Hi, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we'll be taking a look at our Inno roof rack system with the Inno Through Feet, our 57-inch long crossbars, and our Custom Fit Kit for your 2020 Ford Edge. So you have your Ford Edge and you're ready for adventure, or you just wanna carry some extra luggage on top of your vehicle. What if you wanna carry a bike rack or a roof basket or a roof box, or even a kayak What you first need is a roof rack system. So this is the Inno roof rack system with a little bit more overhang and a little bit more height compared to some of your other roof racks. So we're gonna go through the different specs, the different measurements, just to see if this is the right fit for your vehicle, as well as whatever you want to carry with it.
Now, your Ford Edge also has a panoramic glass roof so a big question is, can I still have my crossbars and open the roof So as we open our roof, you can see how as it slides up, we still have plenty of clearance below our crossbars and above our roof. So the clearance with the roof up is gonna be about one and two inches. So if you do have items at clamp around your crossbars, you have about two inches of space for that. So this roof rack is pretty good with giving you roof clearance compared to some other crossbars or roof rack systems. So we'll take some measurements to see exactly how much.
Measuring with the glass roof closed from the top of the roof to the bottom of the crossbar, we hit about 3 1/2 inches of height. So if you have accessories that have clamps that go around the crossbars, that's how much clearance you have for those. Also, if you have cargo and say, ski and snowboards that have larger bindings, that's where a higher roof clearance like that will be handy. Your actual roof height is going to be about five inches tall, or five inches added to the top of your vehicle. Now remember, since you roof does curve, those, the roof clearance and the roof height, will be a little bit different depending on where you measure.
But what's really good to see is even with your shark's fin in the back, whatever you have on top will not interfere with it, but will stay above it. Now the downside to having a naked roof rack is that you don't really get adjustability when it comes to crossbar spread. So measuring from the center of our front crossbar to the center of our rear crossbar, we have about 28 inches of crossbar spread. So for your different accessories, they have fixed mounting clamps. They have fixed areas for where they mount to your crossbars.
That's where the crossbar spread will come in handy to know if it's gonna match your accessories and your crossbars. The crossbar is made of aluminum, but also has this really sleek-looking black powder-coat finish. So that aluminum construction keeps it lightweight but also gives it a really good weight capacity of 165 pounds. One thing to note with that whenever you talk about weight capacity, is you still have to remember your actual roof weight capacity. So add up your roof rack system plus the weight of your accessory, whether it's a box or a basket, plus the weight of your cargo. Total, that makes sure it does not exceed your roof weight capacity. My favorite thing about the new crossbars is how they usually have T-tracks. So the Inno crossbars also has this T-slot in there. And I do like how it's made where you can just push down that rubber strip and then mount your T-track accessory. Much better than, lets say, Rhino Rack, where you have to cut it to size, or Thule where it splits apart every now and then. This is super easy to use. If you have the original roof racks, those we're usually square or round, and they we're really noisy as you drive down the highway. This is the Inno Aero roof rack, or Aero bars, and it's a lot more aerodynamic. Notice how it is shaped. This is so that it can cut down on wind drag and wind noise as you drive down, especially without anything on top of it. Now these are the 57-inch long crossbars, so they give you a little bit more overhang compared to the shorter version. So measuring from the end of the tower to right before the end cap, you have about 2 1/4 inches of actual overhang, which is a little bit more than your 54-inch long crossbars. If you do have more accessories and you want a easier way to reach up onto your vehicle, that's where overhang like this comes in handy. What's holding your crossbar up are these through feet towers. So they have locking cores and you get two keys to access the whole system. So as you can see, this just pops off and allows you to mount and dismount your roof rack system. Now if you do have T-track accessories, you won't need to take these towers off, as you can just take off the nice, shiny end caps. Now let's talk about the fit kit. So that includes the pads that go underneath the towers and the hooks. I highly recommend checking out etrailer.com just to make sure you get the right fit for your specific vehicle. Because if you notice they are, they have these grooves and they conform to the grooves of your own vehicle. So you wanna make sure that you install them properly to take care of your vehicle. Now I do have an install process guide where I go through everything just to show you how to tighten everything down, so let's take a look at that. So the install process can be a little tricky just because this is a naked roof rack, and we have different fit kits with different numbers. But that's what this video is for. I already installed the rear crossbar so that we can install the front crossbar together. We have different hooks, different foot pads, and I'll just guide you through the