Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, I'm gonna take a look at this Bulldog Winch heavy-duty hoist with the wire rope and roller fairlead with an 800-pound weight capacity. Now this is a nice heavy-duty hoist that'll let you lift and hold an engine, a garage door or other heavy objects. So it's perfect for use on the wall or the floor of your garage or shop or you can even mount it to a beam, a crane arm or a trailer with the mounting plate. Now the mounting plate we do sell separately on our website.
This hoist has a one-horsepower permanent magnet motor. Delivers powerful, fast and safe line-pulling. The power unit right here at the top includes the contactor, the plastic housing and all your electric wiring. You can see as I rotate it. You can see that.
Now they do also offer a wiring kit that we do sell separately on our website. that'll let you remotely mount this power unit if you need to. You can see the battery wires that come out of it are a two-gauge size battery wire and the length of it is about five-and-a-half feet. Now it is a sealed contactor. So it'll transmit power from your rechargeable automotive battery to the hoist motor and it is water and weather resistant to IP67 specifications.
This does use an automatic double-cone brake which will hold a hundred percent of the load, meaning the cone disengages when the motor and the gear train are running. And it will engage when the motor and gear train stop. It does use an all-steel three-stage planetary gear train, provides power to the motor. The gear ratio on that is 187 to one. Now right here, it also includes this nice rubber handheld remote.
Has a nice rubber grip on it, even has a strap that you can put through your hand to hold onto it. And the switch is also protected with a rubber coating on it. It does offer a 20-foot lead and it'll let you operate the hoist from a nice, safe distance. So if you push it, put the switch down, the toggle switch down, it shows the cable in. If you push it up, it's cable out. And then where it connects, you just take your plug at this end here. And you'll notice on the housing here, the power unit, you just line the mark. There's a mark here. And there's a mark right at the very top. Just line those marks up and it'll allow you to push that on, catch your connection. Now you can operate it at a nice distance. And then when you're done, all you have to do is just remove it, unplug it, take your dustcover, put over it that'll protect it from the connections. Now I wanna zoom in here and talk about the hoist itself. The wire rope on it is a three-sixteenths diameter zinc-plated wire rope. It's very strong and abrasion-resistant. It is 50 foot long. It is an aircraft-grade galvanized steel cable. And if you notice, it's connected on the end here with a half-inch zinc-plated steel hook and they even include this nice hand-saver strap. Does use the steel roller fairlead with a nice thick frame. And you notice it has four rollers, two horizontal, two vertical. This'll help reduce friction and wear on the rope. So if your rope gets to the side, in other words if it's pulled at an angle and your rope goes up against the side, it'll still hit the roller, so it doesn't wear it out. Now it is a silver zinc-plated finish to resist corrosion. This does have a nice heavy-duty aluminum housing with the thick side frames and the tie bars, create a nice strong hoist body. Has a nice gray powder coat finish on it, which is corrosion-resistant. And it does use a Dacromet-plated motor too to resist internal corrosion. Few specs on this. The rated line pull with a single layer of wire rope around the drum is 800 pounds. The motor, we mentioned, it's a 12 volt DC motor, a line pull at zero pounds, the power draw will be 25 amps, the line speed is 15 feet per minute. The line pull at 800 pounds, your power draw will go 60 amps and the line speed is 10.8 feet per minute. We had mentioned the wire rope, the dimensions three-sixteenths diameter, 50 foot in length. Now the dimension on this winch is gonna be lengthwise about 15-and-a-quarter inches long. Widthwise, it's gonna be right about four-and-a-half inches wide. And the total height from the bottom to the tallest point is about seven-and-one eighths inches tall. The drum dimension itself is five-and-a-quarter inches long. And the diameter on this drum is two-and-three eighths inches. Total weight of this unit with the wire rope on it is about 33 pounds. But that should do it for the review on this Bulldog Winch heavy-duty hoist with the wire rope, the roller fairlead and an 800-pound capacity..
