Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.
This tie-down is equipped with The Multiplier ratchet, which lets you tighten the strap with less effort. Unlike a standard ratchet, The Multiplier has an innovative 2-to-1 gear drive that works twice as hard, applying double the tension with the same amount of force that you would use to operate other ratchets. This means that you can tighten down the strap in half the time and with half the effort it would take to tighten it with another ratchet.
The Multiplier is also easier on your muscles. When operating a standard ratchet, you must apply force when pulling the handle up and when pushing it down. With The Multiplier, however, you only need to apply force when you push down on the handle. And the ergonomic, molded plastic handle offers a comfortable grip.
When it's time to unload, pull up on the inner release lever to disengage The Multiplier ratchet. You will hear a pop when The Multiplier disengages. Next, loosen the strap by turning the knob on the side of the ratchet. Turning the knob allows you to put some slack in the strap in an easy, controlled manner - eliminating the need for potentially dangerous tugging and pulling.
This tie-down strap has been tested and rated at a safe working load limit (WLL) of 3,300 lbs and a maximum load limit (break strength) of 10,000 lbs. A sewn-in tag indicates the strap's size and rating. The WLL rating is also clearly printed on the strap.

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number EM58511. This is the Multiplier Ratchet Tie-Down Strap with double j-hooks from Erickson Cargo Tie-downs. The heavy-duty cargo tie-down strap is going to let you secure your cargo in your truck bed or trailer. This unit's going to be ideal for commercial and non-commercial flatbed and OTR applications. The labor-saving ratchet is going to make it really easy to tighten down the strap. You can see here it's going to have a gear right here and a larger gear back here. It's going to feature a two-to-one gear drive that's going to apply double the tension while using the same amount of force you would normally use to operate a standard ratchet system. Tension is going to be applied with each downward push. Very easy system to operate and little effort is required to pull the handle back up. It's going to feature the release lever that's going to disengage the ratchet when you're ready to unload.
When you have your cargo or the strap fully tightened down, push that release lever, push it down. It's got a little hold down here so that way the handle stays in a locked position. One of the things that makes the Multiplier very unique or a little bit different than other ratchet straps is it has this unique knob here on the side of the ratchet. This is designed to let you loosen the strap in a controlled manner. That way, when you disengage the release lever you don't have to worry about the straps coming disengaged to a point to where they snap off and could potentially hurt somebody. That's a great system to have.
Again, that knob on the side of the ratchet is going to let you loosen the strap in a nice, controlled manner. The handle right here is an ergonomic, molded plastic handle. It's going to allow you to get a nice, secured grip. Its going to feature double j-hooks. These are going to be very strong and very durable. All the hardware on here is a yellow-plated construction so it's going to stand up really well against rust and corrosion. The webbing on the strap is made from a durable polyester webbing.
It's going to offer a safe working load limit of 3,300 pounds with a maximum break strength of 10,000 pounds. This unit meets WSTDA recommendations. The strap itself is going to measure 2" wide and you're going to have 30' of total strap to work with, so 2" wide by 30' long. With this part number you're going to get one ratchet strap. It's going to come to you just like I have it shown right now so you will need to take the end of the strap that's wound up here in the middle and thread it through the ratchet mechanism, just like a normal ratchet strap. Really simple system to use. That lock feature's nice as well as that knob on the side of the ratchet. Please keep in mind that tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit and for this strap that's going to be 3,300 pounds. Ratchets work great. They make binding loads down very easy.
I've used this a few times to tie-down my car to the U-Haul auto transport when the trailer tie-downs were too short/damaged. These are nice in that you can make a pretty short tie-down with the integrated hook on the ratchet. The quality is great and the action is good. With the geared down ratchet its easy to get the strap tight.
Good heavy built product, just what you want and would expect for a towing/tie-down job. I had ordered the same ratchet strap a couple of weeks ago to see if it would actually fit my application need. I needed two so I ordered the 2nd one here to complete my need.
