TorkLift's GlowStep Stow N' Go steps offer stability and adjustability. The built-in landing gear legs let you fine-tune the height of the steps. And they can be adjusted independently of one another to stabilize the steps on uneven terrain, eliminating any wobble.

These GlowStep Stow N' Go steps have a bolt-on mounting base that installs on the outside of your camper. The base provides a strong and stable connection to your camper, and it attaches permanently using the included mounting hardware. When you're ready to roll, just collapse the steps, fold them up, and snap them into the base of the bracket. The stabilizing bracket not only holds the steps in place on the outside of your camper, but it also prevents unwanted movement and rattle. For ultimate security, add on a TorkLift pin lock (TLA7509 - sold separately) to lock the steps to the bracket.

Will Torklift GlowStep Stow N' Go Scissor Steps Work for You?

Scissor steps are typically installed on truck campers. The Stow N' Go scissor steps from Torklift are easy to install and lock into the mounting bracket while on the go. To ensure you choose the correct size for your application, there are a few measurements you will need to take.

StowNGo Mounting

The Stow N' Go scissor steps have a single mounting bracket that attaches to either the camper wall or the truck bumper beneath the doorway. To decide which size you'll need, locate the space available for the mounting bracket on your application and measure the width and height. You will need an area of at least 23" wide and 3-1/2" tall.

Once you have an approximation of where the mounting bracket will go, the spot you chose will be used as the "mounting point" to determine how many steps you will need.

How Many Steps Do You Need?

StowNGo Entry Height

To decide on how many steps you'll need, measure from the mounting point to the ground. This is called the entry height. The entry height should roughly match the height of the steps when they're fully extended, and it will tell you how many steps you need.

The chart below displays entry height measurements in the first column. The step part numbers with the 21-1/2" mounting bracket width are in the second column.

This page's step assembly is in bold text.

38-1/2" - 50"TLA7845, TLA7835
46-1/2" - 58"TLA7836, TLA7846

How Do You Install the Steps?

To install the steps:

  1. Find the mounting spot for the bracket on your vehicle
  2. Unfold the steps and attach to the mounting bracket
  3. Place the step assembly against the camper or bumper

-Make sure the assembly is centered beneath the doorway

  4. Mark the mounting holes on the camper and drill
  5. Remove the steps from the bracket and set aside
  6. Attach the mounting bracket to the camper

-Secure in place with included lag screws

  7. Attach the stairs to the mounting bracket and extend

GlowStep Accessories

Torklift Accessories

Add any of these accessories to your Stow N' Go steps for stability, eliminating gaps, and keeps your steps and RV interior clean. The GlowGuide handrail (TLA7621 - sold separately) attaches to the outside of your RV and a bracket on the bottom of the steps. This helps to steady the assembly and adds 25 lbs to the weight capacity of the stairs. The SafeStep vinyl barrier (TLA7602 - sold separately) easily fastens with Velcro strips in between any 2 steps. This prevents your or your pets from accidentally slipping between steps. The DirtDestroyer boot brush (Tla7603 - sold separately) affixes to the bottom of the steps so you can scrape your shoes before climbing into your RV.

Video Transcript for FAQ Trailer Step Measuring

Hey guys, this is Jake here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna go over some details and the measurements that you're gonna need to take if you're wanting to replace your fifth wheel or your travel trailer steps. If you're looking to replace your motor home or your RV steps, we're gonna have a separate video made just for that. Now, a couple of reasons why you might want to replace your steps. One of the biggest reasons is because people don't like these pull out steps because they're uncomfortable and makes for a not pleasant experience on the inside of the camper if they're folded out because they hover above the ground. When somebody steps on 'em, it rocks the whole camper.

So that might be a reason why you wanna upgrade from the pullout style steps to the fold out style which will fold up into the door of your camper. The nice part about the fold out is that they're going to be rested on the ground, so all the weight from the person walking into the camper is gonna be pushing on the ground and not pulling on the side of the camper. With that being said, a lot of people like this style because it's not gonna take up space on the inside of your door. So regardless of which kind you would like to go with, there's gonna be different measurements for each. There's gonna be a measurement for the pullout style if you wanna replace just the steps you have outside already.

