DeeZee's Tailgate Assist makes it much easier and safer to lower your heavy tailgate. It helps to prevent injuries and makes opening your tailgate easier on your back, arms, and shoulders.
This tailgate-lowering system is custom designed for your vehicle's factory tailgate cable. It uses a shock absorber as well as a ball-and-socket connection at the truck to make opening your tailgate smooth and easy.
The Tailgate Assist is built to last. It's carefully tested to make sure it will stand up to heavy use. Installing a Tailgate Assist takes just a few minutes using the included hardware, and you don't have to drill into your truck bed. Only one Tailgate Assist kit is necessary for your tailgate. Just install it on one side of your tailgate, and you're good to go.

The install video on the etrailer site is most helpful. The shock does help lower the tailgate - hands free. Supplying the tool to remove the tailgate cable bolt was much appreciated. Only 3 stars because of less than 1 day use and limited data on long term use lowering the weight of an F250 tailgate.

I can’t believe I waited so long to buy this device. It is amazing. The tailgate is quite big on our F250 pickup. It is always a challenge to open it while holding something. This little device changed all of that.
The install was very easy. The directions are well written. It took less than 10 minutes start to finish. I’ll never own a pickup truck without one of these again.

Super easy to install. 15 minutes. Directions with pictures easy to follow. My big, heavy tailgate didn't slam down after installation. Piston and hardware are heavy duty so hopefully they will last. Highly recommend!

This is the fourth one of these I have purchased and installed. Easy to install with great instructions it was done in about 30 minutes. Great product wouldn’t own a pickup truck without one. Makes life easier lowering that heavy tailgate.

This tailgate assist works perfectly! It took about 10 minutes to install. I’m 5’2” and no longer concerned about the tailgate falling on me when I try to open it! I would recommend this to anyone that has a large pickup.

Great addition to the truck! Not sure why Ford doesn’t include this feature. Easily installed as shown in their video. I suggest getting a T50 socket to use for better leverage on removal and reinstalling the star bolt.

Great tailgate assist. Smooth operation and keeps the tailgate from banging or slipping out of your hand when opening it.
Only caution is watch video on installation to make sure you have the orientation correct. It’s very difficult to remove to ball joint once installed.

I previously had a Toyota Tundra that had a factory tailgate shock similar to this. After the purchase of my Ford F350 (which didn't have one,) I quickly realized how much I needed some way to slow the dropping of the tailgate. This worked fine and was very easy to install.

I love the fact that I can open the tailgate and not have to hold its weight so it doesn’t bang open. The only thing I wish that it would also help with closing the tailgate, too.

I installed the tailgate assist on my 2018 Ford F250 and it works well. I do see a potential issue with the rubber cable cover next to the tailgate clip wearing over time. This may cause issues with the rubber and the paint on the side of the tailgate even with the supplied protective sheet. I'm going to try shaving the rubber piece down a bit to try and prevent this. Other than this it seems to be a good addition to the truck. It will be interesting to see how it performs in cold temperatures.

- Will Hopkins EasyLift Fit 2020 Ford F-250 With Tailgate StepHopkins only confirms fitment of the # 74211 up through the 2007 model of the F-250 due to changes in the tailgate construction. Since this hasn't been tested we cannot guarantee it will work. The only thing we have that is confirmed to fit your 2020 F-250 is the DeeZee Tailgate Assist # DZ43205. However, this is only designed to control lowering of the tailgate.

Still works great! Its been great not having the tailgate every time its opened. It closes easy just like it wasnt there but slowly lowers every time its opened.
