How to Tell if High-Low Adapter is Needed for Flat Towing with a Roadmaster Nighthawk Tow Bar

Question:

is a drop hitch hookup recommended for the roadmaster nighthawk on the RV. I noticed in the videos they had one. I assume to keep the bar more level with the towed vehicle blue ox brackets. our rv hitch is 19 inches to center.

A high-low adapter isn't always necessary, but it's needed when your tow bar is outside of the "Safe Zone" which is your towed vehicle base plate brackets being within 3" of level with the center of your motorhome hitch receiver (see attached).

If you don't know whether or not the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain # RM-677 is outside that safe zone just let me know what the year/make/model is on your vehicle and I can compare the Roadmaster base plate kit height listing with the 19" motorhome measurement that you took!

I'm also attaching a link to our high-low adapter article for you to check out. One thing to note is that if you end up using a high-low adapter you likely also need to get some safety cable extensions to ensure your cables are long enough.
