Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this OptiMate 6 Select nine-step, AC to DC, 12 volt smart battery charger and maintainer. Now, this is a nice compact smart charger, which will draw power from your AC wall outlet to automatically charge and maintain batteries on your cars, your trucks, RVs, motorcycles, and even boats. This one is designed to work with 12 volt standard AGM, gel, EFP and the deep cycle lead-acid batteries. Does offer multiple battery profiles that'll let you charge a variety of lead-acid battery types at different voltages.

Now, this does have a nine-step charging algorithm, which will automatically charge and maintain without overcharging. Basically, it'll analyze your battery condition, provide a customized charge. Has a built-in battery desulfator, which restores lost battery capacity. It will even save sulfated batteries at low as .5 volts. Does also test automatically and indicate if there's a battery problem, and it'll adjust the voltage based on temperature.

Does have a power supply mode, which will provide constant power for vehicle tuning, diagnostics and troubleshooting. And it has an ampmatic charge, which will determine your battery size and adjust the charging current to suit your battery. Now, it does connect to your battery with two different options they give you here. First one is your normal battery clamps. That's your quickest and easiest way to connect to your battery.

Just clamp it onto the battery post, and then plug this SAE connector into the charger SAE connector and you're ready to go. Total length on this cord is about 20 inches. The other way is a little more permanent solution. It uses these eyelets that'll let you make a secure connection to your battery terminals. And it has an inline fuse holder.

It's a 15 amp fuse holder that'll protect your electronics from potential short circuits. And it also has an SAE connector to connect to your charger, but because this is gonna be more permanent, it has a nice weatherproof seal on it and a nice dust cap that'll keep out any dirt and water. And the same, length on this one is about 20 inches. Now, this is a very simple operation. It uses the LED lights that'll indicate the charging status. Has an auto-memory feature, which will remember the last selection if power is lost. The case this charger is in is a nice, durable weatherproof case. It includes two wall mounts on the bottom, two on the top. Comes with a six foot long AC supply lead and a six foot long charge lead that has the SAE connector on it. Also, what's neat is they do include an instruction booklet. But also, if you don't have that booklet handy, there's a QR code that's on the charger that you can scan it with your phone or any device, and it'll bring up the instructions if you need them right away. Application again, it's for 12 volt batteries from three to 240 amp hours. The battery types, again, it supports is standard AGM, gel, EFP and deep cycle.
