Video Transcript for Review of Viair Tire Inflator - Portable Air Compressor - VA29WR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this VIAIR 150 PSI Automatic Portable RV Air Compressor Kit. Now this kit will inflate your tires on your vehicle using this powerful portable air compressor that'll connect directly to your vehicle's battery. This will give you a maximum air pressure of 150 PSI. This kit is designed for tires 42 inch diameter and smaller. So it is perfect for a lot of the off-road tires that are out there.

The fill rate on this is zero to 30 PSI for about four minutes to seven minutes depending on the tire size. This part will include everything laid out here on the table. It includes the air compressor with the battery clamps, the 30 foot long extension air hose. The tire inflation gun with the 160 PSI in line gauge, comes with air filter and extra filters. The three piece accessory inflation tips, suppress the valve adapter.

And a nice durable, rugged carrying case for storing everything in. Now these battery clamps right here are designed to attach directly to your vehicle's 12 volt battery. The cord on this is an eight foot long fused cord. And you see it has a fuse in it, to reach most battery locations. And on the end of the compressor here, it has the on and off switch.

So what I am gonna do is gonna go hook this up to some 12 volt power just so you can see how the noise level is of the compressor. Just once we get this hooked up, you'll notice when I throw the switch, you can hear the compressor running. It's pretty quiet for such a large compressor. Then you can turn it off. And then again turn it back on just like that.

Now also what's nice is it has this vibration resistant diamond plate sand tray on the bottom here. And this will help keep your compressor in place cause it does vibrate. So when you put this down and you turn it on, when it's vibrating like that, it'll drybrate, it has these rubber bumpers on there, so it'll vibrate but it'll not slide around because of this tray it'll stay in place. Now this system does use the automatic shutoff function which will eliminate the need for turning your compressor on and off between tire fills. We mentioned this 30 foot long inside braided extension hose. This will give you, or lets you be able to access or reach any of the hard to reach valve stems that you can just slide on like that and you're all ready to go. This then you can slide onto there to do your inflation and when you're done, just pull it and it comes right off. Easy to install. The tire inflation gun right here has 160 PSI inline gauge and on the other end right here you can see it has the folding lever air chuck. So you put this on your valves stem and push that lever down. It'll hold it in place so it doesn't move around or come loose. Does have on the side here this little button that when you push it that's a bleeder valve, gives you a pressure adjustment. And the length of the rubber hose on this is about 12 inches. Now it does give you three accessory tips to help keep your toys and mattresses aired up on your trip. And then it even gives you this press to valve adapter and what that's used for is most of your valve stems on your tires are all schrader valves. But there are some bicycles that use presta valves. It's a different type of valve and that's what this adapter was. You would screw this into your chuck there and then be able to use it on a presta valve. The bag we mentioned is a nice rugged carrying bag for easy transport of everything. We can put it all in one place, carry it where you need it or store it. At the end of this video I'm gonna show you how this all will go into the bag. Few specs on this, the voltage is 12 volts, maximum amp draw, 23 amps. Maximum air pressure we mention is 150 PSI, and the maximum air flow is 1.8 cubic feet per minute. Now what's nice on this compressor, it is a duty cycle of a hundred percent at a hundred PSI. And what that means is the a hundred percent duty cycle is capable of pressures up to 150 PSI and can be operated for up to one hour at a time before needing to be rested. Last thing is is the weight on this is only about 13 pounds. And the dimensions on this, if we go from this end to this end, the length of it is gonna be right at 12 and a half inches long. The width, which is gonna be the bottom part you can see that's gonna be five and seven eight inches wide. And the overall height to the tallest point from the bottom to the highest point is right at about seven and a half inches tall. So what we're gonna do is I'm gonna go ahead and disconnect it from our power. Once we get that connected, what I'll do is go ahead and open this bag. It has two buckle clips here that you can open, take the lid down. Once you get your lid down, there's two zippers here. Open them all the way. And once you get this open all the way it's pretty large opening you can see here. You can take your compressor, drop it right into place, put our battery cables in with it. And there's enough room to take your inflation gun with your hoses. Go ahead and put that in there. Now the air filter here with the extra filters that would usually be installed on the compressor, so you wouldn't have to be storing that, but I'm just gonna put those in there for now. And then what I would recommend doing, these small pieces like these accessory tips, there's a nice little storage bag here on the side that you can drop all that in place. Close that up and keep them there. And then what you'll do is go ahead and zip this back into place. And again, you can use one zipper all the way around, I'll just put in the two right there. And then you have this last piece, this extension hose. And what's nice about that they have its own separate compartment for that. So same way you open this all the way up and then take this, put that in there, put that in there. You can see that'll fit right in there. Go ahead and zipper it closed. Now with everything zippered close and in place flip your lid back over. Just like that, snap it in one buckle. Snap it in the second buckle and just like that you can see now everything is stored all in one bag. Take it where you need it, store it, have everything together so you don't lose anything. But that should do it for the review on the VIAIR 150 PSI Automatic Portable RV Air Compressor Kit..

