Trailer Wiring for 2006 Honda Pilot 4WD to Tow Small Trailer

Question:

Since adding this to my Pilot for attaching a bicycle rack, I am now want to use it with a motocross bike hitch carrier not a trailer. The carrier can hold 2 dirt bikes for total of 600lbs, but I am at only 450lbs but still over the tongue weight of this hitch is 350lbs. Is there a way for me to use this hitch with the 2 bikes? Pilot tongue weight I believe is 500lbs. Pictures of hitch carrier for reference.

As someone with a dirt bike and an SUV I can appreciate your situation but there's no safe way to carry a double motorcycle carrier on your Pilot due to it having too low of a tongue weight capacity. You'd have to look into a small trailer to do this which would require trailer wiring like the # 118336 and a ball mount.

If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
