I liked the Curt hitch over the others bc it is better built. The installation was easy. I did have to enlarge an existing hole to pass the back up plates.
The alignment was not perfect and took a bit of effort to pull the hitch into position for the single bolt at the factory tow hook. Could have been distorted from the welding process or original packaging. None the less it`s bolted up and very strong...

2011 Nissan Versa

The Curt trailer hitch has worked perfect. It pulls a 4x8 trailer behind my 'll Versa. Only issue is what others have mentioned, it can bump up against the muffler making a buzzing sound. Solved by loosening the two bolts on the left side, and tapped it back a little and re-tightened.

by:

I had two minor "issues" installing the hitch, but in the end it's still getting 5 stars. Shipping and customer service were great - this includes customer service from etrailer and Curt. It wasn't packaged all too well but given it's all steel I wasn't really concerning. Installation is easy once the access hole is enlarged. To enlarge it to an inch I used a step drill bit, but there may be easier options. It's now installed and working great hauling around bikes. Absolutely satisfied and would def do business with Curt and etrailer again.

Below are the two minor issues:
1) The muffler was rattling on the hitch after the first install. The two mounting holes on the left of the hitch are slotted and can be moved forward or back about an inch before the bolts are tightened. I loosened the bolts and slid it back all the way (giving more room for the muffler) and retorqued. Problem solved.
2) Slight creaking sound from right side of hitch while carrying bikes. This came from the sheet metal covering the tow-loop. The top metal plate (provided with hitch) interferes slightly and has to sit at a slight angle, one side being on top of the sheet metal and the other side off (this will make sense if you have the issue). One of the two possible angles would creak against the sheet metal with the bikes attached, but the other angle didn't. So I just torqued mine down with the angle that didn't creak, but it very well may return. Worst case scenario, grind back the sheet metal just a centimeter so it can't rub. This should fix it for sure.

This isn't enough of a reason to NOT buy this product. Clearance seems to be good as I haven't rubbed even on steep driveways or speed bumps. Only rubbing I've had is with a bike rack installed it (the rack) can rub over a speed bump if you go over too fast, but this is totally expected. Overall I love it and highly recommend it!

I love the product itself. I use it for my bike rack all the time. However, I still have issues with my muffler rattling on it loud vibrations through chassis! when Im going around 70mph or faster. I pulled the hitch receiver as far away as possible but still doesnt solve it. Ive considered trying different muffler hangers or taking it to a muffler shop and see if there is a way to keep it from bumping.

We have a number of tricks that we use to correct this issue when we run into it in our shops. Changing out the different rubber hangers can be an option, but most often flexing the the hanger pegs that are welded to the exhaust works the best. I have added a link to the Tech Article we have about the fixes.

2007 Nissan Versa

Great Hitch for a tiny car. I installed this hitch yesterday, and the only issues I had were self induced due to my lack of knowledge or experience. I experienced the rattling that another reviewer described, but it was a quickly fixed by sliding the the hitch rearward a half inch.

The Step Drill Bit I had to buy was pricey, but a great addition to my tool chest.

Nissan Versa

We decided to have it installed by a muffler shop since we had read some reviews of tight fits causing rattling with the Versa. And we did have a rattle from the muffler banging into the hitch at idle that the shop was able to address after a couple of attempts.

Had more to do with position of muffler after previous repairs than the hitch itself. But once that was sorted hitch works great and is silent.

by:
2009 Nissan Versa

Once installed the trailer hitch had less than 1 cm clearance from my muffler (2009 Nissan Versa). Product is not designed with enough clearance and creates friction/rattling while idling and when suspension causes the body to drop slightly (over speed bumps, etc).

2009 Nissan Versa

Great hitch. Got it for my daughter's 2009 Versa to carry a bike rack. Very straightforward install. Thanks for the video. Make sure the hole you drill is at least 1". I used a 1" bit and reamed it out a little. Looks great. No issues with rattles.

by:

The hitch was made to fit and installation was not to labor intensive. I am hearing substantial banging noises that I need to troubleshoot, which I'm guessing is just a simple tweaking of the hitch position.

