How To Haul A 4 Bike Rack On A 2012 Nissan Leaf
Question:
I would like recommendations for a hitch and 4-bike trailer for my 2012 Nissan Leaf. I would love the Thule T2 Pro XTR but dont have the extra money to spend that much. Which hitch and associated 4-bike trailers are the ones you would recommend

I would recommend going to a class 3 hitch like The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7184 over The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11396. The EcoHitch has a tongue weight up to 300 pounds when the Curt hitch has a tongue weight up to 150 pounds. I would double check your manual to find out the proper tongue weight capacity for your vehicle.
The Eco hitch also has a 2 inch receiver when the Curt hitch has a 1-1/4 inch receiver. You will have more options on hitch mounted accessories with the 2 inch hitch.
The EcoHitch has an easy bolt-on installation with no drilling or welding required. It has a black powder coat finish that offers a superior rust protection.
The Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR can carry up to 4 bikes weighing up to 35 pounds per bike. When using a class 1 hitch like the curt hitch above you can only carry 2 bikes. So to carry all 4 bikes you will need the EcoHitch.
The bike rack has a tilting mast that allows for an easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. The Snug-Tite hitch accessory # THSTL2 (sold separately) will lock your carrier to the hitch.
