Hi everyone. Aiden here with the etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Reese Pop-in ball for your factory puck system on our 2023 Ram 2500. Now, if you're looking for a way to get a gooseneck in the bed of your truck and you've got the factory puck system a drop-in kit like this is the easiest way to do it because all you gotta do is drop it into place flip that latch down, and then it's locked in. That latch will lift up and twist and release these ball bearings on the side. When it's engaged, they pop out which hold it down in place.
Some things to note with this one though is that it doesn't come with safety chain loops. There are some available that you can find on our site but they're sold separately. If you're not interested in that and you want something that's gonna be an all-in-one kit Kurt has one that's going to be very similar to this in terms of weight capacity, and it's going to come with the safety chain loops and a carrying case to keep it all organized whenever you're not using it. This particular one though is going to be a three inch diameter so it's actually a bit bigger than those options from Kurt that I mentioned. Those are gonna be two and five 16 inch balls.
This one offers a 40,000 pound weight capacity while the larger version of the Curt is only around 38,000. Keep in mind with those weight capacities that's what the balls are rated for not necessarily your truck or the hitch inside the truck. Be sure to check those components and go by the lowest rated components so we're not overloading anything in our towing setup. You've got a chrome plating around the ball to help resist rust and corrosion over time. It doesn't make it immune, but it does help and really that's all there is to it.
Again, with this, you'll need to pick up the safety chain kit if you want to get hauling, and if you're not interested in getting separate parts, pick up one of those Curt kits and that'll give you everything you need to get up and rolling with a gooseneck in your truck bed. The taller ball solves the problem of the gooseneck hitting the bed. All hitches should come new with the high rise ball.
etrailer staff helped me get the Curt Ball (which rusted badly in under 2 years) out of my F350.
They recommended the Reese ball...hopefully this one won't rust and jam....I doused the balls liberally with silicone grease before installation.

I have a 2013 Ram 3500 DRW with the factory installed gooseneck hitch. I did not order the factory gooseneck ball and safety chain loops. This product is the exact thing your order from Ram. I ordered this item and the tall safety chain loops, and it was forty dollars cheaper than the kit from Ram. The gooseneck ball fits perfectly and is well built. The release mechanism is easy to use even with gloves on.
Quality product. With a standard ball, I either had 5 inches of clearance or had to adjust the coupler which gave me 7.5 inches of clearance but had the trailer quite nose high. The "High-Rise" gave me the clearance I needed between the gooseneck trailer and the tailgate of my 2018 RAM 3500 Dually. I was able to lower the gooseneck coupler and using the High-Rise now have about 6.25 inches of clearance.

This Ball is doing a great job for me I pull a goose neck trailer all the time , I have pulled multiple 12000 Lbs loads for a total of around 7800 Miles no problem to this point . Easy to install and remove I just keep it lubed for good trailer reaction and handling and go with no worries.
Product arrived and functioned exactly as described. Very easy to use and install. thus far no problems whatsoever. We use this in our F-350 bed to attach our Anderson hitch and tow our 5th wheel.
I had just recently installed the mopar oem gooseneck hitch onto my Ram 2500 and found out the ram oem gooseneck ball was recalled so I needed to find a replacement. The dealer was selling the curt gooseneck and chain tie downs for the puck system which my truck has but the problem was is that I liked the Reese gooseneck ball and the curt tie downs. my research found out that the Andersen chain loops didn’t close around the Reese model. So I decided to mix and match. I purchased the reese drop in gooseneck ball and the curt tie downs. They arrived two days after I made the order by phone. They said two days and it was two days exactly. When I opened the boxes the parts were neatly packaged with no damage. I am very happy.
My order came about because of Dodge RAM’s recall of their gooseneck ball. They don’t have an answer as to why the ball is not staying in place, or who the manufacturer is. I have a suspicion that Mopar is Reese. I’m pleased with what I received and how it installed, a great fit. Time will eventually show the product is fine and that those very few that have had issues more than likely made a hasty install and failed to take the time to give it a couple of tugs to insure a secure connection. Very satisfied with this ball. It is very easy to remove and install keeping the floor of my truck bed clear and usable when I'm not pulling a trailer.

Bought this Ball for my factory installed Ford F-350 hitch package. It is slick and the price was right . The only issue is I paid for 3 day shipping and the carrier took 7 days.
Exactly the item I wanted and has the quality you expect from Reese and etrailer. I understand that the Big Box website named after the river is the 800-pound gorilla in the room. However, if etrailer has what you want, check them out. They have knowledgable people to speak with if needed. Prices are close to the same and in my case, arrives faster than that other website.