And then there's gonna be different measurements for the fold up style, to be able to measure, you know, you're gonna have to measure from the ground to the inside and then side to side in the door. So, it's gonna be different because they're gonna be located in a different spot. Now, here we have a different set of pull down camper steps. The reason why I switched from my camper to these is because my camper, the bracket's actually welded in. If that's the case, you're just gonna have to cut it out.

But the reason we're showing you here is because these are bolted on and I'll be able to give you the proper measurements to replace 'em. So, first measurement you need to take is from this bracket, the bracket that's actually attached to your camper, not the step bracket, from the inside to the inside of these two brackets, which for us here is gonna be 27.5. And then what you need to do is you need to measure the depth of this bracket. So from this outer edge here to the trailer frame. Good for that.

We get about 13 and 3/8. And then the last measurement is from the ground. Now you wanna make sure you're on level ground and your camper is level from the ground to this bolt right here on the outside. So that. we're getting about 26 and 1/4. Now, if you're looking to upgrade to a set of fold-down steps that actually store inside of your camper, the two measurements that you need to take is from inside flange to inside flange, not the inside of the actual door frame, because it's gonna need to fit in between these flanges. So for us measure right up against there and we get about 24.5. You can see there. The other measurement we need to take is from the ground, again, being on level ground from the ground to the top inside of the threshold itself. So for us, it's going to be about 35. And the last thing that you need to do is you need to match up the measurements that you've taken, whether you're replacing your steps that came on your camper or you're replacing them and upgrading to the fold up type. You just need to match up those measurements to the measurements on our product page for the steps that you're looking for. Well, guys, hopefully this information was helpful in helping you to find the right information and the right measurements you need to replace your camper steps. If you have any questions, please leave 'em in comments below and we'll see you next time..

I think they're GREAT!.......VERY HIGH QUALITY!....you won't be sorry you bought these.

I have a Lance truck camper in the bed of a Ford superduty 4x4 truck. The door opening to the camper is about 40" above the ground when in the truck. The two step setup that was factory installed on the camper was simply too high above the ground to use. So I installed the Torklift 5 step scissor step system. It is very easy to use, very sturdy, and easily adapts to different ground heights if the camper is parked on a slope. I fabricated a steel bracket that mounts up under the camper to the factory installed mounting studs, then bolted the scissor steps to the new bracket.

I installed my tow N Go steps today. Instillation was easy and I think they will work well. The reason I did not give an excellent rating is because the bolt fisher TorkLift provides is two feet short of what is needed. The door on my truck camper is a touch right of center at the back. The door on the bumper is o the left so a five foot bolt fisher is needed. For the price of this unit I would think TorkLift could provide a longer fisher. I ended up soldering some single strand wire musky leader material to the provided bolt fisher to extend it. Had photos but would not upload.

Trevor W. and etrailer did a great job. Quick shipping. Product as described. Easy install.

Excellent “steps” for a high clearance Truck Camper!

by:

These scissor steps make a huge difference for us to safely and easily enter our camper whether it is on the truck or not. I did modify one thing. The gap between the top scissor step and the truck landing was too wide and I was concerned we might step through the opening. I rectified this by attaching one of the original steps to the landing which gave an extra step and took up the space between the top scissor step and the landing. Attached pictures show this modification. The steps still fold nicely to the Arctic Fox Landing while traveling and attacing the steps to the side gave easy reach to the ladder for stability until I reach the handle on the camper itself.

by:

Mounted this on camper. Because bummer was weak, my husband build a box, attached that ontop of camper bumper, then attached this. Great work around as our camper was so high, without this step I could not teach door handle. Love it!

