Adding Steps to 2013 Ford F-150

Question:

Hello, I am looking for some electric steps to put on a 2013 Ford F150, My friend had a stroke and now has trouble entering / exiting his truck. Can you recommend a set of electric steps that will be a good / close fit I am a welder / fabricator by trade so as long as its close it will be OK Thank you, Ralph

Hi Ralph; it sounds like you're already aware of this but adding steps like the # LC372261 you were looking at would be a completely custom job. There is no real measurement for fitment so I would look at potential clearance issues and how far the steps will come down when extended to see if that will work. These particular steps have a height of 7-3/4" when folded and 14-1/8" when extended. The steps measure 23-3/4" wide x 11-3/8" deep with an 8" drop/rise.

When we have come across this in the past people typically add a single step like the # LC3747453. This has an extended height of 9-5/8" and folded height of 6". Since you're familiar with custom work I will leave it up to you to decide what would be best.

If it is a SuperCrew Cab the Aries ActionTrac Motorized Running Boards # AA3048326 are another possible option. This has an 8" step extension down from the top step. The cost is higher but it would add steps to all of the doors on the truck so your friend could use any door for entry.