process of getting your fit kit, your towers, and your crossbars assembled on your Ford Edge. So first, I'm gonna set up the tower with a proper fit kit. So for the front crossbar, we are using the foot pads that have numbers four, two, and five. And then we are gonna place it on the towers like this, with the groove portion facing away from the front. So we just pop that in. Next, we are going to set up our crossbar. So for our crossbar, we have this silver plate. This needs to go inside the tray on the crossbar. Once that's in place, you can bring it up from the bottom. You just slide this through, all the way to the center. Push in this button and continue sliding it until it stops. Then you get your tower. Notice how we have these notches, or these tabs in our tower, as well as this bolt. This is gonna fit into our silver plate, so just place it on top. On the backside of the tower, you have a lever. So you're gonna want to pull that lever so that you can slide the tower through. Now that our towers are attached, we can now put this on our roof. So make sure that the wide portion of your Aero crossbar is facing the front of your roof, and then let's just get it lined up. Since I did not put the hooks on, I can just very gently place this onto my roof and then put the hooks on. So then we have specific measurements on where our towers are going to be placed. For the front tower, we need it to be 8 3/4 inches from your door to the center of the crossbar, or the center of the tower. So just line that up, and now we can put our hook on. Don't forget that you have to tighten down your tower as well to your crossbar that's underneath, just in case you haven't already. But with everything aligned and with this where you want it to be, you just have your hook and your bolt already connected and just fit that into your tower and then hand tighten it down. With both sides clamped on, you then use your torque tool to continue tightening it down. So this is a torque tool, so it's going to click. Do it twice like a gas cap, and that's how you know you have enough tension. When you have all four of your towers tightened down, you can then finally put your end caps onto your crossbars. We'll just pop it in there. And then your doors for your towers. Those go in from the bottom and then flip up towards the top, then you lock it in order to secure it. And with everything locked down and in place, you are done with the install. So my personal thoughts about this roof rack system is if you are going to get the Inno Through Feet, I definitely recommend this configuration with the longer crossbars. You can also get the slightly shorter crossbars with 54-inch long bars. Those only give you about an inch of overhang though, so not as impressive as these. Now if you're looking for something that's a little bit more low profile, more streamlined, you may wanna check out the Inno Flush Feet system. It does sit a little closer to your vehicle though. Something worth considering if you have accessories that clamp around the bars. Another thing you might wanna check out is the Rhino Rack Roof Rack system, which actually is kinda easier to install, but then you get your pros and cons with those too. Definitely check out the different kits right here at etrailer just to see what's the right fit for you and your adventures. But for this one, it gives you great clearance, great overhang, and pretty good weight capacity..

Low-profile, aerodynamic crossbars create an aftermarket roof rack for your vehicle. Aluminum bars have T-slots that let you mount channel-mounted carriers and accessories. Flexible rubber strips in T-slots keep out dirt and won't need trimming.Very easy ordering process. Super friendly staff. Correct parts and the Inno rack turned out to be much higher quality than I anticipated. Overall, great experience!
Waste of money. Most annoying couple hours spent in a long time. Extremely disappointed. Does not fit well. Not exactly a cheap option, but a cheap option in terms of fit and engineering. The instructions online and in the kits do not agree. But there is no helping the design. Plus there are no universal set of instructions--they are all individual items for the fit kit, the bars, etc. But a reasonably inclined person can figure it out so no big deal, but the engineering design is garbage--requires precise measurement yet the design is such that exact measurement is impossible due to the design.
Additionally, the parts are low quality Either low density plastic or easily stripped bolts. Even when as precise as possible, I wouldn't trust it with my kayak. What a mistake. Do yourself a favor and get a Yakima trailer or similar. It isn't that much more money in the scheme of things and then it isn't tied to your car. Can add a hitch to most vehicles anyway.
Racks were perfect for my Acura MDX. They fit like a glove and I have used them several times.
Has worked great for transporting my fishing Kayak as well as small loads of lumber. It has worked fine for about a dozen and a half boards at a time or a couple of sheets of plywood. Just make sure that you have a good way to strap them down as well as maybe a rubber mat to help hold everything in place. The noise from it on the high way can be a lot but certainly not as bad as some that I have heard. I figure that anything on the outside of a vehicle like that will produce some noise.
worked as expected, I used them to carry my hobie outback kayak (about 100lbs) on my Honda Civic 2016 Coupe (2 doors). They worked with no problem so far (1 year) even under high speed like 70mph.
We recently purchased 2 kayaks & Thule roof racks from our local outdoor store.
