Video Transcript for Rhino Rack Roof Rack Review - 2017 Ram 2500
Today on 2017 RAM 2500 we'll be taking a look at the Rhino Rack Roof Rack kit. This is consisting of part numbers RRVA150B-2, those are going to be our Vortex Aero Crossbars. The next part number is RRRLKVA, those are our Rhino Rack 2500 Series legs. For our foot kit the part number is going to be DK043. Now you'll see we already have our front bar installed. We're going to put together our last leg kit and then show you how to load this back bar up onto our vehicle. Everything that you see here comes in our kit.
We've got our leg kit portion. We have the fit kit, the clamp and the pad. Our end cap for our crossbar, the only thing you'll need to provide is a flat tape measure of some sort. We have a key for the crossbar end cap. Keys for our cover for our leg kit, and then our included tool that's going to tighten that down. We'll start by taking our foot pack.
We're going to remove this bolt, take our clamp, place it on, and start to tighten that down. We don't want to tighten that down too much, we just want to have it tight enough so that our clamp stays on. Then we'll pop off this bottom piece. We're going to take our pad and secure that to the plastic portion, making sure that the seals are completely covered and that this is completely secured down. Then we'll place this back on and we can slide it on to our crossbar. We want this nut to slide into this channel here at the bottom.
You will get measuring pieces with this that you can actually cut and set in place in these slots here. We're not going to use those today, but you can cut those up, set them in place and fill up the gaps, so that's going to help reduce wind noise and drag. We're going to have 15.7 centimeters. Take our included tool and we'll tighten down this bolt here. Double check that measurement, and then I like to place on my crossbar end cap. Then we'll lock with our key.
Now we can open up our truck doors and get ready to load up our crossbar. Now keep in mind that these crossbars have a 165 pound weight capacity as you want to check your vehicle's owner manual to make sure the roof can withstand that much weight. These are going to be great to use if you have a ladder rack installed on your truck as well. We're going to take our crossbar and set it across. I do suggest you use a stepstool or a ladder of some sort to help you reach up and secure it in place. Now we can take our measurement for our crossbar spread. We're going to measure from the center of our front foot pack to the center of the back. I like to use the middle of the clamp here as a reference point. Then we'll do the same thing to the other side. Anytime that we do something to one side we always want to do it to the other. Especially when it comes to putting these in the right place, or when tightening them down. You want it to remain even on each side. Now we can go back and forth tightening those down using our included tool. I like to start by tightening it down so that my clamp sits right up against our door. Then once I have both of these in place I'll go back and forth doing about five to ten turns on each side. Now what's great about these crossbars is they have a black powder coat finish. It's going to help to reduce rust and corrosion. It's also going to have that weatherstrip at the top that can be removed and cut so that you can carry channel mounted accessories on your vehicles roof, but still help to reduce that wind noise and drag by inserting that weatherstrip in the open space. This also works with clamp on accessories, and many accessories will work this, whether that's bike racks, cargo baskets, cargo boxes, waters port carriers, or ski and snowboard carriers. We know when it's completely tight when the skinny portion of our tool here straightens out. As you're seeing there it'll straighten out as we turn that. We can close up our doors. Make sure we do the same thing over here. Then we can grab our covers and lock those into place. The crossbar end caps are going to help to prevent theft and tampering of any channel mounted accessories. This is going to help to prevent theft and tampering of your roof rack. We'll just those into place and we're ready to hit the road. That's going to be our completed look at the Rhino Rack Roof Rack Kit and how it fits on our 2017 RAM 2500.

All items ordered were as described wind were easy to install . The shipping was less than stellar . Tforce sat on the items for 3 business days before finally calling . No tracking was provided for tforce till I called in to etrailer questioning why shipment went from ups to T FORCE . Driver from t force claimed he could not get into address location per length of his trailer . Had to meet driver at another address . Came back to original delivery address and fed ex freight was sitting in parking lot just fine ( had same size trailer as TFORCE ) . Tforce Driver was basically being lazy by not coming to original address . Hope etrailer changes shipping companies

Purchased for a Ram 3500 crew cab to transport my kayak while pulling a 5th wheel. Installation was fairly simple as long as you follow instructions. All the parts were correct and it looks good on the truck. The rack system feels robust and I'm sure will do its job as intended. Products arrive 3 days early!

