Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Great product

by:

I highly recommend this product if installing a hitch. It lessens the chance of overloading your vehicles electrical system and for LED lights on trailer. I did however get wire look to run hot wire to front of vehicle to the battery. Also get a small tube dielectric grease for all connections. Heat shrink tube or tape all connections all so. This helps to not have any problems in the future.

This product was easy to install and functioned very well.

So far so good on the trailer wiring kit. Took some effort to troubleshoot a faulty ground and/or power wire from existing system. Reran all wires for the new unit and works as it should. Satisfied customer. Cheers
*Note: Kits was installed on a 2011 Ford Escape

by:

Excellent service from eTrailer! The wiring kit arrived on the date promised and Julie H was very helpful on the phone ensuring the wiring kit was the correct one for my vehicle.

The kit is as described on the web site. Have not installed it yet although I'm confident it will work as indicated. Noticed the kit has a higher amp rating per circuit than other brands, a good thing all the way around!

by:

The website had plenty of information to be sure you would have everything you need for a seamless installation. The ordering process was easy and the customer service staff was attentive and extremely helpful. A breath of fresh air for an internet based operation. I will use them for all my future trailer and logistic equipment needs

Works great. A better way to have towing light that are bright without stressing my system. Thank you

2013 Ford Van

quick and easy. finding the route out of the sheet metal was the hardest part, but found one pretty quick! it turns out that my 2013 Ford E350 had a set of 4 wire already routed to the rear wnd just before the spare tire to a blank end that I could have used. Bu needed the extra power line on my setup anyway.

Took a little time to hook up ,but it works great. The instructions were excellent.I will let the local ford dealer know about your company as the supplier that they use has no listing for this hookup. Thanks again.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Connector White Ground Wire With Power When Lights Switched On
It sounds like you have a short in your trailer wiring. Since the white ground wire is getting power when you turn on your lights it is likely getting power from the brown running lights wire. If this is something on a factory harness you will want to trace the wiring and look for any damage to either wire. If you are using an aftermarket wiring like the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM11140495 it could be the module has failed if you are unable to find any damaged wiring....

  • Installation of the Hopkins Wiring Harness # 11140495 with Second Red Wire Capped
The Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # HM11140495 does not use that second red wire. I reached out to the manufacturer and the converter box is used on many models, so for your system the brake and turn signal are already combined so that red wire is not utilized and has a heat shrink cap on it. Other vehicles that have a separate turn from brake light would use that red wire for the brake light input.

  • Custom Fit Trailer Wiring Harness for 2007 Ford Focus Hatchback
We do have a custom trailer wiring harness that is a fit for your 2007 Ford Focus Hatchback. For that you would want the Hopkins kit part # HM11140495 which is a confirmed fit. The # 118457 only fits the coupes and the sedans though. The taillights are different between the hatchbacks and the sedans/coupes.

  • Aftermarket Vehicle Harness Only Running Lights Work On 2011 Ford Escape
It sounds like you have done all the testing that you can do. You have proven that you have power going to the converter from the battery and power coming from the taillights into the converter. With having power going into all the correct circuits and only the running lights coming out on the 4-way it has to be a bad converter. It is an electrical component and may have become overheated or damaged internally for a number of reasons. I recommend replacing the entire T-One Vehicle Wiring...

  • Would Short in Trailer Wiring Damage Vehicle Wiring in 2010 Ford Focus
Since the Curt trailer wiring harness part # 56014 that fits your 2010 Ford Focus draws power from the vehicle taillights for the trailer wiring it would potentially pop a vehicle taillight fuse in the event of a trailer wiring short. We do have a kit that also fits your vehicle that has circuit protection with the Hopkins part # HM11140495 which wouldn't damage your vehicle wiring in the event of a trailer wiring short.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2004 Ford E-350 With Cutaway Chassis
From your photo, it looks like you have a Ford E-350 with a cutaway chassis, and there is a heavy-duty hitch that can be bolted on, though you will need to be sure that the bolt holes where the hitch fits are exactly 38-5/8 inches from frame to frame. I recommend the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame # 41945 which is Class V rated and has a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 10,000 lbs and maximum tongue weight capacity of 1,500 lbs; this is the highest-rated hitch available for your vehicle....

  • 4-Pole Wiring Harness for 2007 Ford E-450 Shuttle Van Without Factory Tow Package
For 4-pole trailer wiring for your 2007 Ford E450 van without the factory tow package you can use Curt custom-fit passive harness # C56020 or the Hopkins custom harness # HM11140495 which has a powered converter. Both are shown on the linked page. The differences between the two are that the Hopkins kit requires an additional wiring step for installation and that it offers a much higher 8-amp output current rating. This harness will also protect the van's internal wiring from any shorts...

  • Recommended Wiring Harnesses to Add a 4 Pin and a 7 Way to a 2005 Ford E-450
Hey Jack, it's actually not to complicated, thankfully. All you're going to need to do is first add a 4 way with the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # HM11140495 which just plugs in line with your OEM harness and does not require any splicing. The last thing you'd need is # ETBC7, which tees off of the newly added 4 pole to also give you a 7 way. So by this point now, you should have both a 4 pin and a 7 way on your 05 E-450.

  • Will the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness Fit a 2006 Ford Focus ZXW SES
Yes, the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness part # HM11140495 is a fit for a 2006 Ford Focus ZXW SES. The Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness installs by plugging in behind the tail lights and then you must run a power wire to the battery but that is about it. There is no splicing involved with the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness and since it's powered you don't have to worry about damaging the vehicle's circuits. This is also the only plug-in-play option...

  • Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller in 2007 Ford E-350 without Trailer Wiring

From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. • Recommended Trailer Hitch And Wiring For 2007 Ford E-150
First, the trailer hitch I recommend for your 2007 E-150 is the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch, part # 41945. This is a Class V hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening. The trailer wiring I recommend is the Hopkins Plug-In Wiring # HM11140495. This just plugs into the connection points located behind the tail lights, and then you run the hot lead wire to the positive battery. The # HM11140495 is a 4-way trailer connector so if you need a 7-way trailer connector you will need...

For the wiring I recommend the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM11140495 as it uses a powered converter. This will give you a 4-way flat that controls the lights for the trailer.
