Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located at the rear, along the inside of the driver's side frame rail.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Great wiring harness. Way better packaging than my trailer hitch assembly. But that isn't saying much. The trailer hitch assembly came mostly out of the box. And I had to bend it back inshape to make it fit.

Very easy installation! Thank you very much!

2000 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

The item was exactly what I needed, it worked as described and was very easy to mount and hook up. No issues what so ever. I would order again and recommend to anyone who is looking at this item. Before i ordered this item I had no way of plugging into a trailer for break lights, turning singles and running lights. My vehicle is 2000 chevy s10 using the factory bumper with a ball hitch added it all just worked great together like if it was straight from the assembly line. A simple plug and go no needing to splice any wires together. Thanks etrailer for a great product.

I ordered the wire harness and wire harness mount clip. The mount clip came without the mounting hardware, not a big deal.
I called up e trailer and spoke to Nick, he refunded me for the mount clip. I got the mounting hardware at home depot. I mounted it no problem and hooked up the wiring very easily. The products are great, the people are helpful, its a good company to do business with and I eill do business with them again in the future. Their how to videos simplify everything. Great company to do business with, thank you.

Trailer plug was mailed and received promptly, easy installations to my 2002 GMC Sonoma and finally lights function on my trailer. Thank you so much for your quality products and look forward to purchasing many more items from you all.

by:

This particular trailer harness for my 2003 chevy s10 was a perfect fit. The wiring was as simple as plug and play. The entire wiring harness install takes less than 5 minutes with the factory plug being accessible by the driver's side rear bumper.

by:

Was a snap to install and worked exactly as advertised. Sure beat cutting, testing, and splicing the wires together. Thanks also for speedy service and delivery.

by:

Great product, perfect fit, and an amazing staff that answered all my questions promptly and got me the exact hitch I needed! Thanks etrailer one happy customer here

1999 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

I'm 78-yeard-old and I installed this on my 1999 Chevy S-10. After watching the video on YouTube a couple of times it took me just a little over a half-hour. When I finished installing it, I hooked up my trailer, and everything worked right from the get-go.If you make sure you order the kit that is right for your car, the only way installation could be any easier would be if it had already been installed when you bought the car.

Still working like a charm.

Loved the idea from the start and installing was a lark. Everything continues to work perfectly. I cut one of the trailer wires jack knifing my trailer while trying to backup ha ha. After disconnecting the yrailer plug everything continues to work perfectly. Thanking you profusely.

Great. No trouble because it works so well.

2001 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

Happy with the order and service. One of the trailer hitch arms was bent almost 30 degrees due to lack of secure packaging and rough handling by UPS. etrailer sent me a replacement quickly after they saw the photo. Only comment was I got multiple emails from different associates at etrailer, so it was a little confusing about what they were going to do. It all worked out well, and I would order from them again.

The reason I bought this harness was because I bought a hitch assembly at the same time and needed the harness also. I am with the Disabled American Veterans and the reason for these purchases was we had a widow of a veteran who needed a way to transport her scooter. Well we installed the hitch and harness on her car along with a hitch mounted carrier for her scooter. She was now able to be more mobile than she was before. She could not walk well so this enabled her to go where she couldn't before. This was all donated to her at no cost to her.. She felt so blessed this happened. Yes your product worked well and it made a difference in someone's life.. Thank you...

2001 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

Wiring harness was used to wire a trailer connection on a Chevy S10 pickup. Installation was relatively easy if you like lying on your back under a somewhat rusty undercarriage. Connectors were easy to mate and the whole thing worked on the first try. Lots easier than cutting and splicing wires. Just plug and play.

1999 GMC Sonoma

Great fit for my small truck. I’ve wired in my own trailer wiring harness and this product took all the work out of the installation and allowed me to haul away. I’d fit this style adapter to any of my future ventures.

by:

S-10 trailer hitch. Had to remove the steel truck bumper, take off the arms that mount the bumper to the frame and mount the hitch arms between the bumper mounts and the truck frame itself. Afterward, we reinstaller the bumper.
The purchase has been a good one. Likely to leave it on the truck as long as it runs, which thankfully in 2021, this 2001 S-10 runs well.

by:

Purchased the trailer harness for my chev. s10. It was a very satisfying solution to an otherwise expensive problem. Very pleased, still works and it simply plugged in and that was it. Better than paying a trailer and hitch shop 150.dollars and waiting w/o my vehicle. Cost I believe was 20 something dollars and came to my door a few days later.

by:

It works fine. the only issue was getting it. Took forever, Shipping was very slow.

by:

This is as painless as it gets. Separate a connector for the taillights underneath the back of the truck. Plug this adapter in line. Tie strap the harness to the hitch. Done.

No cutting or splicing any wires. Worth every penny at twice the price.

by:
Lincoln LS

It works great and user friendly to install for the cabling.

The hitch was difficult in placement due to my truck being a LS extended cab side step bumper. Instructions on that type of install were not clear. I went [online] and found an installation video for my type of bumper and was able to install properly.
I've used it a couple of times since the install and works great for small loads in my little truck. A country girl has got to have her truck equipped.

2003 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

SO much better than hacking apart a factory wire harness. Extremely easy installation. Luckily on the s10s, the rear grounding bolt for the tail lights and fuel pump is literally where the connector is this trailer light harness plugs into. All you have to do is open up the ground eyelet on the harness with progressively larger drill bits (don't just try the size you need you'll ruin the eyelet, ask me how I know that....) and it will fit right over the bolt and provide a known good ground without drilling holes in the frame. Very fast shipping and excellent customer service. Awesome company and product.

This is a rediculously easy harness to install. Worked the first time, and the instructions are easy to follow.

i got this product because i didn't want to have to identify the wires on my truck. i was browsing the internet, looking for an easy way to tell how to hook up a cheap 4 wire connector, when i found a video of the wiring harness. dead simple. i knew that this was by far the easiest way to add trailer lights. dead simple... took less than 5 minutes.

  • How Would a 2000 GMC Sonoma Activate the Brakes of a Traile
To activate the brakes of your trailer will require you to install a brake controller. There isn't a way to tie your vehicle braking system into the braking system of a trailer but you can install a brake controller in your 2000 GMC Sonoma so that it can activate them as needed. A brake controller is a device that is designed to activate trailer electric brakes by using a signal with varying voltage to apply the brake either lightly or heavily. Proportional brake controllers are the way...

It is likely the result of a bad ground, but in order to determine the specific problem you encountered after installing harness # 118359 you'll need to use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the connector on your S-10 after disconnecting it from your trailer. Check the wiring going into your harness from your taillights to see if those wires are carrying the correct signals, if not then the issue is with the vehicle wiring.
