Video Transcript for etrailer E-Track 2 Inch Strap Fitting Review

Hi, everyone; Aiden here with Etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the etrailer E-Track slot fitting. It's gonna be a way to create an anchor point if you need to tie something down like a mower, an ATV, a car, something where you maybe don't have the best clearances to tie something down. This can act as an anchor point for your strap and we've got it on a generator here today 'cause we don't have a vehicle to show but this is gonna demonstrate the principle and how it works. Let's check it out. Now our tie down is off to the side pretty far away and this slot fitting is going to accept a two inch wide strap and create an anchor point where that can go from the tie down straight up over our cargo.

So let's say this generator were a tire of a car. We wouldn't have room underneath the bumper to have an extra tie down point or a ratcheting mechanism of our ratchet strap, or it'd just be hard to reach, especially with limited wheel well clearance. Something like this lets us get right up to the tire, right up to that cargo, and still get good leverage and hold onto it tight. And this bend right here is where we see the weaknesses of a tie down point or a anchor point like this. Our tie down, which our ratchet strap is actually hooked to, is off to the side.

Now if we had that in line with the E-track here, then it'd be fine. We'd have a straight pole, but here we're putting some weird stress on the strap because it's really only meant to be run straight out from it, not put at an angle like this. On the other side though, we've got the etrailer E-track roller. This is going to be pretty much the exact same idea, letting us get a strong anchor point and tension on the strap wherever we need it, while still having that anchor point for the S hook on our ratchet strap somewhere off to the side. But this has this roller bar and it's articulating.

So you can see I can rotate it a little bit right now but that'll move 360 degrees and side to side. So, with our tie down point being off to the side a bit, we're not putting near as much stress or strain on the strap as we we're before, making this a better option for something like that. When using the fitting, you wanna make sure you're not overloading it. It's gonna have a safe working load limit of 1,467 pounds and a break strength of 4,400 pounds. When using it, be sure to also check things like your e-track, your tie-downs, and your ratchet strap that you're using.

Go by the lowest rated component there and make sure that you're not overloading anything in your tie-down system. Just because the fitting has those weight ratings, doesn't mean your ratchet strap does. The steel construction keeps it nice and durable and the yellow zinc plating on the outside is gonna help it resist rust and corrosion over time, makin' sure that, even if it's in an outside trailer, like an open utility trailer, it doesn't rust and corrode when it rains. The mechanism on the top, the trigger latch functions just as every other E-track accessory does, opening it up to allow you to slide it in, lock it in place, and secure your cargo. If they're using this on horizontal, vertical, E-track, or an X-track system, you can be able to mount it up wherever you need. And, again, when comparing our fitting to our E-track roller, I prefer the roller just because you've got a lot more movement out of this piece to adjust it to any angle you want. If you already have tie-downs in your trailer that don't necessarily line up perfectly with your E-track system, then you don't need to buy extra tie-downs. But if you've got a full length of E-track in your trailer and you plan on utilizing all of it and using something like this with an extra anchor point on the E-track, then I think it'll work just fine. My big thing with this is just makin' sure that the strap is running straight through it and pulling evenly. That way it's not causing unnecessary wear and tear. Whereas, with something like this, you can move it around a lot more freely and it's a bit more versatile but it just depends on what you're using this with and how you're gonna be tying things down. This has just been our quick look at the etrailer E-track fitting. Thanks for watchin'.
