Hi, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we have the Yakima Roof Rack System. We'll take a look at how it fits as well as how it installs on our 2022 Jeep Cherokee. If you need to carry around roof-mounted accessories, maybe you need more cargo space and you need a roof box or roof basket, if you wanna carry around some kayaks or long ladders, what you then need is a roof rack system. What we have here is a Yakima Roof Rack System with our TimberLine Towers for raised rails. So for your Jeep Cherokee, you have these rails that are raised, meaning you can fit your hand underneath.
And because of how the rails are designed, you do have to be careful with what type of roof rack you get. And here in this video, we'll talk about it, as well as why the Yakima roof rack might be a good fit for you. The black raised rails for the Jeep Cherokee are on the larger side, plus, they have this lined here. So for some roof racks that just have clamps that pinch on the side, they might be a little too small for these rails. That's why I always recommend for this situation getting a roof rack that has a strap that fits around and cinches down on the entire rail system, and that's what the TimberLine Towers do.
They have this rubber strap that also has metal on the inside, so you get that cinch and grip, but you also have that metal, so people can't just cut through the strap. Here we have the Yakima JetStream crossbars, and these are gonna be the aerodynamic bars that are 50 inches long. With the JetStream bars, you're gonna actually get pretty much any length longer, especially, than the 50 inch. So if you want more overhang, maybe you want to make it easier to reach from the ground or you wanna maximize having crossbars, you can get the longer sizes. This is the recommended length from Yakima, because if you have too much overhang, you're more likely to hit your head against the bars when getting into your car, you might not think it's as sleek.
It's really just a matter of what look are you going for and what you wanna carry around. So measurements that are also important are roof clearances, and this has a good amount of it, which can be good, because then, you have plenty of space underneath the crossbar. But some people also consider how high did it sit up up their car and if that's a look they want or not. So measuring here from the top of our glass roof to the bottom of the crossbar, I have it at about 4 1/2 inches, and that's plenty of space for most clamps and U-nuts or U-bolts and wing nuts. Now, another measurement is from the roof to the top of the bar, and I have it at about 5 1/4 inches.
That's where your cargo sits. So for example, maybe you're carrying around skis with extra tall bindings, you'll make sure there's enough clearance that it doesn't hit the roof. If there isn't, that's when you start looking at accessories that give you more height. With this case here, you have plenty of clearance, it's not something you would usually worry about. These are the JetStream bars, which means they're aerodynamic bars. Notice how they're shaped, this is to guide the wind back, and that way, you have less wind drag and wind noise. Up top, you also have this T-track or T-channel, and this is for T-track mounted accessories. So rather than clamps that go around the bar, you just clamp into that channel. And with this, you'll only need to push down and slide the accessory up top, and you don't have to remove this at all. The TimberLine Towers are the second component of this system other than the crossbars. And here, we have sort of a security setting. This is just a lock cover, but you can replace that with metal lock cores, but those are sold separately. Once you take this out, you then have access to your tower. There are three points that you do need to tighten down. I highly recommend checking out the full demo if you want an in-depth understanding of what those are, but the process itself for tightening or installing this is pretty simple. If you're ready to install this onto your roof, let's take a look at that. Installing the TimberLine Towers is really simple. So for your crossbars, go ahead take off the endcaps, get your towers set up. Now, if you are curious about how to get those towers set up, there's a plate that goes in the middle, this is accessed in the center with your tools. Check out the full demo for an in-depth explanation on how to get that together. But once you have that plate, you're then able to just slide your tower in through the crossbar. Notice how we have this strap facing out. And once you do that for both sides, you can then just put the end cap right back on, and then gently place this onto your roof. Make sure that's facing the right way, you want the tapered end facing the back, and then the taller end facing forward. Once you gently have this on your raised rails, you're then going to adjust the crossbar. So here, we're gonna just lightly adjust it, so you still need to make measurements for crossbar spread and overhang. But see here how if we pull this tower far out, we can then pull the strap against the rail, lift the strap up and into the groove. You may need to loosen your own straps. If you do need to do so, you can make those adjustments with this bolt here. Crossbar spread is the distance apart of the bars, and since you have raised rails, you can put this wherever you want. What I did was I have the rear crossbar lined up with the door seam, and then I put this 25 inches away. 25, 26, those are pretty good average numbers for crossbar spread, most accessories fit that. If you have a specific accessory, usually, if you have a roof box or roof basket, then you can adjust accordingly. Next measurement you need to take is overhang. That's measured from the tower to the end of the crossbar. If that number is the same on both sides, awesome. If it isn't, make those adjustments until it is the same. So this is gonna secure the tower to the crossbar and make sure it's flushed. Tighten down with the included tool, this fits right into that bolt. If you find it's not tightening down enough, you may need to push out the strap from behind. So this is a torque tool, and to prevent over-tightening, it will click once you get enough tension and tightened it down properly. The final step once everything is tightened down and you do have the bolt for the strap, you have the bolt up top, and then you have the bolt underneath, with those secure, you can then finally secure it with the endcaps. So these just pop into the towers. There are little holes on them you do have to line up. Also, these come with just the standard covers, these can be replaced and popped out with the metal lock cores. These are same key system lock cores, sold separately. If you have a bunch of other accessories and want them all keyed alike, go ahead and get a large bag of them at once, that way, you can switch out accessories as you upgrade to them. And with the endcaps in, that's it for your install. That right there was a look at a Yakima Roof Rack System with a 50 inch long JetStream crossbars and our TimberLine Towers for raised rails here on our 2022 Jeep Cherokee.