As usual I am happy with the always excellent customer service and quick shipping. I am however disappointed in the product. This Viar portable air compressor is replacing one I had for over 10-years which was not sufficient for my current needs and was very happy with it for longevity and performance. I am however unhappy with what I received. The photos associated with the unit I purchased showed battery alligator clamps for power, what I received only has a 7-pin connector. This is problematic because Besides my RV which does have a 7-pin connector, I was hoping to use it in our car which does not. Additionally, while my RV does have a 7-pin plug, I understand it will not power equipment that does not have running lights.

Loving it! Very reliable, easy to use, and have had no issues with it. Happy with our purchase.

I got this to replace a regular 400P Viair compressor that had a very unfortunate hose failure. I guess it speaks to their reliability that despite the fact that the hose on my 15 year old compressor failed I got a new one from the same company.

The automatic feature, meaning that if you lift off the trigger the compressor stops, is really nice. And the automatic 400P has a MUCH better hose. Note that the regular 400P hose, the yellow one, is I think nylon, and Viair recommends it not be used below freezing. Which might have been in part why my old one broke.

It does irritate me that Viair uses a non standard female to female quick release hose. Why not do it like all other air tool set ups? female compressor to male at one end of the hose, female at the other, and male on the tools. Sheesh. In any case, relatively easy to put together a gender switcher (heh) so you could use a regular hose rated for the compressor's pressure.

The gauge on this seems to run a bit high, but again it's better than the regular 400P because if you let the compressor stop you get a true reading. A tad high compared to my regular air pressure gauge and my TPMS, but consistent which is the most important point.

Also, I MUCH prefer the chuck on this. The regular 400P has a non bending metal bit that is tough to fit onto valves on the tires on my truck and some trailers I've used. I had to bend the valve and fight it to get a good connection; it just got in the way of itself. Ugh. This connection is MUCH better. Smooth fitting, and tight.

I noticed it takes a few beats before the compressor turns off after you lift off the trigger. But again, it's consistent so once you know that you anticipate and lift off a bit earlier.

It also has a stickier base, so it doesn't seem to walk around as much. A nice touch.

All in all it was worth it to upgrade to the automatic from the regular 400P even though I was forced into it. Especially since etrailer had it on sale. Thanks etrailer!

Works very well. I use it for inflating tires and pushing liquids out of my RV water supply lines for winter.

I love the design engineering of the pump. 1 year ago I had purchased a smaller pump but it couldn't pump 4 tires to 123m lbs. kept shutting down when it got too hot. Hopefully this on will be able to do that.

by:

there was a defective air filter housing but Viair is supposed to send me a replacement

by:

EASY TO SET UP AND VERY QUICK TO FOLLOW THE USE.

by:

Quick smooth transaction , good communication AAA+
