Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - 53" Long - Black - Aluminum - Qty 2:Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Hey everyone. Today in our 2019 Chevrolet Colorado, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install this Thule ring bar Evo roof rack system. Now it's consisting of a couple of different parts. We're going to have our 53 inch wing bar up top, and you see how it has a nice aerodynamic shape to it. That's going to help cut down on wind noise and drag. It is also available in silver.
Just look at etrailer.com for whatever color you wish to have. Now it's really cool what Thule did with these new wing bars is that when we flip open this cap, we have a rubber stripping up here, which is also going to help cut down on wind noise and drag. But unlike the load bar where you have to pull the stripping out, and have to cut it to length, whatever T track accessory you want to use, you just slide your accessory between these two strips to wherever you desire it to be on your roof rack. And then from there, there's no cutting necessary on your rubber strip. You just shut the cap and you're good to go.Now down here we're going to have our Evo clamp feet.
There's going to be four total that comes in your kit. These are what connects your crossbar to your roof. We'll pop off the end cap real quick, and we'll see kind of what's on the inside. We have the insert for our fit kit hook, we have the tightening bolts on the inside right there, which is going to help secure it to the roof. And then we'll put the end cap back on.
We see we do have these pop locks right here. You can replace those with Thule lock cores if you wish. That's going to just help you have a more secure roof rack, so no one can remove it without the keys. And then down below we're going to have our fit kit, which is designed specifically for our Colorado. Which includes this hook right here, and this thick rubber pad that's under our clamp feet.
You can see right there. The rubber coating on both of those are going to help protect your truck from any type of scratches or abrasions. Now what's different about how this attaches to your roof, instead of just going under the door, we're going to see that it comes all the way down and under our weatherstripping. So keep in mind, you will have to pull this down to get your hook in place. But it's still going to be able to do its job. It's not going to interfere with the weather stripping at all. Now let's go ahead and provide you guys with a few measurements. First, we're going to measure from the top of our roof to the bottom of our wing bar. That's going to be three and a quarter inches. So that's going to be more than enough space for any of your clamp on accessories to come around the crossbar without interfering with your roof. Or even if you have a sun roof, you'll still be able to operate that as well. And now from the top of our roof to the top of our crossbar, that's going to be four and three quarters inches. Now that's relevant because that's how much you're going to be adding onto the top of your roof.So any low clearance situations you just want to be wary that you have that added length on top. We're going to have 220 pounds of load capacity up top, which is more than your standard 165. But you want to double check with their Colorado's owner's manual and make sure that your roof can handle that weight. Now that we've gone over some of those features, let's show you how to get it installed. Now we've got everything we need right here in front of us. I'll show you how to finish assembling it. It's going to be a pretty easy process. First we'll take our crossbar. Go ahead and flip it over. You can see I have one of the legs assembled right here. I'll show you how to finish doing that on the other side. So first things first, we need take off this end cap, there's just a little button right here we're going to push down on to pull it out. We'll set that to the side. Now I want to grab our Evo feet. I'm going to take our fit kit pad. We're going to clamp it down on top right here on that little plate. You just want to push down until you can feel it clamp over and it's going to be tight. Just cover every perimeter area of it. And now from here, I'm going to push down on these two silver buttons right here. Now it's going to unlock this lock right here, which will allow us to slide it into the channel. You want to make sure that it's facing outside. We'll go ahead and slide that on. We're going to come up to the edge of this scale. We've already had it marked to the setting we need, and you can find this in your fit kit instructions. So we're just going to bump that up against it, just like that, and then leave it. Once you let go of those buttons, it's going to lock into place. Now we're going to grab our custom fit hook. And what's nice about these Evo feet is you just got to push down until it clicks, and then it's locked in. Now from here, we're just going to go ahead and get it up on our roof. Now I'm just go ahead and set it on our roof. You do you want to be careful not to damage your roof by letting it fall on top. So we're just going to stretch that over. Get that clamp over and set the pad down. Go on both sides and do this. And before we tighten down it all, we need to make sure we get our crossbar spread measurement. And you can find this in your instructions. We're going to measure from the front of our back crossbar, to the front of the front crossbar. Once you get it on one side, make sure you go to the other one and get the same measurement. Now from here, for our clamps to get properly in place, we're going to have to pull down on this weatherstripping just to get it out of the way. And the clamps actually are going to sit right under there. We'll just pull it down, get it in place like that. And then once you tighten it down, you can actually push this back up. Now, one thing you do want to make sure you do is you take your little bumper stop right here, and before you put the hook down, you need to set it on this second layer right here. You can tear the adhesive off and put it on your Colorado right under the clamp. But for demonstration purposes, we're going to skip this step. Now that we have everything in place, we'll go ahead and start tightening down. We can just take our included tightening tool, and there's a little bolt on the inside of that slot, and go ahead and insert it in there. And then we're just going to tighten it down until the hook is snug on our roof. But from there we're going to go to the other side and do the same thing. And this is going to help prevent the roof rack from pulling too much on itself on one side. Now once you've got both sides pretty snug, like I said, rotate from each side, making a couple of turns each. And when you hear that click, and I'll do it again for you, that's going to let you know that your roof rack is tightened down to the torque specified by Thule. So you can go ahead and stop tightening down. Just kind of snug your weatherstripping back up in there. It's not too vital, but just however you like it. And then just grab your end caps and throw those on. And then you're ready to hit the road. And that'll do it for our look at a Thule ring bar Evo roof rack system on our 2019 Chevrolet Colorado.

Premium, aerodynamic crossbars attach to Thule feet to create a quiet, stylish roof rack for your vehicle. Dual rubber strips in T-slots let you easily mount accessories - no trimming required. Simple to center and install with integrated scales. So far its the best roof rack you can get today! Had no issues when driving through rugged and bumpy terrains all day.
