Video Transcript for Erickson E-Track Tie-Down Anchor Installation

Hey guys, Kevin with etrailer and today I'm gonna be taking a look at the Erickson E-Track Tie-Down Anchors. So our neighbor today bought this utility trailer to haul around his four-wheeler. We already put some e-track in so that he could easily secure his four-wheeler in place. But when he went to take this trailer out with his kayaks, he found that the e-track wasn't really positioned in a great way for him to put down the kayaks and then get his straps in place. So what we've done is gone ahead and added in the Erickson E-Track Tie-Down Anchors in each corner. Taking a closer look at this, you can see it has a 360 degree swivel so that you can easily get the angle that you need instead of just that one standard slot that most of your tie-down E-Track plates typically have.

There's a wide variety of different accessories you can clip into place, like our little Erickson Tie-Down strap here. Easily pop that in. And if I need to turn it, maybe I have some furniture, maybe I have a bike, then I'm gonna put the middle. I need to have it at that angle. No big deal at all.

It easily slides around to whatever I need. Our solid steel construction here has a nice bright zinc coating over it to help resist rust and corrosion. It does have a 2000 pound load capacity and it also comes with a backing plate that's going to allow for some additional support. But if you decide that you want to install this on the wall of your trailer or your truck, you can just throw that plate to the side. I do wanna mention that it doesn't come with any hardware just because they don't know exactly what you're going to be installing this on, so you will have to source that locally.

So just for demonstration purposes, we've gone ahead and loaded up our golf cart onto our trailer and we have plenty of room to the side of our wheels right here, so that we can easily load up and tie down our golf cart. So the first step of your installation is gonna be determining where exactly you want your anchor to sit. So our neighbor today just wants it up in the corner. That way he can get his kayaks tied down properly. One thing you wanna look at though is what's gonna be under here.

If we have any wiring, anything like that that's gonna get in the way, there's definitely a support beam right here. And then also we have the angle iron down here that I'm gonna have to drill through just on these two holes right here. So you wanna keep that in mind as you're choosing your space. Cause you don't wanna get stuck into a position where you get a couple screws in and then realize you can't get the rest. But right where we have it right now, I've got it about four inches back. Looks pretty good. We're gonna miss that support beam. I'm only gonna have to drill through the these two holes right here into that angle iron so we should be good. So the next step, I'm gonna take a clamp and I'm just gonna clamp this down cause this is gonna make it a whole lot easier to drill out each of our holes into our wood right here. If I just clamp it down versus drawing little marker spots for it or just putting our drill through it. So I'll just tighten down with our clamp. And this is honestly the best way to do it. Then you don't have to worry about it moving at all while you're making your holes, especially if you use a marker and maybe that drill walks on you a little bit. So I'm gonna use a 1964 drill bit and we're gonna start drilling through our wood. In right there. We're hitting our metal. So now I'm just gonna drop in our bolts. You're gonna need eight for every single tie-down that you do. Just drop those down and then I'll start hand tightening on my nylon lock nuts. So I'm also going to put my plate in place. And we can start hand tightening on those lock nuts. Go ahead and do the opposite side just to hold it in place. I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna use a wrench up on the top to hold the head of my bolt and a socket to tighten down our lock nut. With all of our hardware tightened down, now we can go ahead and start doing this with all of our other ones. Well, that does it for today's look at the Erickson E-Track Tie-Down Anchors. My name's Kevin. Thanks for watching..

They look nice, I thought they were made in America as the company is in Michigan but the package has Made in China on the front and back. It works but not where I thought money was going.

We did a round trip of about 3K miles to The Sturgis Rally last August and a few trips for service in one of our enclosed trailers hauling an Ultra Limited. I have hauled many bikes etc over the years and these plates along with a quality chock and ratchets straps cargo buckle have been secure, problem free and a joy to use. Mine are installed on wood decking and the few extra minutes of install time is worth it and your are golden. I have one in each corner.
