Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Aries ActionTrac motorized running boards. So these are what our running boards are gonna look like installed when we have the mechanism retracted. So, our first glance what you're gonna see we have a nice durable powder-coated finish that's really gonna help these running boards do a great job of resisting rust and corrosion. Now, a lot of running boards because of where they're located, underneath the vehicle here, they're gonna be subjected to a lot of road conditions, a lot of bad weather. So if you're in a state that uses salt, these things can really get eaten up pretty dang quick from that salt. However, we really shouldn't have any issues here with the ActionTrac 'cause again we have this nice durable, powder coated finish that is throughout the running boards as well as the brackets.
So really no part of our running boards here, the installation kit, the boards, should really have any issues with rust or corrosion. So the ActionTrac running boards they're not the only motorized running boards on the market. There's another pretty common set. However, I really think the ActionTrac beats these guys out because number one, the main thing here, is that the motor for the ActionTrac is actually gonna be encased here. Therefore, it's not gonna be subjected to the elements that we're gonna see with an item mounted on the underside of our vehicle here.
So therefore the longevity, the reliability of the ActionTrac here is gonna far surpass the competition. So what do motorized running boards do Well, it's kinda obvious but essentially when we open our doors, we're gonna have an additional step here. So what this additional step does is, it's gonna provide us even more aid getting in and out of our truck here. Because it's gonna be sitting much lower to the ground, we don't have to step up as much to get to that first step to help us get into our truck. So it's no secret nowadays with trucks, they keep making them taller and taller meaning they're gonna sit higher up and up.
So it's gonna be more difficult to get into our truck. But with this lower step here, it's definitely gonna help us a lot more. Even more so than just a normal set of nerf bars or running boards. So here you can see it a little bit better how much we really have here before we have to get to that first step. It's not much at all.
We really don't have to jump up at all as opposed to up here, would definitely be a little bit more of a step. So it's gonna make it a heck of a lot easier to get in and out of your truck. Maybe your wife isn't as tall, you have some elderly family members that are getting in and out and they need a little bit more assistance, it's gonna be super easy for them to get in and out of your truck. So we obviously can't be driving down the road with that step as low as it is. But since they're automatic, they're gonna retract back up into the body there. We're not gonna have to worry about any decreased ground clearance issues. So if we take a closer look at the surface of our running boards here, you can see we have sort of these grooves and channels. And what this is gonna do is, it's really gonna help us get a pretty good bite of our shoes on these boards here. We're not gonna have to worry about slippage. So normally on a dry day is probably not as big of an issue as it would if it's winter time, you have salt, snow even mud or water if it's raining. These surfaces can tend to get a little bit slick because we have all this debris piling up on top of the board. These channels here are gonna help separate that debris and give you some good bite with your shoes here so you don't have to worry about slipping. So convenient is a pretty big factor with our running boards here. Everything is gonna be automatic, the open and close with our front and rear doors on either side there. So we don't have to worry about hitting a switch or a button each time. Everything is automatic. But there will be some times where you may not necessarily want the running boards to attract each time you're getting in and out of your truck. And we can't actually cut off the system there so we can open the doors, we don't have to worry about the running boards. Maybe we we're parked at a campground, we're just getting in and out of our truck to grab some things, we don't necessarily need to use our running boards. We just go ahead and hit that kill switch. That'll turn off the motor. We don't have to worry about them activating each time we open our door. And then you can just simply turn it back on when you need it. So another nice feature I liked about these running boards, we actually have a pretty bright built-in led light. We have one on each side and it's gonna assist us when we're getting in and out of our truck at night. So we can make sure we don't miss a step and hurt ourselves. So the ActionTrac running boards they are made of aluminum so we're really not gonna have any issue at all with rust or corrosion. They're also gonna be a little bit lighter when we're getting them on and off the vehicle. They come with a lifetime warranty and they are made here in the USA. Now in regards to installation, it's actually not as bad as it may seem. Physically mounting the running boards on this vehicle is probably the easiest part. It's definitely not hard at all, there's no drilling or modifications required. I would say the most time consuming part of the install not necessarily difficult, it's just running the wires to and from each of the door switches to the running boards and then to the battery. It's definitely something you guys can do at home. Just make sure you give yourself a little bit of time and that's gonna do it today for our look and installation of the Aries ActionTrac motorized running boards..

I liked the idea of a two step running board. My wife has had operations
on her knees and was difficult for her to get into her jeep with the
standard side steps. I started looking for powered steps and these
sounded like just the ticket. There was some fabrication involved,
because I installed them on a 2000 TJ Wrangler, but nothing too crazy. I
used some 3/16" flat bar and sandwiched it between the body mounts. In
retrospect, I should have used C channel for the longer front mount,
because I had to weld gussets on it. Welded a piece of angle to the
flat bar for the supplied mounts. If you don't have a welder, it could
all be bolted in with the C channel.
I also didn't care for the supplied magnets and switches held on with
tape to operate the steps. We hit up the u-pull-it wrecking yard and got
the same style switch that operates the dome lights and I installed them
above the original switches.
I put the door delete bypass in the housing for the front speakers on
the dash.
They have been installed for about two months now and we've had no
problems with the operation. Lots of likes from our friends who see them
in operation.

