Locking Camper Door Latch - Silver

Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the JR Products locking camper door latch. Now this is going to be a replacement for your existing door latch that maybe got worn out or damaged somewhere along the way. So it's going to be pretty universal. It's made out of a die cast steel with this silver powder coat over the top.

So it's going to look nice. It is also available in white and in black if you prefer. So you can find both of those other options here at etrailer.com if that matches better with your finish. So I kind of have this mocked up how it will look once it's installed. So this portion is going to be outside.

This portion will be the inside. We'll also have our striker catch. So that little piece goes underneath or it goes against that so it holds everything in place.We'll get the screws to attach our latch mechanism, the spring, the center pin, and also the lock core so that everything gets attached up properly and the way this works is whenever we push on this button on the outside, that presses in on our latch there, opens up the door, lets us get in and out. Same thing on the inside, press down on that little thumb tab and we can open up the door. If you want to lock it from the inside, you just push this little piece over, this little sliding tab.

Actually I have this a little bit too tight. So should be able to push all the way over and now everything is locked up. We can't open anything. But if we grab our keys, from the outside we can still get access in there with our key. It'll just turn that cylinder over.

I'll show you guys that again because you should be able to . Yeah, there we go. See that little post move as we lock and unlock that. So now take the key out and then we can operate it as normal.Comes with the two keys and the hardware to get everything attached. You'll get two different lengths for the bolts going through. So, if you have a slightly narrower door it'll still work with that and then we'll get the two screws to attach our striker plate. As far as the width of door that this can work with, you have about an inch and a half of span at the max roughly and the distance between our hardware center to centers is about an inch and three quarters. You need to drill out about a 5/16 inch diameter hole for the two bolts going through and then also for the center pin. You might need to waddle that out though to allow that spindle to fully turn without hitting the door at all and then for our lock mechanism you'll need a 7/8 inch hole drilled out, just three quarters of an inch deep. So you don't want to drill that all the way through. You just want to cut it out a little bit to allow that to sit nice and flush.So nothing too terribly complicated, just want to make sure you get everything lined up nice and straight before you actually make any holes and should work out well. The center pin can be snapped off or sawed down to length, might be able to kind of see there's a little indentions on that piece so it can kind of snap off if you need it to be a little bit narrower and then of course our screws can also be cut down to length. That does come with longer screws that I have installed right now and also slightly shorter. But if you needed a little bit shorter than even that, you can also modify it as needed. This is covered by a lifetime warranty and that's about all there is to it for the JR Products locking camper door latch. Again, it is available in silver, like you see here and also white and black.
