2009 Ford Van - T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector

  • 4 Flat

Features:

  • Provides a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights
    • Compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters (sold separately)
  • Connects quickly and easily
    • Locate connection points behind tail lights
    • Plug in T-connector
    • Run hot lead to car battery
  • Includes ModuLite power module that connects directly to battery to avoid overloading vehicle's electrical system
  • Constructed of 16-gauge bonded wire
  • Comes with dust cap for 4-way flat connector

Specs:

  • Maximum amperage:
    • Stop/turn lights: 4.2 amps per circuit
    • Tail lights: 7.5 amps per circuit
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed either within your rear cargo area or beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure if you are mounting it near the hitch.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Power Module

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

the installation instructions were good with one exception. it was indicated to start wiring on the passenger side rear flasher and the feed the yellow line to the left flasher . However the wiring to go to the left was wired with a green wire. so what had to be done was i had to start the wiring on the left and run the green wired connector to the right side to facilitate the flashers working in sync with the trailers.

Sadly the harness quit working after about 6 months. I was really hoping to get a little more life out of the harness.

I am sorry to hear thar wiring harness is not working. A lot of the time the ground can because loose and if redone can fix the harness. I have a FAQ below that explains the other options to check with it.

Since I'm electronically challenged I am always a bit apprensive when it comes to electrical wiring. After watching your install video it was such an easy thing to do! Plug-n-play! The hardest part was fishing the hot wire up to the battery. (not the wire but getting my body to fit under the car. It took me about 45 minutes from start to finish. I have a small trailer that I will use from time to time so I needed a to install a receiver hitch ( 13650) and wire harness. This fills the bill for me!

I purchased this wiring kit along with a trailer hitch and have to say this wiring kit and instructions were real nice. High quality product that went on easily. Took about an hour to install and test. Worked wonderfully and the cost was real competitive. I would highly recommend this product and eTrailer.com for your trailer hitch needs. Great company to deal with from ordering on line to follow-up after the sale, just a great company to work with.

Love the hitch and wiring, use it all the time. Just hauled the trailer 159 miles last weekend and everything works well. Very happy.

The products look good and installed just fine. I towed my boat (about 2,000 lbs) one time with it before I blew the engine on my 2010 Lincoln MKX. My advice is make sure you have a good oil, cooler and transmission cooler and even then you never know with a used car.

I am new to car mod-ing and are very inexperienced when it comes to knowing exactly what product to get. This is where etrailer was pretty helpful. The videos are very helpful. The hitch was made to fit my specific vehicle (2011 Ford Escape). I also purchased the specific wiring the site said I needed due to having backup sensors on my vehicle.

However, after successfully installing the hitch, we realized there was a problem with the wiring. The yellow/black wires are meant for the driver's side taillights while the green is meant for the passenger. I'm not sure if I was sent the wrong product or if there was a manufacturing error, but the lengths of wire for each were switched.

The shorter length wires should have been the yellow and black while the long should have been green - instead, they were the opposite, as you can see in the pictures. The black box on the right is meant to be housed in the driver side light assembly, not the passenger. Because of this, I was forced to find a long white wire, fuse it with the ground wire that was supplied, and run it back across the width of my vehicle to the factory ground. While it seems like this won't be an issue, it was very annoying having to alleviate this problem.

Everything else seemed to be correct with the wiring and included items, but I would recommend that everyone inspect your order and watch all videos to make sure your product looks to be correct before attempting to install it.

2012 Ford Escape

At the same time as buying a hidden hitch, I bought the wiring kit as well. We watched the installation video, which was a big help, but we had to change the threading of the wiring to the front a bit since it wouldn't pass through one of the places shown in the video. Other than that, it went better than any other wiring job we have ever done and looks like a pro did it. We did not leave a pig tail wire to wad up and have to store like it was shown, but made a permanent hook-up at the hitch which looks much nicer.

2008 Lincoln MKX

Exact fitment of the harness to the lights and the installation was easy. The etrailer.com video was an excellent tool to use as it clarified certain steps in the provided paper instructions......Thanks etrailer.com. The T-one harness is just the opposite wiring set-up of the harness that is used in the video. I was able to use an existing floor body grommet plug to feed the black 12 gauge hot lead wire under the car(I drilled a 9/64th hole in the rubber grommet plug and feed the wire through the drilled hole). Running the hot lead wire to the front of the vehicle took some time (recommend ramps for better clearance). Hook-up of the fuse line and battery connection was elemental. All parts provided make the installation process very easy. The T-one harness is powering the trailer lights perfectly.

Bought with trailer hitch -2010 Escape- Good directions. Installed myself and used setup for 2k mile trip towing a Uhaul rental. Good security having the trailer wireing isolated from the auto circuitry. Web site insured I got the right product.