After waiting 2 weeks for our roof racks and J bars to come in we found that the Thule racks did not fit our 2017 Lincoln MKX and they didn't make any racks that would. The vehicle does not have roof racks and has a moon roof.
After a couple of days searching the internet we discovered etrailer.com. We found the Inno roof racks, but still was not sure they would work. We spoke to a repesenative and he assured us that the racks we chose would fit and the Thule J bars we did return would also work. As you can see by the photos 2 days later we were happy Kayakers.
This kit does not fit well. All measurements have been double and triple checked down to the millimeter. The lock on the covers interfere with the hooks. You have to apply so much pressure to get it to close that it makes the rack come loose. Not very satisfied
I bought these as part of a kit with 60" Aero bars and the appropriate kit for my 14 Flex. I spent probably an hour and a half double checking my measurements and getting them torqued down properly. I spaced the bars on top of the car just a little wider than proscribed because I was planning on carrying 4x8 plywood, and it looked better to my eye. One thing to watch for: The instructions for the car-specific kit (in my case INK263) show the foot spacing measurements for a square bar, and the measuring point for these feet and Aero bars is different. That measurement point is indicated in the instructions for the feet, not the kit. Same numbers, just different reference point. Otherwise, they look good and are rock solid.
I did a lot of searching before selecting this rack for my Durango RT (no factory roof rails). It is easy to reinstall once the initial process is followed, I marked my doorjambs with a sharpie and it is easy to set up. Great product!
Installation was a little tricky but once the "feet" were attached to the roof and the bars properly spaced, everything wrapped up very well.
There is no noticeable wind noise with these installed.
Great racks. High quality parts. Fit perfectly. Went together easily.
One was extremely hard to get on compared to the others (not sure if it had some rough machining or something), but once all we’re on, all was good
Everything about this kit met my expectations.
- Perfect fit for my Ford Edge, as advertised.
- Lowest bar height that was still high enough for the Edge Vista roof to clear. The glass does clear when nothing is attached to the bars.
- Aero bar shape. I haven't done a lot of miles yet with only the bars and no other attachments.
I attached an Inno roof box (which still fits through my garage door!) and did a 2000 mile road trip at insterstate speeds. Except the box noise (expected), and a bit of a mileage hit, I had no issues. Secure fit the whole way.
Started assembly last summer and finally completed installation this spring. Directions took a lot of attention to detail but were adequate. Rack went on car securely and looks great. Have attached kayak rack and a roof pod and both worked flawlessly. Would definitely recommend.
etrailer was the only vendor who had the custom fit roof rack feet I needed for my vehicle. I was trying to put a roof rack onto a Dodge Durango SRT...not a typical vehicle for this accessory! I looked everywhere for a suitable roof rack and thought I was settling by ordering the Inno kit from etrailer. I could not have been more wrong! I am so happy with the purchase!
I have had countless bike racks over the years and this is by far the best system I have ever had. Fits like a glove on my F150. Easy to install, looks great and the bikes do not move when on the roof.
Tule and Yakima did not have a rack for my Nissan murano. So it was a blessing to find the immo rack. It seems like it can fit any car model. It's strong and secure. I feel my equipment will be safe with this rack.
Noticed box was taped up more then usual, found other manuals that was not specifically for this, and also found one of the feet already had been mounted as there was scratches on the plastic and metal parts
Installation went pretty smoothly. The trick is to fully understand each step before moving to the next. There are a lot of small parts which at first was a little intimidating, but soon I was able to "get with it". I love the finished product and think you helped me get a good deal. Thank you for that
Installed incredibly quickly on my 2014 Prius V with some of the best instructions I could have ever asked for. Used the video as well in tandem and got it on the car in about an hour and a half with my partner. It was a lovely experience, which is sometimes difficult for couples to say in situations like this!
We have put these crossbars to work on several road trips and we are very happy with them..
Seem to be well made for the price. I didn't realize that they came with locks so that was a pleasant surprise. Easy installation.
Overall really incredibke experience. I had no idea what type of rack/rails would fit my car. The website asked a couple simple questions and showed me exactly what was compatible. I had a few further questions and I called a customer service rep and she was really nice and helpful over the phone. Ordered my products that day, received an order confirmation email, a shipment email, and a tracking number. Arrived in just a few days. Really happy with my experience.
They were so helpful. Geoffrey got me the parts the next day and the roof rack works great. Easy assembly. Just needed a little muscle power to click the final pieces together. Everything else was an easy bolt.
There work great and were easy to install. e-trailer rocks and so does Justin.
Do you have a question about this Roof Rack?
