Compatibility of Curt Class I Hitch on 2010 Nissan Versa with Mobility Scooter Carrier
Question:
I have a 2010 Nissan Versa . I want to put on a Curt receiver hitch Class 1 to accommodate a scooter lift. The scooter lift a a Harmar AL160 Profile Scooter lift. Will this hitch be able to bare the weight of the scooter lift? thank you.

A Class I hitch, including the Curt # C11348 that would fit on your 2010 Nissan Versa has a relatively low tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. The tongue weight capacity represents the maximum amount of weight that can be safely hung from the hitch.
This means that your Harmar AL 160 Profile Scooter Lift plus the weight of the scooter itself could weigh no more than 200 lbs. Exceeding that weight limit could cause the hitch to bend or the hitch attachments to the vehicle to fail, which would be bad.
Your best bet would either be a different vehicle that can use a Class III hitch with a higher weight capacity, or to use a small trailer like # K2MMT5X7. If you decided to go with a trailer, you'd want to go with the # C11348 hitch plus the recommended ball mount, part # C45520. The trailer I recommended uses a 2 inch ball, like part # C40018. You'd also need a trailer wiring harness installed on the vehicle, part # 118545 and a pin and clip, part # F-4.
