Recommended 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness For 1996 Chevrolet S-10
Question:
Will this work on a 96 s10 the same as on the 99 s10

Expert Reply:
The correct wiring harness for your 1996 Chevrolet S-10 is part # HM41115. You just plug this harness into the wiring harness on your truck that is located under the truck on the driver side frame rail. Then just attach the ground wire to a clean bare metal surface. Then you are ready to go.
The wiring harness you asked about is not a fit for the 1996 S-10.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
If you need a mounting bracket to hold the trailer connector and keep it from just hanging loosely, I recommend part # 18144.