2011 Nissan Versa

Hitch fit great on my 2011 Nissan Versa Sedan. Install was pretty easy, just follow the directions.

by:

Install took about an hour for me. I did have to enlarge the hole as described in the instructions. Everything else bolted up nicely. Since I was installing by myself, and did not have a vehicle lift, I used 2 Jack Stands, laying side ways, to help hold the hitch close to in place for the final install. This was a huge help while trying to fish the bolts out through the frame and into the hitch itself.

by:

Product was easy to install and works great! All the parts came with the hitch and the instruction were really easy to follow. So glad that e-trailer posted a video of how to install. It made the job so much easier!

by:

Easy cheese! This only took me 90 minutes from start to finish. The longest part for me was expanding the original hole in the frame. Held up one end with a tire jack, and the other with my hand to thread the bolt through the tow hook. The other side is a little tricky, but it's super easy. And you can watch their videos on youtube.

by:

Easy InstallWell I didn't actually install it myself, but my uncle did and he said it was easy. :-) Instructions say there will be a hole to drill, but we didn't have to one mine. Looks great and fits great.

by:

No problems after a year of regular use, switching vehicles!

DID THE JOB THANKS FIT WELL

They both have 1-1/4 inch receivers and install in the same way. I have included links to the installation details for each below. • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2007 Nissan Versa
It isn't a question of legality so legally, yes, you could install a hitch and tow the small boat and trailer with your 2007 Nissan Versa. If you were to take the vehicle in for warranty work and they saw the hitch they could say that it voids the vehicle warranty. But consumers are protected by the Magnussen-Moss warranty act that states, in part, that if you install an aftermarket part on your car then it will not void the warranty unless that part caused the problem. • Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2011 Nissan Versa Hatchback with Factory Spoiler
For a trunk rack that would work best on your 2011 Nissan Versa I would recommend the Thule Gateway Pro E TH88VR, it was designed to minimize the stress on the spoiler. Due to your vehicle having a soft bumper I would recommend you go with a hitch and hitch mounted bike rack since this route doesn't contact the vehicle at all. For a hitch you would want the Curt Class 1 Hitch part # C11348. For a bike rack the most popular one we offer is the Swagman XTC-2 bike rack part # S64670. Check...

  • Effect of Using Brophy Hitch Adapter HTAD on 2009 Nissan Versa for Bike and Cargo Hitch Carriers
The Brophy 1-1/4 to 2-Inch Trailer Hitch Adapter # HTAD fits any 1-1/4-inch hitch and converts that receiver opening to the 2-inch size used for many hitch-mount accessory items, items like bike racks such as the Pro Series # 63153. Do please note though that use of any adapter like this causes you to lose half of the hitch's rated capacity. This loss of hitch weight capacity occurs because the actual weight load is being moved further away from the hitch where it exerts more leverage...

  • How to Carry 3 Bikes on a 2011 Nissan Versa Hatchback
I have a solution that will allow you to carry 3 bikes on your 2011 Nissan Versa hatchback but not with a trailer hitch. It isn't the weight of the bikes and rack that is the issue with Class I hitches. It is the distance the third or more bikes would be from the hitch receiver. That distance puts a lot of leverage on the hitch receiver; like when a lug nut is easier to loosen the longer the handle is on the wrench. To carry 3 bikes on your Versa I recommend a trunk mount bike rack. I...

A Class I hitch, including the Curt # C11348 that would fit on your 2010 Nissan Versa has a relatively low tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. The tongue weight capacity represents the maximum amount of weight that can be safely hung from the hitch. This means that your Harmar AL 160 Profile Scooter Lift plus the weight of the scooter itself could weigh no more than 200 lbs. Exceeding that weight limit could cause the hitch to bend or the hitch attachments to the vehicle to fail, which...