The rack fit well and was easy to install. Seems to be made well. The problem is the amount of road noise. I never even put the basket on. It was so loud, it roared. I repositioned it several times but the noise was way too much and I finally just removed it. I spent a lot of money for the rack and the basket and now they are in storage. I wish it would have worked out better because I thought it looked really good.

Looks good. Fits good. Loads easy enough. I like the rear load rollers. My truck is tall and I am small. I pull the kayaks up into Thor bed and push them up the rest roller without too much difficulty. I have not traveled with them yet.

Ok… giving this item four stars as an overall view. The good: it fits a Jeep Wrangler perfectly. With the appropriate legs, it canvases across the entire roof of the Jeep with the legs attaching to the gutters. The bad: just a bit too noisy for my liking, even with the appropriate wind faring (I don’t expect absolute silence since I have a one touch sky top). The noise is not a big deal on short trips, but it was definitely driving my wife and kids nuts on a 2+ hour drive (stick some headphones on the kids, problem fixed)
In the future, I might switch it up from these square rails and go with something a bit more aerodynamic…

2015 Dodge Ram Pickup
Installed this and 65" Vortex Areo crossbars on a 2015 RAM 5500 chassis cab/crew cab. It is listed to fit 1500 to 3500 RAM's and neither Rhino-Rack or etrailer would confirm it would fit the 5500. My research suggested there was not much, if any difference, between the 3500 and 5500 crew cab, so ordered it any way. Installation was relatively easy, fit seemed to be good and have made multiple 200-300 mile trips with a 75lb kayak. Good price, great customer service and fast delivery through etrailer.

2017 Dodge Ram Pickup
I bought these to be able to haul 4 kayaks on the roof of my 2017 Ram Mega cab while pulling our fifth wheel. We have use the Rhino Rack several times including a trip from Kentucky to Montana and back with no issues. I highly recommend the Rhino Rack for extra cargo capacity on top of your pickup. The instructions were good and installation was pretty straight forward. I plan to take the system off in the winter which will be easy to do.

Nissan Versa
This rack works perfectly on my Nissan Versa for carrying my two Perception Sound 9'6" kayaks. The Rhino-Racks look good to me. The kayaks can rest directly on the rubber pads on the rails, unlike the Yakama racks I had in the past that had bare pipe rails. Also, I expect I can buy parts to adapt this product to a different car without having to buy new towers. I am sorry there are not hooks or loops to attach bungees when carrying lumber. They are noisy in the wind, but less so when carrying the kayaks.

I received the roof rack kit sooner then expected. Everything arrived in good condition. The installation instructions where ok and the install went well. I wouldn’t say the install was easy, but it definitely wasn’t hard. Read the directions thoroughly, especially when you’re using the provided measuring pieces for underneath the racks. Also, take extreme care when tightening them to the vehicle. You’ll want to tighten each side evenly and it takes a bit of finesse to do so. A second set of eyes that can identify within 1/8-1/4 inch difference would be helpful for the party tightening. Other than that, product is well built and in NO WAY does it look cheap. etrailer, your tracking system is spot on. Kudos to your supply chain department. Cheers!

carry my old town pdl 120 kayak on my 2014 Ram 3500 Crew cab dually. Heavy kayak. I'm a full time rider and sometimes travel hundreds of miles before stopping. Never had an issue. Front rack had a lot of wind noise but I wrapped paracord around it...problem solved. Worth the money!

This rack is a great product and has worked great for the kayaks I hauled across the country over the last year. Only things I can complain about is the extra wind noise with them on, and the lack of strap anchors. Otherwise, has worked great for me.
