Hey, everybody. Welcome to etrailer.com. I'm Bobby. Today we're taking a look at the Coghlan's camping grill. Now this is going to be a nice little way of course, it's giving yourself a little shelf that go ahead and set up above your fire. And that's going to go ahead and allow you to get your pots, pans, what other kind of cookware you need on this guy and allow you to cook a nice hot meal for yourself.
Now it is made of a nickel plated steel design, so that means it will be resistant to any kind of corrosion. And this type of coating is excellent for putting your heavier, bigger items on here. That nickel coating's usually the base layer for a lot of the other platings you start seeing put on there. This is a great little base layer that is really resistant to any kind of scuffing, scraping, that sort of thing. Um, and that's what's really nice about it.
You're able to get your cookware up on here with no trouble and it is gonna be holding up for the seasons to come, which is going to be great. Um, like we said, excellent for supporting that cookware, which is awesome. Now, unfortunately, Coghlan's says, go ahead and say, this is primarily only, well, should only be used for cookware only. So no direct grilling on here that might because of the nickel plated on here, you might start seeing that nickel plate start to wear off, and we don't want that leach into the food of course. Now, I haven't really seen anything about nickel leaching being a huge deal for people with food prep, um, but it does say on their website, and of course we always want to go with what the manufacturer is telling us that way we are not endangering ourselves as we are camping.
Um, if you are looking a way of having a grill to go ahead and actually grill on top of us, the GSI outdoor camping grill can be a nice little way of actually cooking directly on that. And that also is going to be a stainless steel design, which is think is what is allowing you to go ahead and just directly cook on there. So this is going to be excellent though, guys, for still setting up your pots, you can have a great time boiling water for your coffee. Um, anything else you need up on here. Kettles, whatever.
Gonna be a nice little way of just going ahead, giving yourself a nice little shelf to start going ahead, have a nice stable platform to grill, or uh, heat up any of our cookware elements that we might actually be needing on our trip. So it's got a decent amount of space on here, which is great. The varying space between our prongs too. Hopefully you guys can see that it's going to be great. These guys, of course, your shorter ones, making sure your- your smaller items, your smaller cookware goods, aren't falling through there. And widening out for your bigger guys that we're not too worried about. It's going to be great, but I do like these smaller guys, giving us that option for ourselves. Just to give you guys an idea of the space in between these small little ones, just in case we're worried, it looks to be around about three quarters of an inch or so, so nothing, nothing too crazy, nothing too large, not too small either. And it does kind of vary depending where the hinges are, but nothing too crazy that's going to be throwing us off too bad. So give you guys an idea though, the grill itself is going to be sitting right about 23 and one quarter inches for it's overall length. And of course that overall width for ourselves is going to be putting us right about 12 inches there for ourselves guys. Now the base of our legs here is going to be pretty important and we can go ahead, try and sneak this guy through here really quick. So from one of our legs to the other is going to be putting you right around 29 and a half inches long. So that will be the space you need above your, or around your fire of course, to go ahead and get these guys set in there. And just to give you guys an idea for our height here today, looks like the underside is going to be putting us right over seven and a half inches. You guys can go ahead and see about seven and a half inches of clearance between, um, our shelf and the ground, wherever a fire might be. So to go ahead and make sure we're not having our flames look up too much, of course on here. Now that's one thing I might be saying to here, uh, depending on what kind of fire your guys build, not too much room underneath here, of course, and these legs aren't super, super long, uh, and you can't really get them up here cause you started losing a lot of that stability, of course. So you're going to be set kind of in that max position. Could be nice to go ahead and maybe stock up some stones or something on these corners to go ahead and get it above your fire. And of course, just making sure that your fire's not too crazy when you guys are wanting to go ahead and start grilling on here, which can be nice. So one thing I do like about it too, it does fold up, which makes it really easy to store as you guys can see, we can simply bring those legs in. That's going to go ahead and allow us to stick this somewhere very, very skinny inside one of our storage compartments, in the RV, camper, wherever we might be. Definitely not going to be taking up too much room, which I do like. Personally though, if I'm getting a camping grill, I'd rather just go ahead and drill directly on it. Um, obviously gonna be great if you guys are big coffee drinkers or if you get a lot of people that you want to get, like a lot of cooking done, I could see this being awesome. Getting a couple of pots set up on here, and talking about kind of weight capacity. We didn't have any specifically listed. I did try it out, look something about 50 pounds on there. However, that was really starting to kinda get it a little wiggly, little shifty, didn't seem to really like that. So I'd say for sure, 50 pounds, your limit after that, you're really starting to push it, but I don't see us getting really more than 50 pounds on here. That's going to take a lot of beans, a lot of water, a lot of supplements, pots and pans, to really started exceeding that weight. So of course just watch it. You start seeing it get a little rickety. I'd probably take one off, cook something else and get everything else up on there. But again guys, gonna be nice little way of going ahead, give yourself a little shelf to make sure that you have a nice hot meal wherever you go. Well guys, I think that's gonna do it for our look today at the Coghlan's camping grill here today at etrailer.com. I'm Bobby. Thank you for watching..
