How Much Does Curt A16 Fifth Wheel Hitch with R16 Slider Weigh

Question:

Those of us contemplating 5th wheel towing with half-ton trucks need to pay close attention to weights. Obviously, one of the big concerns is NOT exceeding the rear GAWR. Usually we know the hitch/pin weight of the trailer we have in mind towing to help with those calculations. The problem is thisyou dont list the actual weights of your hitches and your mounting brackets. These weights need to be added to the calculations as well. Im not talking about weight ratingsIm talking about how much does it actually weigh when I go to lick it up and put it in the back of my truck. In my case, I need to know the actual weight of C16521 and C16441-204. Thanks,

The fifth wheel rail kit part # C16441-204 weighs a total of 60 lbs and the fifth wheel hitch part # C16521 weighs 193 lbs.

Combined these two weight 253 lbs.

Does the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider C16521 break down into separate components to get into and out of the truck easily? Im looking to be able to remove the hitch between camping trips and even at the campsite for longer stays.

Yes, depending on your definition of "easily." The Curt A16 head # C16520 will allow you to remove the head from the crossbar with a single pin. This will leave the bolted crossbar on the R16 slider base # C16560. That base and crossbar will be about 125 lbs, but you will remove about 65 lbs when you remove the head using that pin.
