The Konig XB-16 Pro tire chains are great all-purpose, winter weather chains. If you live in an area where you're likely to get periodic snow and ice, these Konig chains are perfect because they're durable and easy to mount. If you're more likely to see seriously icy conditions, you may want a chain with V-bar links that can really bite into the ice to give you maximum traction.
These chains are among the easiest and fastest to install because they have built-in tensioners that you can just pull taut to adjust the fit. These tensioners allow the chains to fit your tires, no matter the profile or wear pattern. And because the tensioners are built-in, you never have to worry about losing them like you might with other chains on the market.
If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.
We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.
You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even these low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.
Installing these chains is incredibly simple.
1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks in the chains.
2. Slide the chain behind the tire and connect the ends of the blue cable, which will sit behind the tire.
3. Around front, connect the red hook to the red link.
4. At the bottom of the tire, feed the tensioning chain through the large clip and tug it until it's tight.
5. Feed the tensioning chain through as many red clips along the side chain as you can, leaving room to still be able to stretch the hook across the tire. Attach the hook to the side chain directly across from the last clip you ran the tensioner through. The hook should face away from your tire.
6. Drive forward around 325' (about the length of a football field) and stop. Check the chains and tighten them as needed.
Quick Tips:
To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Communicated with Customer Service one time and they were very prompt to respond. All told, a solid experience. Now we just have to figure out how to install....
Very great product, works very well. However, the instructions are absolutely terrible and it takes a minute to figure out how to put them on. The case is flimsy as well.
I live in LA and purchased this tire chain because I was going on a road trip to some national parks and mountains up in Vancouver. It's pretty easy to out on and remove. Worked perfectly for me. In snow, you can't drive more than 25 miles anyway.
I also like the case that comes with it. I've only used it once and that's my experience.
I received the snow chains at the promised delivery date. I have test fit them on my 2016 Ford Escape and driven around the block, on dry pavement. I can't really comment on how well the work in the snow, but the installation was straight forward and simple, just as shown in the video. My hands were a tight squeeze to fit between the tire and the fender, but doable in gloves.
I didn't look at the directions, so I missed the trick for removal. You need to roll the car forward or backwards until the trigger clip is at the bottom, the same location as when the chains are installed. That puts the cable connection at the top of the tire, where it was when installed. Doing that makes removal as easy as the installation.
I am very happy with etrailer.com and their customer service, delivery were all very easy! Product arrived on time and in great shape! I will definitely recommend them to my friends and family!
Haven't used them yet but I have done a fit check and everything fits perfect. Was extremely happy with the fast shipping and the customer service provided by Etrailer. Will def. buy from again!
I have used these twice in the snow and they worked great on my 2017 ford escape.
Great service! The chains arrived the very next day. We haven't used them yet, but we read a review online that these are excellent chains for our Volvo. Thank you so much etrailer!
Only used them one time they were fairly easy to install except for the cold.
These chains were way too light duty for me. They were too small to even get through the snow down to the ice. In addition, the connectors are very small and very difficult to hook together with gloves on. Once they fill with snow and ice and they freeze, good luck getting them off as well. Ended up buying a set of regular old chains for half the price
ordering and delivery both easy and timely,Konig included everything per website.Test fit in garage proves correct sizing, thank you
Very pleased with this purchase, I've done a few practice runs putting them on my Ram Promaster van but have not had to use them in a real snow situation in this 1st year (very happy with the ease of use factor and snug fit)
Fantastic customer service, constant follow up from etrailer.com. I need the product urgently and it arrived in a couple of days all the way to Canada! The product is very high quality and was easy to install. I have a cottage with a steep hill and when it’s full of ice it’s very tough to get up even with my 4x4 now I don’t have to put sand and salt down for 500 plus feet! Konig chains are a life saver.
Thank you!
I’ve been running this type of chain on all of my vehicles, including a motorhome for over 25 years they are the best
Great set of chains. I was able to put on in the dark. It was a little trickier taking them off because you need to position the car so the link behind the wheel is accessible, but still easy to do.
After having these for a full winter season, I can say that they were well worth the purchase. 4.5 stars. Traction was supreme, and ease of install and removal is everything they say - awesome! Removed a star only because the plastic clips that route the little tensioning chain were quickly broken, and the rubber end is marginal. However when installed on my 2wd truck, I pulled a small box trailer up and down a very icy and steep slope (dirt road at scout camp) - without a hint of wheelspin. Same area immediately before chain install had cars and 4wd trucks stuck on a gentle grade. These are not smooth at all on pavement, but a lifesaver when needed.
Shipping was fast and accurate. When I called customer service at 6 p.m., an employee answered quickly and answered my questions efficiently.
The installation videos helped greatly, and these chains seem to be holding up well. After driving through snow and slush, I tried removing the chains. The tension clip was difficult to open because of the frozen slush. I proceeded to chip out the ice laying in the dark to remove the chains. Overall, great chains and I am glad they went on easily. I make sure to bring them inside after use in order to melt the ice.
Theses were exactly what I was looking for, easy and quick to install while not breaking the bank. Been using them for two days now and no problems or concerns as of yet.
These chains are the best I've ever owned. Quick install and take off and a smoother ride than traditional chains!
More. Companies should be more like ETrailer. Great customer servixe
Bought these two years ago for use with my 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for driving on the lake pulling an ice house. First time out after buying them, I got the ice house hung up on a snowbank. Threw a set of these on the rear tires and got out with ease. Super easy to instal on the go even while stuck. Only reason for a 4 star over a 5 star is the plastic clips for running the tension chain through seem weaker than I’d like.
The product looks well made and of high quality hope not to need to use them but need it a set for upcoming trip. Fitted for a 2019 RAV4.
Installation was fairly simple. Delivery was quick. I can’t figure out what the gray plastic clip is for in the photo. Any ideas?
Pricier than everything else, but attached well as advertised and functioned well.
