Hey everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're taking a quick look at the GSI outdoors enamel tea kettle. This is going to help to be a great way to boil up some water while you're out at the campsite so you can make your favorite cup of tea, maybe have some fresh hot water to wash it and kind of dishes, or just to have that hot water again for making coffee or tea or anything else. You can use this for indoor or outdoor use. And it's just got that nice kind of vintage feel with the speckle enamel design here. It should be a really long lasting coating for this to keep it looking nice, keep it pretty durable.
The handle does fold down to make it a little bit more compact for storage. Some of it's going to be a bit clunky for any kind of backpacking, but something that if you're going to be doing car camping or just roughing it in a cabin or something like that, it should be pretty nice to have.So I'm going to give you a couple of measurements, just to give you an idea of the size of this kettle. It does hold up to eight, excuse me, 10 cups, and it measures, with the handle up about 10 inches high, with the spout going off to the one side it's about 10 inches, maybe nine and three quarter inches wide. If we flip it over, the diameter here, it's about eight and a half inches. The height is about five and a half inches.
With the lid in place, it's about six and a half I'd say. Again with the handle up, it's about 10. So all in all, it's not huge. It weighs a little over a pound, so it doesn't take up too much weight for carrying around. The handle does have that coil designed to help dissipate heat so it shouldn't be super hot whenever you go to grab that. Of course, it's never a bad idea just to have some kind of oven mitt or a potholder, bandana or something else whenever you go to grab that, just to make sure that you don't end up singing yourself, but it shouldn't be too bad.
Especially if you're going to go to open the lid itself, that's when you really would want to use some caution. But overall, should be pretty nice, long-lasting kettle. The one thing that I don't particularly like is that it doesn't have any kind of whistle. So it doesn't give you that indicator of when the water's boiling. But if you just listen for the sound inside the kettle, look for the steam, that should give you the indication.
But that's just one little thing that I did notice. That's pretty much it for our quick look at the GSI tea kettle. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right choice for you. We do have a lot of other outdoor wear and gear here at etrailer.com, along with a whole bunch of other kinds of accessories and parts. So be sure to check them out. Thanks for watching.
