Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're going to be taking a quick look at the Seaflo Deck Plate. This gives you an easy way to create an access door to an otherwise hard to reach area, or just give you access in and out of a storage compartment. Maybe if you want to use this on an RV, you've got a plug or a port that you want to get to, we don't want to go underneath the RV, you can go through a storage compartment and run your cable or your hose through there and prevent it from having too much stress or strain being put on it by having to go just directly to that port or socket.Maybe if you want to put this on a boat, it helps you to get access to any equipment that you might need to service, get access to an area that you might need to be able to clean-out or something like that, so you can create this hole and then have an easy way to close it back up again. You could also use this in an area where you might want to be able to walk over it as well. It's a nice low-profile design made of a sturdy ABS plastic, so it's impact resistant and shouldn't cause any issues there.Let's take a closer look and talk about the dimensions to make sure that it's the right size for you. This does also come in black.

This is of course the white version. It does have a diamond pattern to the plastic up at the top, so it helps to give it a non-slip surface, especially nice if you are putting this in an area where somebody's going to be walking on top of it. From the outer edge to the same store 00:01:27 on the other side, it's about nine and three quarter inches in diameter.The inner diameter, so as far as what could actually fit inside here, it's about seven and a quarter inch. It is rated at eight inches, but really it's more like seven, as far as what you can solidly fit inside. The cutout diameter is a little closer, that's about seven and three quarter inches.

The depth of the plate overall is about an inch and an eighth. As far as what you'd actually be walking on, or that would be showing above the surface, it's about a quarter of an inch thick.This does not come with any mounting hardware, and if you are going to be putting it in a spot where you'd want it to stay nice and flush, I would get some tapered flathead screws since that's what's going to fit in here, and keep that nice low profile design. It doesn't come with any, but that's something to consider. There are six mounting holes. Also, if you want this to be water tight, I think the door, as far as being sealed up, would probably be all right if you make sure that you tighten it down.You could maybe put something inside the lip here to make that watertight, but as far as the opening itself or the cutout, I would put some butyl tape behind that to really make it watertight, that draws down in as you put the mounting hardware in there.

It's going to seal up the edge, but it'll also seal up those hardware spots as well. There are ridges here to help create a nice barrier as well, so just something to consider, if you want it to stay watertight.That's about all there is to it for our look at the Seaflo Deck Plate.