I have been a loyal customer of e-trailer for several years, having purchased multiple items in the past with satisfactory results. Unfortunately, this recent purchase has been a disappointing experience.
I ordered a cross-bar kit for my 2023 Honda Pilot, specifically this kit: which is supposed to be compatible with my vehicle.
Upon receiving my order, I noticed that the crossbar box indicated the need for the "HD Bar SL adapter" when used with the Timberline Towers. However, this essential part was not included in the order, rendering the crossbar kit unusable for my vehicle due to the missing parts.
After calling customer service on two separate occasions, they have not been able to acknowledge that the kit should have included the required parts and therefore have not resolved their error by shipping the required parts. I will be returning the entire order and will take my business elsewhere.
Really Easy to Install! Solid and Strong amount to Roof Rack.
These adapters were easy to install and made my system fit together nicely.
Great product, as are all Yakima products,in my opinion. These are on a Yakima system installed on my Diamond Back tonneau cover. Very pleased with them
We purchased the rack 5 weeks in advance of our up and coming trip. (Rack is amazing FYI). However, The website states free shipping over a certain amount. Weeks went by with notifications nothing was sent and the order kept being pushed back.
Once I called I was told those who chose to purchase shipping vs opting for the free shipping got their orders firsts; everyone else fell to the bottom. After waiting a month for “free shipping” I opted to have paid shipping and I received the rack within days.
While this company has many products I could use, I refuse to use them again because what is advertised is NOT what they ethically hold themselves accountable too.
I had a difficult time identifying whether these were the correct adapters for the rack towers that I was purchasing to fit my tracks but that has more to do with yakima doing everything a-la-cart instead of having kits that include everything you need if I hadn't already had the HD bars on my other rack and wanted to be able to transfer them to this rack I probably wouldn't have went to this expense because I think they are overpriced.AS far as etrailer is concerned I always receive great service and products and they are always well packaged and never damaged by poor delivery care and always fast delivery speed.
Your service is nothing short of excellent! Thank you
Yakima OverHaul HD is built tough, sturdy, light but heave duty, well designed, easy to install and remove by leaving the locking base on the track. The height can be adjusted easily to a desired height to fit just right. The "bonus" is a beer bottle opener on each rail :)
Customer service at etrailer is excellent! Always responsive, immediately reply to help with any questions. Tayler K. was my sales representative, she's been super!
While putting the roof racks together, one needs to pay close attention to the detailed instructions; but, so far, the equipment is working well with a good fit on my Toyota highlander—I’ve traveled some 1000 miles so far.
Great product and even better was the service with etrailer! These guys make it happen and delivery was super fast. Thanks for a fantastic experience, will be a return customer.

These are some heavy duty crossbars.
Owned several surfboard racks in 45 years and these are by far the best.
Great tie downs also.
Required for Yakima HD crossbars using timberland tower system.
Great company. Fast delivery.
Great product. Great service.
The roof rack works well. The only problem I have is noise and while I'm carrying a ladder there is none. I figured if I take the ladder off I'll split a piece of pvc pipe and mount that on the front of it. But they work well for what I needed for work. The service from etrailer was excellant. I dealt with Carol and she did a very good job in helping me.
I choose etrailer simply because they mailed to APO. I’m a AD SM, and a lot of companies don’t shop to APO. As soon as I ordered my product, I received an email as a courtesy from etrailer letting me know I had an individual that would be tracking my product every step of the way, reassuring a smooth process. Their site functionality was easy, their customer service was great. I wanted to know if they had bike racks that would fit my cross bars, I got a email right away with a suggestion and a link that would fit my needs. I’ll definitely order from etrailer if I ever need to again.
Worked great
The fit is good on the 22 Wilderness but there is definitely wind noise and I will add a diverter soon.
This part adapted like no other adapter
These Yakima HD SL adapters are necessary to connect HD crossbars with Skyline Towers. This style is somewhat difficult to locate but Etrailer had them in stock, no waiting.
SIMPLE & EASY!
Have worked quite well for what we need. Very happy.
