T-connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Way Flat Trailer Connector by Hopkins

Plug-N-Tow (R) Wiring Connectors provide a no-hassle, quick and easy way to wire your vehicle.

  • Each vehicle-specific connector is pre-wired and uses original OEM connectors for watertight protection, a guaranteed fit, and a great look
  • No cutting or taping
  • 16-Gauge wire
  • 4-Pole connector includes dust cap
  • Easy-to-follow instructions are included
  • Wiring harness includes a powered taillight converter
    • Powered converter is safer for your vehicle as the unit draws power directly from the vehicle battery instead of through its wiring system. This bypasses expensive electrical components on the vehicle while allowing for more power to flow to the trailer.

Can be used with 5-pole, 6-pole or 7-pole adapters.

Installation: Connection points are located behind the vehicle tail lights. An additional wire will need to be run to the front of the vehicle to connect to the battery. The 4-pole trailer connector will be stowed in the rear cargo area of the vehicle.

Tech Tip: It is always a good idea to apply a small amount of grease to all electrical connections to help prevent corrosion.

2007 Nissan Xterra

Harness was not as simple to install on 2007 xterra as stated on website. The plugs are not located directly behind the tail lights but behind the interior trim inside rear cargo area. Removing all the trim is challange. The product itself works great and the quality of the harness is great also.

  • Are Additional Parts Needed to Install Wiring Harness 43605 on a 2006 Nissan Xterra
The # 43605 wiring harness would be the only necessary part you would need to equip the 2006 Nissan Xterra with a 4-way plug, as this harness is made specifically for your vehicle and features a powered converter. A standard converter is used when a vehicle has separate turn and tail lights, because trailers feature a simpler wiring system. The converter converts the vehicle system, which has three wires, to match the trailers simpler, two wire system. A powered converter features a...

  • Which 4-Way Wiring Harness for 2005 Nissan Xterra SE Wiring
To find the correct wiring harness for your 2005 Nissan Xterra, you would need to know whether or not the vehicle has a tow package installed. To find this out for certain, you could check your paperwork for the vehicle or call the dealer with your VIN. If you do NOT have the tow package either part # 43605 or 118263 could be used, but in order to use # 118623 in the Xterra without the tow package, a relay that would be obtained from your Nissan dealer would need to be installed. If you...

  • Where to Run The Trailer Wiring Harness Out of the Passenger Compartment on a2005 Nissan Xterra
Usually there is a grommet some where that can be utilized to route the trailer wiring out of the interior of the vehicle and mount it near the trailer hitch. When you access the rear of the left side tail light look for a grommet. Once you find one close enough that the 4-way connector can reach you will need to make a small slit in the grommet to put the 4 wires in and then route the connector through the hole and reinstall the grommet. If you find a spot that you can use but it is not...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Related Items for Towing with 2008 Nissan Xterra X
We offer several choices in a 2-inch Class III hitch for your 2008 Nissan Xterra X and you can see these by clicking on the link provided. I recommend the Curt # 13514 because it has the highest tongue weight capacity (400-lbs) AND has the lowest cost too. You will want to check your owner's manual for confirmation of the vehicle's tongue weight capacity. You'll also need a wiring harness for your trailer's lights. Use part # C56225 if you do not have the factory tow package or part #...

  • Passing the Trailer Wiring Power Wire Through the Fire Wall on a 2008 Nissan X-Terra
Passing the wire through the fire wall is different for most every type and year model of vehicle. I would try to find a grommet, as you have, and remove it from the fire wall. If you can find a grommet with fewer wires running through it you will have a much easier time reinstalling it. Once the grommet is removed I would cut a small slit in the edge of the grommet with a razor knife, being careful not to cut any of the existing wiring. Pass the power wire from the trailer wiring harness...

  • Brake Controller and 7-Way Trailer Connector Install on 2007 Nissan Xterra
Since you will have trailer brakes and a battery, you will need at least a 6-Way connector, but I suggest going ahead and using a 7-Way as they are more universal. You will also need a brake controller to manage the electric trailer brakes. I will explain each of these parts, give some suggested part numbers, and help get you started with the installation. First, as you know, you will need a 4-Pole trailer connector. A 4-Pole provides the light functions on the trailer and will serve as...

