Derale A11 Dual Powerpack

Note: This assembly is intended for primary cooling and should provide enough airflow to replace your vehicle's factory fan, but you will still need to determine the CFM requirements for your engine before making your purchase. Engines that have been modified or vehicles used for towing may require additional CFM. There is no limit to the number of fans you can install, as long as they fit appropriately and are mounted on the same side of your radiator so that they do not cancel each other out.

You can install the Dual Powerpack as a horsepower-boosting replacement for your belt-driven radiator cooling fan, or you can use it to upgrade or expand to your current electric fan system. The dual fan cools your engine by pulling 3,750 cubic feet per minute (CFM) of air through your radiator at 0 static pressure. High-output, 225-watt motors and skewed fan blades do the job efficiently and quietly. The Powerpack keeps engine loads to a minimum by drawing power (37.4 amps) from the alternator - not the engine itself. The fans are neatly packaged in a slim, customizable aluminum shroud that offers multiple mounting locations and won't hog lots of space in your engine compartment.

Power Increase Compared with Belt-Driven Fans

Belt-driven radiator fans draw power from your vehicle's engine, which causes a mechanical load that robs the engine of valuable horsepower and torque. The Powerpack, on the other hand, gets its power from your vehicle's alternator, via your vehicle's 12-volt electrical system. The Powerpack's 37.4-amp draw is far less taxing to your engine than a belt-driven fan's mechanical load. So replacing your belt-driven fan with an electric fan system can increase available horsepower and torque - and even improve fuel economy.

Increased Cooling Efficiency

The Dual Powerpack pulls mass quantities of air through your radiator's fins using twin fans, each powered by a 225-watt motor. The patented, skewed fan blades are designed to move air with as little noise as possible. Each fan grill is actually a stator flow director that helps produce maximum velocity by aiming the outflow.

Temperature Control Options

You can control the Powerpack with an on/off switch or a thermostat. An on/off switch, such as the Derale lighted on/off switch for electric fans (D16740), lets you control the fan manually.

A thermostatic control, on the other hand, turns the fan on when the coolant temperature climbs past a certain level and turns it off when the temperature falls back to a certain point. The Powerpack works with Derale single-stage thermostat switches (sold separately) with preset temperatures or adjustable temperatures.

Rustproof Aluminum Shroud

The Powerpack's rustproof aluminum shroud can be painted, polished, anodized, or left with its natural finish for a custom look. The shroud also serves as a wind tunnel so that air exits the fan quickly. Built-in air pressure relief vents help keep the static pressure load in check.

Video Transcript for Review of Derale Radiator Fans - Electric Fans - D16830

Today we're going to take a look at the Derale High Output Dual 11 inch electric radiator fans with the aluminum shroud. Now this is a high output dual radiator polar fan that'll help maintain optimal engine operating temperature and when I say polar fan that it's designed to install on the engine side of the radiator and pull the air through the radiator with the help of the sealed shroud when it's installed. This will move your air efficiently and quietly using the skewed blades on each fan and it's designed to efficiently move 3750 cubic feet per minute. That's for both fans of air zero static pressure. It does restore horsepower and torque used by belt-driven fans and it'll draw the power from the alternator, not the engine with minimal indirect mechanical load. It's powered right here by dual 12 volt, 225 watt motors, they draw 18.7 amps each and they can be operated using on and off switch or a thermostatic fan control. Does resist moisture and dirt with the IP 68 rate at waterproof and dustproof motors.

Helps increase air flow velocity using this vintage shroud design. The rust proof aluminum shroud will act as a wind tunnel when it's installed and the built in shroud vents right here that have the flaps on it, this will help control the air flow and relieve any excess pressure. Now the shroud itself can be painted, polished or anodized. It is designed for top R side mounting. Now this part will include everything here on the table, the fan shroud assembly, the angle brackets that'll be used to install it, the rubber fan shroud seal that you'll install on this when you put it up against your radiator, the installation hardware and installation instructions. Now these parts are made in the USA. Few specs on this, I'm going to give some overall dimensions.

So the overall width is 22 and a half inches. Overall height, 19 inches tall. And the depth on this, let me just turn it this way so you can see. We're going to measure from where the fan sticks out to the back here. So you're going to be looking at right at about four and a half inches deep.

Now the fan diameter, you can see on each one is going to be right at 11 inches. The mounting dimensions and those, what I'm going to give you, is if you look at the top here, you'll see two slotted holes right up here. That's for your mounting brackets to attach to. So you're going to have a range from the smallest mounting width to the largest mounting width. So if we go smallest first, is going to be 14 and a quarter inches. Largest would be 20 and a quarter inches for the width wise, and they do the same on the side.

So the smaller amount would be from here to here. It's going to be 11 and a half inches and largest 17 and a half inches. And as we mentioned, the maximum cubic feet per minute per fan is 1875 cubic feet per minute. So when you use both of them, it's 3750 cubic feet for both of them. And the power draw is 18.7 amps per fan.But that should do it for the review on the Derale High Output Dual 11 inch electric radiator fans with the aluminum shroud.

  • Electric Fan Setup Recommendation for 1996 Dodge Ram with 5.9 Liter Cummins
For a fan setup that would work well for your 22-1/2 inch wide setup the Derale 22-1/2" Dual, High-Output Electric Radiator Fan w/ Aluminum Shroud # D16830 would be a fantastic option assuming it would fit for a vehicle like your 1996 Dodge Ram with 5.9 liter Cummins that would need some serious cooling power. This setup has a shroud and dual fan setup that can move up to 3,750 CFM which would do a great job cooling the radiator. The fan diameters are 11 inches. Overall dimensions of the...

  • Dual Electric Radiator Cooling Fan Setup for a 1971 Dodge Demon
The fan shroud on the Derale High-Output, Dual Radiator Fan-and-Shroud Assembly part # D16812 is about 1-1/4" thick but the space between the fans is only about 2". Therefore, I would not recommend going this route. Unfortunately, due to the 2-3/8" of clearance from the radiator to the outer knob on the water pump, your options for a puller electric fan setup is almost non existent. Therefore I have two options for you. The first option you have would be to replace the water pump pulley...