Tow hitch for '12 escape. Works awesome! Was tricky to install by myself, but figured out a way(all the videos showed a 2-man install). Easy to wire up. I use it almost daily.

by:
2012 Ford Escape

The kit is actually really easy to install. I was fussing around a little with feeding the wire back to the battery. I watched the video on it probably over a week before ordering. If you take your time, it can be routed, but I saw all the tie straps and figured strap it to everything they say to avoid instead. Lol I didn't have to drill a single hole with my 2012 Escape. The weather stripping is so thick. No exposure to weather for the 4 pin. Made more sense than not putting it in the side holder when not in use. The power pack sticks behind a trim panel too.

by:

So awsome part came early...box was fine prt was great...part fit great...and it works perfect..thank u very much

Works great. One fitment note for ford Vans with rear A/C. the A/C panel does not come off. Its Hot riveted in place. So you have two options. Pull seats and trim all the way out. Or break the panel off. I broke mine. the rivets broke easy and after install clear silicon re-attached the panel. I routed the 4 prong down the tire anti-theft plate. Making the install clean.

I will never deal with this company again. Delivery was extremely late. Tracking was impossible to find where it actually was. When I asked to get my money back they said since it was already shipped I had to wait till it arrived and then pay for it to get shipped back. I had to pay for the product to get over the boarder. I will never use this company nor will I tell someone else it's a professional establishment.

I am sorry about the confusion. For shipping to Canada, you will have to keep in mind that the quoted shipping costs does not include all brokerage fees and duties. Taxes are not included. All prices on our site are in US Funds. Your credit card company will convert the US charge to Canadian. This should have been stated clearly to you, and I am sorry if it was not. As for the delay in shipping time, if you are needing the product at a specific time frame, you should always use expedited shipping [especially when shipping internationally].

I ordered a # 118551 harness for my 2011 Ford Escape and It was easy to install with the instructions and the video links that were available. 5 stars

by:
2008 Ford Escape

I was a bit hesitant when it came to ordering the special harness for the Escape equipped with backup sensors (3x the price of the basic one & 3x the work to install), but it was pretty much confirmed: the non-towing equipped harness isn't designed to handle the extra load of trailer lights - so this kit gets it power from a beefy lead connected directly to the battery.
I have to say that crawling under the car, running this power lead from the d/s taillight to the battery was the biggest pain of the whole job - including installing the receiver, but I didn't have a choice.
etrailer's how-to video proved to be invaluable and a time-saver. Seeing the actual installation on my specific vehicle was huge. I used the video as the manual and read the manufacturers directions as backup.
Kudos to etrailer for putting together these videos and learning about the products that they sell.
Kind of like the Crutchfield of trailers, only better.
On another note, I inquired about shipping time and received a prompt email reply with a note about etrailer making sure that my receiver and harness would be shipped a.s.a.p. - which it was.

I really cant provide a one year later review - not because I sold the vehicle, but because it is now my daughters car and she never uses the vehicle to tow. She only uses the receiver for a Yakima bike rack. I believe that the finish on the receiver has held up well as the car has endured harsh elements here in the DC area they like their salt - especially this winter. Id be happy to take a look at the finish of the hitch in the Spring if you remind me to do so.

2012 Ford Escape

A true "Plug-and-Play" harness that was easy to order, came to my door quickly and best of all was easy to install on my 2012 Ford escape. I'm not an electrical person at all and considered taking my car to the dealer, when I saw the price they wanted, more than $500, it was a no brainer. I was initially worried about installing it myself, but looking it over and looking at the simple instructions that included photos, I did it in about 3 hours, again, I took my time, took a lot of breaks, and did a lot of extras like my own larger zip ties, dielectric grease, hiding all the wires, mounting the 4 pin to 7 blade converter female end electric connection to the hitch, etc... It all worked perfectly! My only complaint, if you really want to call it that, is that the tiny zip ties provided are nowhere near what is needed to do the job right, get a pack of larger zip ties, ones that are about 10 inches long, before installing this harness, it will make it SO much easier and look SO much better.

After a year its all good! It all works perfectly and still looks great. Im not worried at all when we plug in the trailer and do a light check. If I can do it, anybody can do it, its that easy.

2009 Ford Edge

Nothing but props for the folks at etrailer. My hitch receiver for our 2009 Ford Edge arrived a day earlier than I had expected. First time installing one of these and it wasn't too bad but would have been way better with a second set of hands. Got it all in and lined up only to discover one of the rectangular washers was missing from the hardware kit. Fearing the worst, I sent them an email and to my surprise I got an answer within 30 minutes on a Saturday no less. No hoops to jump through or long drawn out procedures. They got my part ordered to ship out and it was here by midweek. Great customer service is what it's all about. Problems arise but the true colors come out by how a company chooses to respond to even a little thing like a missing washer. Thank you etrailer! You have my business again when it's needed and I'll be recommending you when friends ask where to go.

I have installed this Harness in place of a harness that I purchased that I purchased from eTrailer two years ago. As I have just installed this all I can say is that so far it works as it is supposed to. My hope is that it lasts longer than just two years. My tow vehical is a 2010, the first harness was dealer installed and it lasted about sixteen months, with both failures, I checked the trailer wiring and found no problems and in each case the harness failed without the trailer being connected. So I do hope that you have corrected what ever the problem was as I am getting tired of paying out $70.00 every two years for something that should last much longer.

Jeff C.

12/18/2015

I had exactly the same experience. It all worked fine after I installed it and then some months later when I bought a trailer and hooked it up, it was dead. Never did get to use it. Now I have to take everything apart and remove the harness. I dont plan to put in another one.
