Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Jeep Cherokee, we'll be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Yakima Roof Rack System. This is going to consist of the Yakima Jet Stream Crossbars, part number: Y00425, and the Timberline Towers, part number: Y00147. Now these crossbars are also available in silver with part number: Y00428.The Yakima Roof Rack System is a great solution for carrying your vehicle accessories on your roof, whether those are bike racks, ski and snowboard carriers, kayak carriers or cargo baskets. The Aerodynamic shape of our bar, as well as the weatherstrip on the inside, are going to help to reduce wind, noise, and drag.If we remove our end cap on our crossbar, on the inside we can see our weatherstrip. This can easily be pushed down, and we can add in channel-mounted accessories. Unlike with other roof racks, we will have to remove that weatherstrip.
This one just pushes down, and you can place in those channel-mounted accessories and easily remove those accessories without having to replace your weatherstrip. On our tower, we do have the option to put in the Yakima Same-Key System Lock Core, that's going to help to prevent theft and tampering of your roof rack system as a whole. If we remove our cover, you can see our rubber strap on the inside here. It is protected in that rubber to prevent any scratches or abrasions from our roof rack system onto our raised rails. It is going to grip around those raised rails. When our bolts are tightened down completely, it's going to give us a nice, secure fit.The entire roof rack system has a 165-pound weight capacity, though you do want to double check your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure it can withstand that much weight.
Each piece of our roof rack system also has a limited lifetime warranty. It's quick and easy to install, we'll show you how to do that now.Now everything that you see on our table is what's included in our kit. The only thing we've provided ourselves is a flat tape measure. Here with our tower, we're going to have it so that the top is facing up. We're going to slip in the black plastic portion of our adapter. Take the metal top and put that just on top of our foot pack.
We'll flip our tower over and we're going to push it so that we can see that hole on the inside there. It's very hard to see. We'll take our included tool and we're going to tighten that spot down. We're going to tighten it down until everything is flush on the top here. Now we can take our tower and we're just going to slide it onto our crossbar. We'll take our end cap for our crossbar and place it in place. Now we're ready to load this up onto our vehicle.
We want our towers to sit just up against our raised rail and our strap to sit underneath our rails. Now we'll measure out crossbar overhang. There's no specific measurement for this, we just want it even on each side. Now we'll measure out our crossbar spread. This is going to be from the center of our front tower to the center of our back. We just want to make sure that this is even on each side. There's no specific measurement for it. What I would suggest is that you go by whatever accessory and the minimum distance between your two crossbars that you need for that accessory. Today we're just going to go for about 29 inches on each side.To start off, we're going to tighten down our bolt here at the top. This is going to prevent that adapter on the inside from moving back and forth.Next we can take our straps and we're going to attach them into our tower. Once we have that in place, we can take our included tool and tighten down our bolts. We're going to do this just enough so that our strap grips around our raised rail. We'll make sure to do the same thing on the other side.Once we hear the clicks we'll know that we have our strap tight enough. It's going to give us a nice, secure fit. Take our included end cap for our tower, snap that into lace. We're ready to load up our accessories and hit the road. That's going to be our completed look at the Yakima Roof Rack System on our 2016 Jeep Cherokee.

Knowledgeable sales rep.Help me through the process on purchasing my roof rack Recommended to anyone quality parts
Excellent solution for my 2023 Chevy Silverado. In the past, I have had rails installed on the roof of my pickup trucks, but I find the BaseLine towers to be a better solution, since they don't permanently change the truck. Plus, they are much more solid than SkyLine system on the rails.
Love my Yakima roof rack!! It exceeds my expectations.great product. Also thank etrailer for the tec support! great staff always there to help thanks again!!
For a 2015 Mazda 3, 4 door sedan.
I used the 50" jetstream bars with the skyline towers and the #22 Landing Pads.
Went together easy, great quality, very solid feeling! And, easy to remove and install when needed.
Follow the instructions, and you can't go wrong on the self installation
Fit our Subaru Forester perfectly. Install was a breeze.
Your notice of schemes was a lot better than the yakima site provided. They did not suggest the scheme you did.
But when the products arrived, the instructions were by yakima. Generally worked as instructed except the tower to tower transverse mounting dimensions needed to be tweaked for a perfect fit.
Really easy to install & work as specified. So happy with the customer support/service at etrailer.
Still look and work great after a year. Fantastic investment and they didn't reduce my fuel economy. They don't produce a lot of wind noise either.
The design of the connection seems a little sketchy to me. Hopefully I'm wrong and the design engineers have it figured out. etrailer's selection process, delivery ann installation help both online and on the phone was excellent
Great fit, holds tight to roof.
Ackage came 2 days early the install was somewhat easy (did it by myself)
Did not get to mount anything to it but seems really sturdy. One thing I can say is mark out your mounting points with provided stickers then put up and make adjustments to the roof rack.
I chose Yakima because I had one in the past and they were always reliable. Thule was my next choice but didn’t like the look of 53’ crossbars on my car. I really appreciated the easy to follow instruction that made installation a breeze. The kit came complete with everything I needed to install right out of the box. I purchased the 2 Hightower bike racks to go with the roof rack system and plan to safely secure both bikes for our trips. It was a bit heavier than I anticipated (combined with the bike carriers) which will hurt my MPG but having easy access to disassemble the bike carriers when not in use made it a no brained. Additionally, I love the look of the system on my car.
I waited several weeks for roof rack to arrive after ordering online. I am accustomed to Thule racks, but could not find any towers/bases to fit the 2019 Santa Fe. Once here, the Yakima rack mounted with ease and I look forward to hauling kayaks or basket on the roof.
Thank you etrailer.
Great bars and easy installation on my 2012 Prius C
The yakima jetstream crossbar looks beautiful. Quality is great. Took my vehicle for a test drive, and i didnt hear anything loose or broken from the bars. Very satisfied with the product and the instructions were great. It was my first time installing a roof rack too.
Solid build quality and easy installation on my '21 Mazda CX-5.
Lightweight and actually quite quiet with no attachments on them. With my bike racks there is a fair amount of noise but it doesn't come from just these. Mine is on a 2011 BMW 335.
The installation was super easy, and despite a long time stuck in shipping the delivery itself was extremely fast, and the package arrived in spotless condition. The manuals were very easy to follow, and the end result is absolutely amazing. I love that there's a rubber piece in the top rail that doesn't need to be cut, which makes it a very flush and smooth fit. I also love the modularity and the weight that it can handle, especially for the stuff i plan on carrying.
The installation was super easy, and despite a long time stuck in shipping the delivery itself was extremely fast, and the package arrived in spotless condition. The manuals were very easy to follow, and the end result is absolutely amazing. They provided a nice, flush finish and hold the racks down tight.
So far so good. Purchased these towers to use on a 2022 GMC Canyon with HD bars that I already had, primarily to carry my canoe. Yakima's fitting instructions worked perfectly and the whole system seems really solid.
Well packaged and on time
not installed yet but everything was delivered on time and in good condition
Super solid rack and the only one that fits the Jeep Cherokee without rails well and looks good too. Easy to install and worth the price