I have a 2022 Lance Truck camper model 825 and they came with the fold down 2 steps which did not work since my 2016 Ford F250 is lifted I added 19inch rims.
So I ordered the Torklift 5 steps to compensate for the Hight of the truck and this model worked out just right. I had to fabricate 2 L shape brackets by using 2 old bed frames made of steel and used the bolt mounts from the old steps. as you can see in the pictures. As of 2023 Lance Campers now have contracted with Torklift to add these Torklift steps to all their truck campers. This is a fine product it does what it is supposed to do. Just have to be creative when you have something that's not an easy fix.

by:

I’ve always been very impressed with torklift products. From their camper tie downs to their super hitch and super truss. Now I just installed their glowsteps on my 2021 Arctic Fox 990 slide in camper. I attached it to the fox landing. The glow step mount was a few inches wider than the landing but I just let it hang out the extra width and drilled and bolted it to the landing with the 6 provided stainless steel bolts. Outstanding quality and all the tork lift products I purchased through etrailer and received all in a very timely manner. I would highly recommend both torklift and etrailer to anyone.

by:

Great way to get into my truck camper. Keep them lubed for easy, one-handed extend & contract.

by:

These steps are a game changer! Very sturdy and installation was fairly easy. Fellow truck campers, ditch the bounce of factory steps or the use of a step ladder and get these!

by:

The steps are great. However, the installation instructions were for a different model and the hardware bag was missing the hardware needed for my model requiring me to purchase from a local retailer. Had to call Torklift tech support to clarify installation since the instructions were not for my model. Overall poor attention to detail from Torklift manufacturing.

by:

this is very well made. we love it. The only problem we had was that the mounting lag screws and any instructions for installation were not included in the package. Also we had to get angle iron to attach to our camper because we only had about an inch or two under our door to attach it to. But the quality
is very good and they are very sturdy.

by:

I really like these steps. They replaced two folding steps on my truck camper that were always just too high off the ground. They work great and seem to be good quality.

by:

Was very easy to order. Received it fast.
It
was simple to install and works as we wanted it to.
Will continue to order from E Trailer as they are very
trusted and helpful every step of the way

by:

This Torklift stairway is very well engineered and constructed. Installation instructions are very clear an concise. The only problem that I encountered was that the bolt fishing device was too short to install the center and right side bolts on a Lance camper bumper, which is open on only one end. I solved this problem by using an electrical wire crimper to add apiece of piano to the fishing device. Seethe attached photos. Neither etrailer nor Torklift tech support had a solution for me. So , here it is .

by:

Install took about 30 minutes on the back bumper of my Lance camper well built nice looking product just wish the Detachment pins were a little larger but I think they will be just fine have not used them yet the Chaser wire to slide through the bumper worked very well

by:

Fit my custom camper perfect, easy installation I will prolly remove the steps when traveling but the setup will make it easy to put the back up and use.

by:

Great steps and easy to use.
The glow
in the dark part does not work as good as they make it out to be, but still highly recommend these step.

by:

An amazing addition to my Lance 1140 !!
Works
swiftly and safely to improve safe entry and exit!
Thank You.

by:

Very well made with "extra" hardware to cover the many different installation possibilities. These take a lot of stress out of using our camper.
If getting into your camper is a challenge, I highly recommend these.

by:

Just installed these on my new Four Wheel camper. Had to add a 2 1/2" x3" block to accommodate the lower bolts. The steps feel very sturdy and look like they may have decent traction in icy conditions. I like that they can be collapsed and removed to store inside for driving on bumpy rough roads. I haven't been camping with these yet but i'm sure they will be safer and more stable than the foldable 2 step flimsy ladder we have been using.

by:

I installed the steps on a popup truck camper and after a 7500 mile trip to Alaska and back they worked very well. I had to add a piece of angle under the camper to make the installation more solid. See pics

by:

I’ve never been disappointed with a Tork Lift product, I have their Camper tie down kit AND the Stable Loads on this truck, so putting the Glow Steps on was a no brainer. etrailer had the best price, free shipping and the order process was simple. Arrived a day earlier than I expected!
Easy install, solid set of steps, completely changed the access dynamic of our truck camper. I’d buy again.
My only request would be that Tork Lift would make the bolt holder/fisher tool about 2’ longer as I installed on a bumper that only opened on one end.

by:

This worked out even better than I had hoped. We have a backyard storm shelter. They come with a steep set of stairs. Our 100 pound dog couldn't use the ladder and it is impossible to carry an unwilling dog into the shelter. Voila - these stairs are the perfect solution. Leave them steep for us then open them out for the dogs. Even the big one just walks down. Even better for us while we are in the shelter we can close the steps and have more floor space.
