Today we're going to take a quick look at the Bulldog Winch Power Socket. Now this is going to be a nice kit, because it's going to come with a bunch of different options as far as mounting. We'll get our socket itself, it's going to have a waterproof gasket to go over the opening there, so we don't have to worry about this getting any water inside and causing any shorts. Works out really well for any kind of off-road use, if you're putting this in an ATV, UTV, maybe a rock-crawling Jeep, something like that, or even a boat. So it's going to be very versatile for that, it has a lock, or a turn lock design for any objects that you're putting in there, or any electronics that you're putting in there. It has a threaded barrel to that, so it'll work out with the ring nut to go on the back.
So once we've decided where we want to put this, again we'll have three different options.So this one is going to be sort of an under dash mount, you can attach this underneath your dash, have the socket go through there. It has a flat side on either . Or it has a flat edge on either side of that, to match up with our socket, so it fits nice and snug in there. Tighten it down with that ring nut, so that's one option. You'd put the included screws through that bracket, hangs down underneath your dash.
That'd work in something like a Jeep or your boat.You can also use a flush mount, so if you're wanting to mount this into the dash itself, and have this kind of look like a factory plug you can do that. I like this one a lot, I think it's really sleek, especially since it has a little cutout for the cover there. Just makes it look pretty slick. Again, we'll have the place to put our mounting screws in, and those do have a conical, or countersunk design. And the bracket also has something to match that, so those will sit nice and flush in there.
I think that just looks really snazzy.And then our third option is going to be the over dash mount. So if you want to have this kind of sitting up on top of your dash somewhere, maybe in an RV or something like that, you can use this slightly larger option. So now we would mount our screws into the cover over the top there, and it would sit something like that so that we can get everything plugged up. Again, all of those are going to use that ring nut to go on the back and secure that in place. So it's going to come with everything we need there.As far as our electrical connections, we get these two spade connectors, those go on the end.
The thing I think is kind of neat about this design for these, is that they're at a right angle. A lot of times those spade connectors just come straight out of the back, and then it's kind of tricky to get this fit in there, because now you've got to allow for that wire to go back, and then bend down. So by having this right angle design, it's already angled down. So it saves you a little bit of space. The plug itself, or the socket itself, is going to be 2" long. And that's . It's really 2-1/4", 2" and a 1/4" long, with our spades on the end there. So something to keep in mind. The barrel itself is about an inch wide, or an inch in diameter.Our over the dash mount is just over 3" long, about 3-1/4" long. And then about 2-1/4" wide, and it will sit about 2" tall. So a little bit bulky for my taste, but if this is an option that works for you, it's a nice housing, just a plastic design. Again all of it comes in black, black goes with everything, matches any interior you might have. Our flush mount is about 2-3/8" long, and about 1-3/4" wide. And about 1/4" thick, so pretty sleek, pretty low-profile. The width on our under dash mount is about 2-1/2", the distance between those two mounting holes center to center is about 2". The width is about 5/8", and this is going to stick out or hang down about 2".So overall I think this is going to be a really nice kit. This is going to be a 12-Volt, 20-amp power socket. Again that cap, water tight, so you can see it has a nice thick lip there so it's going to stick down pretty far in there. Give it a good seal, ese it indoor or outdoor. We'll have our large contacts there, makes a good electrical connection. So I think this is a pretty nice kit. You can't really beat it for the price, and it's just going to allow you to have that nice 12-Volt socket in just about any vehicle you'd need it in. That's going to do it for our look at the Bulldog Winch Power Socket.

Was looking for something robust and this did not disappoint. It is rated for 20amps and has three mounting bracket options included which is why it work out perfectly for my installation. The twist lock retention feature is also desirable. ETrailer is also great with communication and meeting delivery estimates.
Nice auxiliary port. I mounted it on the drivers side kick panel of my ‘18 Equinox to plug a Patriot 2 brake system into. I was able to fish the hot line to the battery along with the 2 conductor break away cable through the firewall at the steering wheel grommet.
Installed the power socket on the rear bumper of my travel trailer in order to power a 12V cooler. I used the "dog house" mount and weather proofed it with silicone caulking. Installation was simple and I expect it to last a long time.
Sturdy and well built. I put these on a couple Cub Cadey Grizzly SxS (like a Gator).
Mostly use them to hook up battery chargers, but have used them to run a 12v tire inflator out in the field.

Bought these to replace some cracked stair lights on a travel trailer. They're direct replacements to the one's I have and I even reused the pigtail so no rewiring was needed. They appear to be as bright or brighter than the original but with energy saving LEDs.
The only possible con is that the outer housing didn't seem to snap on as firmly as most light housings do. It doesn't seem loose so hopefully it's not a problem down the road.
Just purchased this Bulldog winch power socket for my bass boat installed quick and easy looks and works great. Product seems to be totally waterproof and is better than others I have seen online. It was out of stock when I purchased it and was kept updated on status very well thanks to George and Steve. They said it would be a couple of weeks and it was here in half that time customer service like that is almost nonexistent these days but not with etrailer way to go guys. If you need something for your trailer or other things related they will more than likely have it great place to deal with.thanks etrailer and staff.
Really great price on a very versitile 12 power connector. The housing that comes with the kit allows a side mount in the event that the mounting surface does not allow for sufficient depth. I mounted this on a wall in a compartment in my fifth wheel. The area behind the wall was was obstructed by a steel cross member so this mount was ideal in this situation. The fact that this socket has the locking system makes this an excellent buy.
Well made and enough installation options to suit almost any need! Would definitely buy again!!
I used these to surface mount receptacles in an RV for plugging in accessories phone chargers etc. Decent quality sturdy a good good quality for the money
I have not installed the Power Socket yet so I cannot rate the quality. Shipping time and cost were reasonable and the items arrived in excellent condition. I did not provide a 5 star review since I cannot confirm product quality.