I've had the roof rack for a year now and we only use it sporadically in the winter to put the ski box ontop of the car but it works great. Very easy to install and remove and very sturdy. Previously I had the kind that bolted into the roof of my SUV and had a terrible experience with that (we lost the rack and kayaks on the freeway and it tore holes in my roof). The clamp style is the only kind we'll get from now on because they are much sturdier and no risk of losing them. Definitely recommend them.
While the instructions were a bit difficult to follow the install videos from etrailer are a blessing to figure out what to expect even if not exact to the letter. Overall product is excellent, use it to haul kayaks and a 18 ft aluminum canoe to and from locations. Would recommend
.
The bars are strong and fairly quiet, especially considering that I mount them on the main cab of my pickup truck and not on top of the canopy. My biggest concern is that the rubber strip that runs the length of the bar to reduce wind noise was badly damaged when I slid my canoe up on to the bars. Given the weight of the canoe, I'm accustomed to getting one end on a bar and sliding it back into position. Given the sensitivity of the rubber, is started pulling away from the bar and shredding when sliding the gunwales over the top of the bar. I'll try to be more careful, but a roof rack needs to be more utilitarian in my humble opinion.
I just got my packages and had it installed within the hour very satisfied
Absolutely great product
No problems installing. The rack is doing fine.
Cross bars have been working very well. No issues with them
Product was right fit for my vehicle and installed perfectly. Etrailer was knowledgeable and got the goods to me quickly. Enjoyed working with them and will again.
I've owned this roof rack for a year now, and it has served my purposes (carrying my kayak around on my truck) quite well. It was fairly easy to assemble, largely because the entire instruction guide was in pictures.
I have had to retighten the rack a couple of times since putting it on the roof, so I tie the kayak down to the front and back of the truck as well as to the roof rack. I suspect the ocean kayak puts a bit of lift on the roof rack resulting in the loosening.
Arrived on time. The product was well packaged. These crossbars are just what I was looking for and look great on my Renegade.
Easy to install, fit and finish are top notch.
Korren @ e-trailer found these longer bars for me and I'm enormously grateful for her doing so!!
53” Thule bars fit our 2021 RAV4 Hybrid! Most people appear to be using 47” bars for the 2021 RAV4 with flush roof rails, but that’s smaller than I wanted. I sometimes carry a sheet of plywood, or a kayak plus a cargo box, and wanted a wider rack for that. I had heard that upsizing to the 53” bar was potentially not possible because the mounting slots on the bottom of the bar may not accommodate the rail locations relative to the bar length. ETrailer helped me out with some dimensions, so I bought the 53” bar knowing it would be close. There is only about a quarter inch of play on either side on the rear bar, but it fit (the front bar had more play, since the towers are a bit further apart at the front).
I’m SO happy with the result! Now I can carry what I want on the rack, and have room to spare! It looks pretty good too!
Worked perfectly on my 2020 GMC Sierra. Looks and works great.
I've always trusted Thule bars. I have an old Xsporter on my truck that works really well and it has held up over time. I needed to get a Thule rack for my Jeep Grand Cherokee and found that etrailer had all the parts I needed specified for my model. That was one of my favorite things about the site. No need to search around for the different parts to attached onto the factory rails. Once I received the rack and components, it was really easy to install. I pretty much watched the etrailer videos before hand.
I have the older Hullavator 897XT to haul my kayak in. With the WingBar Evo, I found I needed to get a slightly longer bolt (6-1.00 x 30), which I got from the local Ace hardware store, to attached the Hullavator support bracket to the WingBar. Once I got those bolts set up, I was on the water with the kayak the next day.
Talked to the customer service a few times and they are great friendly people. And I can understand what they are saying.
I have almost always had roof rails on my vehicles. My F150 had no rails and I was nervous about clamp style rack holders given what I tend to carry on top. These have been great and I am positive I have overloaded them numerous times.
Great product, but even better customer service from etrailer.com. Kaylyn went to a lot of effort to help me get what we needed in a very difficult time for availability & logistics
Thule is an excellent product and the fit on my 2017 Chevrolet Colorado is perfect. The good people at etrailer were super helpful in getting the correct fit parts to me as quickly as possible, especially during a tough year for all. I’ve found my Thule racks to be the perfect tool to take our kayaks on our adventures!
I’ve been searching for a set of crossbars for my 2021 Crosstrek. After looking at several different companys,, I decided to go with etrailer.com and get the Thule Wingbar Evo Crossbars and Evo Raised feet. Ordering was quick and shipping was even faster! Installed them in about an hour with no issues. I love the way they look, and the construction is solid. Shout out to the staff for doing a great job and for the great communication from placing the order, confirmation, updates and shipping the order. You will not be disappointed!
Great quality products! Easy installation with properly guided instructions. One of the best tracking information, from ordering to delivery. Would strongly recommend etrailer to anyone looking for roof or hitch bike racks.
The package was shipped in its OEM box with no additional protection. As such the Thule Aero wing cross bars were both dented on one side. Not sure if I received a return or if the product was dented in shipping as there was a significant amount of packing tape on the dented side. Either way, the end caps wouldn’t fit into the dented cross bars until I cut away plastic from the end caps. For $XXX+ dollars you think that would buy more shipping protection. Unbelievable, really.
They installed easily and look good on my 2017 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab. Purchased so we could carry our 2 kayaks while pulling the camper. Very functional! Very happy with this purchase.
Seamless ordering and delivery. Video instructions very helpful
Overall solid product. The little rubber strips that fit into the top bar are relatively fragile, I installed them, pulled one out to trim about 1/8 inches of excess length and the strip deformed such that it never went back in correctly. Fortunately etrailer had replacement strips.
