a hole in the frame, but with the right tool was no problem. Also the how-to video was an excellent reference. This was installed on an electric LEAF and I am super stoked to be pulling a small trailer. My hope is to buy more and install them on fellow LEAF owners here in Juneau. Thanks!

Juneau J.

7/29/2016

Yes, still happy. I have the only electric car in Juneau with a trailer hitch. I am considering getting a newer car, if I do, Ill buy another hitch from you.

by:

The trailer hitch worked fine. I did not love the bike rack, as it always seemed wobbly and I had to use additional bungie cords to secure the bikes. It was definitely not as easy as the Saris Bones bike rack that I have on my other car--that one is awesome. Also, when I went to sell the car, the dealer said that putting a hole in the undercarriage to attach the trailer hitch voided the warranty and caused a huge deduct in what they would offer me for a trade in. I sold the car on Craigslist instead and got my asking price, but this was an annoying thing to find out from the dealer.

2013 Nissan Leaf

I had the hitch installed at The Hybrid shop and they said it was really simple. Keep in mind that adding a hitch to your LEAF voids the warranty from Nissan. My LEAF is a 2013 and I didn't have any issues so I went ahead and had the hitch installed. I only use the hitch for carrying a pair of bikes and it's worked great for that. I had originally been worried that the hitch would make a whistling noise or something like that but no issues.

by:

This hitch was just perfect. It's allowed me to add a very nice Kuat bike rack to my car, which has made heading out for a cycling club ride so much nicer. The hitch was easily installed by a local hitch dealer.

by:
2016 Nissan Leaf

One year with the hitch on my Leaf and I would not have it any other way.
Bike rack to landscaping trailer I can do it all.
Curt by far is the highest quality hitch I have used in the last ten years.

by:

Trailer hitch on car works fantastic for holding my bicycle rack as expected. Do be prepared to spend quite a bit of time trimming the underbody shielding if you want it to look nice. Also be sure you get purpose built sharp metal grinding tools in order to grind out the hold in the frame. My rotary tool and bits almost did not cut it. Other than that look forward to installing the other hitch I ordered. Highly recommend doing business with these guys.

by:

Bought this hitch to use for a receiver-mounted bike rack. Installation went smoothly for an amateur. The instructions were quite helpful, and the fishwire technique went easier than I thought it would . My only issue was that the trimming information for the underbody panel was inaccurate. The PDF instructions specify a width of 3.63", but in actuality the underbody panel needed to be trimmed to 4" wide to clear the steel plate on the hitch. Also, it would be helpful to provide a reference for the width dimension, so installers could more easily locate side-to-side where they should cut.

by:

Perfect fit for Nissan Leaf. So easy to install. The hardest part was reattaching the fascia, well, that and drilling the one hole needed, that frame steel is very hard! It has held a bicycle hitch rack and pulled a trailer, solid performance.

by:

the trailer hitch was relatively easy to install and the wiring was straightforward. i use it to carry my dinghy to the boat ramp and we used it last weekend, still works perfectly.
thanks

by:

item arrived 6 days ahead of the estimate in pristine condition. TIP: Get help lifting the receiver into place to secure the flange nutes. While lifting the receiver alone I pushed one of the bolts into the frame while lifting the receiver into place, forcing me to fish out both bolts and spacer blocks through the enlarged frame hole. This was profoundly frustrating (like a shape/logic puzzle) but I can't think of how I might have avoided it without extra hands. Installation was otherwise easy enough for an amateur using the etrailer youtube video specific for this item and a 2013 Nissan Leaf.

https://www.etrailer.com/tv-install-trailer-hitch-2013-nissan-leaf-c11396.aspx

I hope the bike rack I ordered at the same time will also arrive nearly a week early, that would be sweet.

2013 Nissan Leaf

UPS delivered my hitch yesterday around 4:00 PM and by 7:00 PM last night I had it installed on my 2013 Nissan Leaf. I had watched a video that etrailer posted on youtube a couple of times and I had all the tools ready that I needed. During the installation I stopped a couple of times and came in the house and checked the video to make sure what the next step was. The video was very accurate and all the parts fit perfectly. I am very pleased with the quality of the hitch and the ease of installation.

by:

Perfect fit with a little effort. Instructions were clear & precise. Hitch is hidden and works as advertised. Use it to carry our bikes and occasionally tow a little trailer.

  • Trailer Hitch Availability for a 2015 Nissan Leaf
The Curt Class I hitch you referenced, part # C11396, is confirmed as a fit for the 2015 model year Nissan Leaf. This is a light-duty Class I hitch rated for only 150-lbs of tongue weight. This is enough for use with a 2-bike rack or small cargo carrier as long as the total load on the hitch remains within its 150-lb rating. Do please note that this hitch requires drilling and under-body panel trimming for installation on the 2015 model year. There is currently not a no-drilling hitch option...

  • Is the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11396 Compatible with the 2013 Leaf S Model
My contact at Curt tells me Curt hitch # C11396 is a fit for all models of the 2013 Nissan Leaf, including the S model. If you want to do some light duty towing you will want the following parts: The recommended ball mount for this hitch is # C45520. The recommended pin and clip is # F-4. The recommended 1-7/8" hitch ball is # C40001. The recommended 2" hitch ball is # C40018. I like that the hitch is almost entirely hidden and keeps the back of your Lexus looking sleek. I have two hitches that are a confirmed fit for your 2015 Nissan Leaf. One is a Curt # C11396, 1.25" x 1.25" Class I hitch supporting up to 150 pounds tongue weight. (Check your vehicles limits as well.) The other is an EcoHitch # 306-X7221...

  • 2" Hitch for 2015 Nissan Leaf
I checked the fit guide for your 2015 Nissan Leaf and found only the two hitches that you are referring to. Generally speaking, the cost of hitches are higher as you request a larger size and higher load capacity due to the increased labor and materials cost to produce them. The Curt # C11396 Class-I hitch that fits your Leaf has a 1.25" receiver, 150 pound cargo capacity, and 1500 pound towing capacity, whereas the EcoHitch # 306-X7221 has a 2" receiver with 300 pounds of cargo capacity,...

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Fit For 2013 Nissan Leaf
I couldn't find any mention of a center mounted fog light, so if your 2013 Nissan Leaf is factory, there is a hitch that fits. If you're referencing an aftermarket center fog light, so long as it does not interfere with the frame under the bumper then the hitch will also fit. What you will need is the following: - Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11396 That'll give you the hitch, and if you also plan on doing some light towing you'll need a few other parts to complete the set up: - Curt...
