Ellen: Hey everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a quick look at the SEAFLO deck plate. This gives you an easy access door to some areas that might otherwise be hard to get to. You can use this for boats, RVs, or really anywhere that you want to have that easy-open door. You can just put this on an area, drill out your hole and be able to get inside. For RVs, maybe you have a port or a plug that you're trying to get to, and you don't want to have to go underneath and put too much strain on your hose or your socket or your cable.

This allows you to go through a compartment instead and rest that cable along that. It can help to keep that plug working longer, help to relieve stress and strain on that cable.For boats, if you want to do any kind of maintenance to any equipment, maybe have an area where things get gunked up, but you want to be able to go in and clean it out, this can give you that access point. It just comes as the ring and the lid. Let's take a closer look and make sure that this is going to be the right fit for you. It is made of ABS plastic, so it should be pretty UV and impact-resistant.

On the underside, you can see it has a design with some ridges to help keep water out from getting in around that circle. But, if you really want this to be water tight, I would add a gasket, maybe some foam or butyl tape.We have lots of butyl tape here at etrailer.com. If you're an RVer you should be familiar with it. If you're not sure how to spell that, that's B-U-T-Y-L, butyl tape, and it just helps to create a nice watertight seal, especially underneath anywhere that you're going to be putting in screws or you're mounting hardware, because that it will be drawn down into the hole and help to plug that up, so you don't have to worry about those holes being access to water as well. It can keep everything nice and watertight.

As far as the size, from outside edge to outside edge, it's about 7-3/4 inches in diameter. The opening here, what we can actually fit inside, is about 6 inches in diameter. That's what could actually fit through the opening. The depth of the piece here is about an inch, maybe 1-1/8. As far as what's going to sit above the place where we're mounting it, it's about 1/4 inch.If you're putting this in an area where people are going to be stepping over it, only about a quarter of an inch will show, so it shouldn't be a tripping hazard.

You will want to use some tapered flathead screws to make sure that, that maintains that low-profile design. It doesn't come with any mounting hardware. It really just depends on what you're going to be mounting this to. You will have to pick that up on your own, as well as any kind of gasket or butyl tape to keep it sealed up.
