Video Transcript for MaxxTow Wide Spot Beam Off-Road LED Lights Review

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the Maxxtow off-road lights. So you can pick these up as a pair, or you can grab one individually. My first impression of these, they're super bright, and I feel like you get a lot of bang for your buck. So each light is gonna be rated at 27 watts, and puts out 2,150 raw lumens of light. Which, you know, compared to some of the other lights out there, you know, these are almost brighter and more economical.

And I actually picked these up. This is my personal boat. I run the river a lot, and it's dark out there a lot of times. Not really a whole lot of other people out there, especially at night. And so I wanted to be able to have something like this to help me navigate, watch out for logs, or even, you know, if I'm going to put this on the trailer, whatever.

It's just good to have these up there. And they've been working out real well. These are a spot beam, which is what I was looking for. I really didn't need, you know, a flood beam that shoots out real wide at a shorter distance. I'd rather have, you know, lights, you know, a little more targeted I guess you could say where that beam shoots out a lot further.

And really gives you some good visibility at nighttime. Went ahead and turned off the overhead lights just to kind of get a better visual, you know, it's only gonna do so much. We're in a small garage today. But I mean it, these work, you know, they're super bright, and I just put these on not too long ago. And the last time I was out, it's wintertime right now, it's really not, you know, running a whole lot at nighttime.

But the last time I was out it was starting to get dusk to the point where, you know, it was kind of that threshold where you could turn your lights on. Didn't really need to, but I wanted to test these, give these a test, you know, in that lower light condition, turn 'em on. And even at dusk you could see probably, you could see the light hitting the trees, and on the bank at probably 60 yards or so. So under full nightfall, I don't see you having an issue with these casting light out probably a hundred yards or so. At least in my opinion. So they definitely will do the job. One of the cool things about these is how versatile they are. You know, they mount up real easy, they run off 12 volts, and so you can put 'em on a ton of different things. You know, obviously we have 'em on a boat today. It sounds like a lot of people use 'em for side by sides, four wheelers, jeeps, trucks, campers, you know, just about anything. So you definitely have a lot of options, and since they are compact you are gonna be able to kind of squeeze 'em in just about any space. They're only gonna be four and a half inches around. The light's housing is gonna be aluminum, and it's gonna have some heat sink fins on the back of it to help dissipate the heat that the lights generate. And keep 'em cool and shining bright. The lens is gonna be polycarbonate, to me it just feels like super thick plastic. And then the hardware and the mounting base and everything, that's all stainless. So you shouldn't run into any corrosion issues, which is a good thing. 'Cause a lot of people are probably gonna have this on stuff that gets beat up and out in the weather and whatnot. And each light is going to have a total of nine individual LEDs. The mounting brackets will let you adjust the angle of the light. And how I like to set mine up is to tighten that bolt down just enough to where this will stay put. But you can still physically kind of force it forward or back to just the angle. That way kind of do it on the fly if you need to make a change there. But that's just how I like to do it. In terms of, you know, getting these installed. It's just, you know, you gotta hook up 12 volt power. You gotta power and ground, mount these up. If you're gonna be adding these to your application, we carry a lot of the parts that you might need to make that happen. We carry wiring, all the electrical connectors, toggle switches, and things like that. So just keep that in mind when you're going to set something like that up. So other than that, at the end of the day, you know, I feel like you get a lot of bang for your buck. I'm happy with 'em, and I feel like a lot of you out there will be as well. But I think that'll about do it for a look at of the Maxxtow off-road lights.

  • Replacement Headlight Bulbs for a 2005 GMC Yukon Denali
Your 2005 GMC Yukon Denali does indeed use the 9005 bulbs. The 9006 can fit as well. If you are looking for halogen bulbs then Vision X makes a good product, # VX-D9005. These are 9005 bulbs and DOT compliant. For even greater visibility I recommend adding some driving lights as well, # MT80637. They come with wiring and can mount just about anywhere there is space.

  • Amperage Draw of MaxxTow Off-Road Light # MT80637
The wattage of the MaxxTow Off-Road Light # MT80637 is 27 that means this draws 2.25 amps per hour. Depending the amp hour rating of your battery will dictate how long that would last.

  • Is the Lens of the Optronics Backup Light # BU11CS Glass or Plastic
The Optronics Backup Light, # BU11CS, has a polycarbonate lens. Since it uses an incandescent bulb, I do not recommend using this light as a driving light because an incandescent bulb will build up heat when left on and it is not rated or designed to be used as a driving light. I recommend using actual driving lights like part # MT80637. These lights are similar in diameter and also comes with its own wiring harness.
