Recommended Breaker Size Before Solenoids for Bulldog Winch Trailer Winch Installation

Question:

I was thinking of using this winch on our boat to lift a 500lb tender. The current install has a Breaker before the solenoids, which id like to keep in place, if possible. What Size breaker should i put inline?

I spoke with my contact at Bulldog Winches and the Bulldog Winch Trailer Winch - Wire Rope - Hawse Fairlead - 3,400 lbs # BDW15017 should not be used to lift your 500 lb tender since winches are designed to pull loads over ground.

Instead, you would want to use a hoist like the Bulldog Winch Heavy-Duty Hoist - Wire Rope - Roller Fairlead - 800 lbs # BDW69AR. This hoist has a maximum draw of 60 amps so you would want to use a 60 amp or slightly higher breaker.