4.5* actually. Overall, I really like these. They are a good price and they look nice. Some of the brackets had to be bent a little bit to get them to line up correctly, but it wasn't bad. I've actually purchased these twice! I sold the first vehicle, but immediately bought these for the better optioned vehicle I traded up for. NOTE - DO NOT buy the door delete kit that can be added to this. It's a waste of money that overrides the basic automatic functionality on a daily basis. The basic kit includes an on/off switch already.

Very good steps, but the light "flickers" on/off on 1 side and stays on all the time on the opposite side! Doesn't really matter because they aren't bright enough to help in the dark!

Several concerns with this step. First is the design: The concept of two steps is so you can use two steps. However, the position that these rails attach to the truck makes them near level to the truck floor board which makes this step near useless. The second (lower) step is undependable when deploying and the angle at which it deploys means you have to step past the first to get in or out of the truck. So weird. This creates an awkward angle when getting in and out of the truck. When installing you must ensure the magnets are lined up perfectly. Even the slightest misalignment causes the lower rail to malfunction. The advertisement says these are maintenance free. This is not sure, you must routinely use a graphite lubricant on them. One step literally fell apart and they had to send another. We soent hours on the phone with their support team trying to diagnose why the seconds deployed erratically. The LED lights were a huge problem and turned on and off at intermittent times, even when parked. Very distracting for the neighbors. The third set of lights finally seem to be functioning correctly. When all said and done, after all the issues, they seem to be working fine, but again, the angle on which they deploy are not functional. If I had it all to do over, I’d never buy a deployable running board. They’re just a electric maintenance mess.

best looking running board! the ability to step on it to access roof rack is amazing and there is only one other competitor that does that. THIS IS NOT A ROCK SLIDE! But as a certified mall crawler this is great for the ladies and kids jumping in

The running boards have worked perfectly. the closed height is unobstructive for normal 4x4 use and the down position makes entry and exit easy even for persons with dexterity problems.
the light package is adequate for front and rear doors.
Installation went well, leave all bolts loose until mounted then tighten seems to make it easy.
I would highly recommend.

I order these for my 2022 Chevy 2500 they had them is stock and came fast. Very good fit bolted right on. It took me about 3 hours in my driveway to install them. They are about 12” off the ground when deployed. I like the 2 steps design very helpful. They look very nice and are built strong.

The running boards arrived sooner than expected and customer service is great. The website could be better to see and understand what exactly you’re buying. Haven’t been able to install them yet, had to order extra parts. Downgrade one notch due to website.

I have to say I was a little bummed when UPS showed up with my running boards and the box was destroyed so I refused delivery called etrailer up they said no problem and my new ones were here in 4 days, on a Holiday weekend mind you, customer service is second to none I highly recommend purchasing from etrailer

I finally got them installed and they are wonderful. My wife has arthritic knees and it was very difficult for her to get in the Jeep. With these Motorized Running Boards she can now get in effortlessly.

These steps work very well. The installation of the bars are one of the most easiest I have seen. I have installed other brands and they took much longer. All the holes lined up as expected. The wiring is not for the faint at heart. We had to take the back seat out of the Colorado and peel back the carpet to run the wiring. The instructions were straight forward and easy to follow.
After owning these for a year they are still working like the day we put them on. We have had a few issues with the end caps of the walk boards being faded by the sun and turning white. The driver side light began blinking when the door was opened. I contacted the company and they sent me new end caps, stated that they had a bad batch sent to them that were not UV free and they sent a new light. I replaced the light and still have the problem. But the company appears to work well on warranty items. Only reason I did not give the the full 5 stars is due to the end caps fading and the light began blinking. Other wise I would purchase these again. They are not cheap by any means but are of a good quality.

After spending close to $xxxx, the first box was never received. Contacting etrailer was frustrating in that a true status of the second box could not be obtained until UPS sent a delivery notice. This resulted in having to change an installation appointment that took 4 weeks to get. Second, this shipment weighted close to 50 pounds and etrailer shipped the box, that is 6.5 feet long, that was held together by the equivalent of SCOTCH TAPE. The contents were spilling out of the box when the driver delivered the box. Needless to say etrailer really needs to get your staff together and just think about how your clients merchandise is handled once it’s in the hands of UPS

So far so good. It took me all day to install the boards, but, I approached it methodically. I wasted an hour trying to thread the main power lead through the firewall: then realized I could just grab a hot lead in the fuse panel next to the drivers door....a rookie mistake I will not make again. They work well and my wife loves the ability to actually get into and out of the 2500 Silverado...me too! Here to hoping they work for several years.

I am very happy with the steps with one exception I'll mention later. The Aries fore and aft action was perfect for our 2020 Ram 3500 chassis cab. The steps look great and were easy to install with running wires and locating the processor taking the most time. My only complaint regards the led step lights. Both began flickering then failed completely, the driver side after about six months and the passenger side in the last several weeks.

The running boards work very well. I am very pleased with the boards. The LED lights are a joke..they quit working within a few days of installation. The running boards work very well.

Aries Automotive ActionTrac Nerf Bars - Running Board after owning it for a year.
Great product. Still essentially functioning as expected. I would recommend them to anyone.
There are 2 issues to address however.
1- The lights that come with them did not last 6 months. I ended up ordering some high quality lights and swapping them out once they decomposed and failed.
2- The endcaps will not stay in place without modification. I used resin on mine to keep them in place.
I still love them. They look an operate great. The fixes are easy.

There is no real measurement for fitment so I would look at potential clearance issues and how far the steps will come down when extended to see if that will work.
