Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and today we're taking a look at the AceCamp Folding Mini-Shovel.So as you can see, I have this case on my belt. It does have a loop at the back so you can just easily run your belt through that and keep it at hand's reach anytime you need that little mini shovel. It does kind of catch on the sides of that, but inaudible 00:00:23 easy to take that out and fold it out to make use of that little shovel. It's pretty compact and lightweight. It is made of a stainless steel construction so it shouldn't have any issues with rust or corrosion, so it should last for a long time. Really nice and sturdy.
The way it clips in here at the handle takes some force to get that to collapse down, so I don't think it's going to snap out on you anytime soon. It kind of compresses those two pieces, so it holds in there really well. The trowel edge looks like it has a little bit of a bevel to it, so it should give you a nice sharp edge to work with. Get a little closer there so you can see that maybe. I think that's going to do a good job of chipping through any kind of hard ice or compacted soil. So you can dig a hole for a latrine or do a little maintenance around your campsite, dig up some roots and things like that.
Should make an easy item to have with you.As far as the measurements, whenever this is folded down, it's about 5-3/4" long from the end of the handle to this portion back here. And then its widest point, that little hinge point, that's about 2-1/2". And the depth is roughly 7/8" or just under an inch. It does feel pretty light and this weighs 3.5 oz or 3-1/2 oz. Whenever we fold this all the way out, give you the length here, so now our longest portion is about 9".
Yeah, I'd say right at 9" there. The trowel is about 2-1/4 across. The handle, usable portion of the handle before we get up to this piece here, it's about 3-1/2" long. So it definitely gives you a good amount of length to grip. It is a little narrow, so it might not be the most comfortable trowel to use if you're really digging a lot.
But in that case, you'd probably move to a bigger shovel if you're doing a really a big job.The case is pretty nice. I think it's easiest if you turn the hard side or the trowel side to the outside so that you can snap that button closed over that. If you put it the other way, it doesn't have anything to push against, so makes it a little hard to snap in place. This is just a soft, nylon material, so fits easily on your belt, stays out of the way, and it should be pretty comfortable to have with you while you're hiking or camping just about anywhere in the world. Thanks for watching, and that's going to do it for our look at the AceCamp Folding Mini-Shovel.
