Installation Instructions for Hoppy 43605 on a 2006 Nissan Xterra
Question:
I have just purchased your Hoppy #43605 wiring kit for my 2006 Nissan Xterra. I was wondering where the converter mounts? Is there enough lead wire to mount it underneath the back and still reach all the connection points inside? Is it weatherproof enough to handle an exterior instal? I have also purchased the deluxe installation kit for my brake controller and was wondering of about an alternate routing of the four way flat cable of my 43605 wiring kit, or direct connection to the converter, for connection to the 7&4 way connector rather than just flopping out the back gate. Any help you can provide would be great. Really want this to be a sharp install.

The converter box should be mounted just below the left tail light. The connectors with the red and yellow wire go to the left tail light. The green wire connector would then run outside the vehicle, underneath, to the right light.
The white ground wire can be mounted to any metal vehicle surface, preferably the frame. The converter box is sealed and will withstand exposure to the elements. That being said, I would not mount it in the wheel well or somewhere it would be constantly splashed in wet conditions. The loose red power wire that is run up to the battery should have more than enough wire. Make sure you wrap the butt connector with electrical tape or heat shrink.
You could use something like mounting bracket, part # 18144, to mount the 4-Way underneath the vehicle. I see that you also ordered the 7-Way install kit, part # ETBC7. If the 4-Way converter box is mounted outside the vehicle, and you can mount the 7-Way close enough, you can plug in ETBC7 directly to the converter box and skip the 4-Way extension that came with the Hoppy part # 43605.
