Hello, Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Front Runner kayak carriers with the tie downs. Now, these two carriers are designed for kayaks. They are what's called a J style. They do fold down very, very easily. But first I wanna tell you that they come with both of your carriers, two straps, your mounting brackets and mounting hardware, and of course your good old instructions.
Everybody loves those, right The instructions will help you secure this safely and securely to your roof rack, so please read them. It's a very simple install. As far as usability, I really, really do love these J style carriers. You simply pull down on this locking lever, both sides, and you can very, very easily pivot this guy all the way back and forth. And as you can kind of see in here, it's got locking grooves and those help a lot with securing it once you lock it down.
The padded foam on both bars is really gonna protect your carrier. It's got a nice durable, heavy duty rubber there. They are aluminum. They are black powder coated, and the the plastic is an ABS plastic, which is very resistant to corrosion. And like I said, locking 'em back in the upright position or imposition is as simple as lining up the teeth and simply pushing that back up there.
Very, very simple to use. They are rated to carry up to 99.2 pounds. They will hold one kayak, and they are, again, designed and made for the Front Runner platform racks and the Front Runner cross bars. They come with the one year warranty, and as I said, they take up minimal space. They do fold down conveniently for storing.