  • Nissan Xterra Brake Controller Adapter
The product you referenced, 3050-P, is vehicle specific and will not work with your Xterra. Your vehicle needs to be hardwired to use an electric brake controller. The 3050-P is only for vehicles pre-wired to accept a brake controller. If you only need the Plug In Harness for the Tekonsha brake controller, product number 20127 will work for your vehicle. If your require the entire harness, you will need product ETBC7 and the wiring harness with the 4-Pole trailer connector, product number...

  • 2005 Nissan Xterra Trailer Wiring Troubleshoot
According to Curt, if your Xterra does not have the full tow package installed, the # 118263 will install, but as you have found, the trailer tail lights will not function. It sounds as if your Xterra does not have the factory tow package. For the Xterra without the tow package, we recommend either the Curt # C56225 which includes the sub harness and relays (which unfortunately, are not sold separately) or the Hopkins # 43605 that taps inline with the factory harness connection to the...

  • Does Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 43605, Need Anything Else To Work On A 2006 Nissan Xterra
On your 2006 Nissan Xterra without the tow package, you will need the Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 43605, which will connect to connectors located behind the taillights of your vehicle. This will have everything you will need to have a 4-Pole trailer connector on the rear of your vehicle. The Hopkins wiring kit will include a length of wire that you will run from the powered converter to the front of the vehicle and attach to the vehicles positive side battery terminal with an...

  • What Do I Need to Equip My 2007 Nissan Xterra to Tow a Boat?
Typically, a boat trailer with brakes will have a hydraulic coupler. If this is the case, you will not need a brake controller. For a hitch, I would recommend the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13514. The ballmount needed will depend on the height of your boat trailer coupler when it is level. We have an online FAQ page that demonstrates how to correctly measure for the necessary rise or drop your ballmount will need. A 2 inch ball is the most common size, such as part # 19258....

  • Removing Rear Threshold Panel on a 2007 Nissan Xterra to Install Trailer Wiring Harness # 43605
When installing the Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 43605, on a 2007 Nissan Xterra, you can remove the panel using a tool called a trim panel removal tool like # PT73HJ or # ALL648544. The panel most likely snaps in and the tool essentially pries the snaps out of the holes. To replace it you will just need to align the snaps with the holes and push it down until it snaps into place. The panel will have to be removed in order to remove the left and right rear panels that block access...

  • Plug-N-Tow Vehicle Wiring Harness Vehicle Connection Location on a 2008 Nissan Xterra
Wiring harness # 43605 plugs in behind the taillights, with an additional wire run to front of the vehicle to connect to the battery. You can refer to your owner's manual for information on how to access behind the taillights, (search under how to change bulb). If your vehicle has the factory towing package, you need wiring harness 118263, the connection point on this harness runs along the frame on the driver's side. • Which Trailer Wiring Harness Fits a 2008 Nissan Xterra Without Tow Package
Because your vehicle did not come with a tow package, you will need the Plug-N-Tow Vehicle Wiring Harness # 43605. This will plug right in for you and give you that 4-pole hookup. This harness is a powered converter which draws power directly from the vehicle battery instead of through the wiring system. Connection points are located behind the vehicle tail lights. An additional wire will need to be run to the front of the vehicle to connect to the positive post of the battery.

  • Installation Instructions for Hoppy 43605 on a 2006 Nissan Xterra
The converter box should be mounted just below the left tail light. The connectors with the red and yellow wire go to the left tail light. The green wire connector would then run outside the vehicle, underneath, to the right light. The white ground wire can be mounted to any metal vehicle surface, preferably the frame. The converter box is sealed and will withstand exposure to the elements. That being said, I would not mount it in the wheel well or somewhere it would be constantly splashed...

  • Installing T-1 Harness, Part # 118263 on 2005 Xterra Without Tow Package
In order to use the T-1 Harness, part # 118263 on an Xterra without the factory tow package, in addition to the relay, you will also need the jumper harness. The harness is a dealer supplied part. Once you purchase the T-1, the relay, and the jumper harness you will have spent quite a few dollars, when you could purchase the Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 43605. You would spend a bit more time installing it, but it would probably be less expensive.

  • Is a Module Needed To Safely Install Trailer Lighting on a 2007 Nissan Xterra
Your local mechanic is more than likely correct. Newer vehicles have sensitive components and thinner wires than ever before and adding trailer wiring that is powered by the vehicle wiring can overload the wires or sensitive circuitry and cause any number of problems. The solution to your dilemma is a Modulite powered wiring harness. This type of harness is designed so that it uses the signal from the vehicle wiring to activate the trailer wiring functions, but the power is provided for...
