NOCO GEN5x2 On-Board Marine Battery Charger Diagram

The rugged NOCO Genius GEN series on-board smart charger quickly charges and maintains up to (2) 12-volt lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries, simultaneously. Multiple battery banks efficiently charge deep cycle and starter batteries up to 120 amp-hours. It's great for boats, trolling motors, generators, and a wide range of electric vehicles and industrial equipment. With a fully submersible design, this smart charger was built to handle harsh marine environments, while keeping your batteries in peak condition.

User-Friendly Interface with LED Indicators

NOCO Genius GEN5X2 LED Charging Indicators

This Genius smart charger was designed to provide a simple, user-friendly experience. The mode buttons allow you to easily cycle through the unit's charge settings on each connection. Back-lit LED indicators let you verify that the unit is operating correctly, and they allow it to be easily operated at night. These indicators signal the unit's charge status, selected charging mode, and alert you to potential performance issues or errors.

NOCO Genius GEN5X2 Advanced Battery Error Diagnostics

These indicators allow you to quickly identify a problem with the battery or connection. So you don't have to waste time guessing if the battery voltage is too high or too low for your selected mode, or worry about damage from a reversed polarity connection to a battery.

4 Battery Charging Modes for 12V Batteries

NOCO Genius GEN5X2 Genius Battery Charger Charging Modes Explained

This Genius smart charger has 4 selectable charging modes that let you quickly switch between charging different lead-acid and lithium-ion battery types. Traditional battery chargers generally only work with a specific voltage or battery type, like lithium-ion or AGM batteries, or only in special circumstances like charging in cold environments. This NOCO charger gives you the versatility to tackle different battery types and charging situations in one charger.

The charger works with 12V wet cell, gel cell, enhanced flooded, calcium, maintenance free, AGM, and lithium-ion batteries with battery management systems (BMS). A built-in battery desulfator restores lost capacity to sulfated and old batteries.

Heavy-Duty Eyelet Connectors

2 Sets of 3/8" eyelets connect the charger to your batteries. Over-molded connection points stand up to heavy usage and keep connections safe from the elements. Built-in 7.5-amp fuses protect each connection against dangerous overcurrent.

Quickly Charge and Maintain Batteries from 120V to 240V AC Power Source

This Genius charger plugs into an available wall outlet to quickly charge and maintain multiple batteries. High-frequency switch-mode technology converts AC power into safe DC power to fully charge batteries. An onboard microcomputer monitors and controls this charging process to minimize power loss and maximize efficiency. Included hardware lets you mount the unit in an enclosed compartment, garage, or workspace.

NOCO GEN5x2 On-board Battery Charger Charging Times Diagram

The table above provides a quick reference for how long it will take the unit to charge batteries with various amp-hours.

Rugged Submersible Design

NOCO GEN5x2 Waterproof and Ignition Proof Design

This on-board charger was built to handle extreme marine conditions. The unit has an IP68 rating, which means it can handle being fully submerged in water, and it's protected against solid particles like dust or sand. Its ignition protected for safe and worry-free operation around marine engine compartments and fuel tank spaces. Saltwater won't cause issues either. The charger has been thoroughly tested to resist corrosion.

The housing is made from tough Lexan resin that protects the internal electronics against vibration and impacts. The unit can handle being dropped, kicked over, and just about anything else your day brings.

AC Port Plug for Plug-and-Play Charging

NOCO GEN Series GCP AC Port Accessory

Available AC port plugs (sold separately) from NOCO let you easily setup your GEN series charger for plug-and-play charging with any extension cord. The plug creates a "pass through" AC charging port on a surface, so you can quickly connect to the charger when it's mounted inside a compartment on a truck, boat, trailer or RV. This allows you to easily access the charger for charging engine block heaters, trolling motors, batteries, and other equipment. A snap-fit cap creates a watertight seal to protect the connection whenever you're done.

  • Can I Power Lights With Breakaway Battery
You can use a bigger battery with your breakaway to power the lights on your trailer without being plugged into the truck. We do recommend to have a separate battery for the breakaway switch and an auxiliary battery for the lights on your trailer because if the battery ever drains it is dangerous to not have your breakaway switch active. I recommend to give an auxiliary battery, wire the lights to a switch and then the battery. You can charge the battery with an AC to DC charger like NOCO...

  • Can Noco Genius Charger for Trolling Motors Connect to 24 Volt Battery Bank
If your batteries are wired up so that they put out 24 volts to your trolling motor (in series) then you'd have to disconnect all the batteries to use the Noco Genius part # NOC34FR. If instead they are in parallel and the output is 12 volts you can leave them connected when attaching the part # NOC34FR.

  • Motorhome Deep Cycle Battery and Solar Panel Charging Connections in Parallel for 12 Volts
Wiring batteries in parallel allows you to get additional amperage like you are wanting without changing the voltage. So you do need to wire you new "battery bank" in parallel so that they output voltage is 12 volts and matches your motorhome. I attached a picture that shows difference between wiring batteries in parallel and in series. You do basically just need two jumper wires with a heavier gauge like 00 to make the connections. If your solar charger setup just has two wires to run...

  • Using NOCO 2 Bank Charger With Parallel Batteries in Truck
Yes, you can use the NOCO GEN On-Board Battery Charger # NOC34FR on your pickup's parallel batteries without disconnecting them. If your batteries were in a series, they would have to be disconnected. Since your batteries are parallel and maintain a 12v load but have increased amp capacity, then it is actually ideal to have both of them charging with these banks. Just make sure each bank is connected to its own 12V battery. One thing to note is that the NOCO Gen5x2 # NOC34FR is the mini...

  • Methods for Powering Electric Winches
Winch makers usually provide guidance about the required power to operate their winches to their fullest capacity. For example, the 3000-lb-rated Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Winch # DL25010 will require 70-amps of battery current to deliver its full capacity. A battery with less output capacity may still adequately operate the winch with lighter loads on it but will not be able to operate the winch under a full load. A battery charger like NOCO # NOC34FR is designed to deliver slow,...

  • Will 12 Volt Feed from 7-Way on Tow Vehicle Overcharge Trailer Auxiliary Battery
It's impossible for your trailer-mounted auxiliary battery to be overcharged by the vehicle battery via the 12 volt feed on the 7-way since it only passes through a low current trickle-type charge. In fact, this is only enough for a maintenance charge - if your trailer battery is completely depleted, this method of battery charging will not provide a full re-charge. For that, you need to use a battery charger like # 329-GEN1. The battery isolator solenoid # PK5231201 along with the fuse...

  • Recommended Chargers for 4 Battery and 2 Battery Banks on 2004 Discovery 39 Class A Diesel
To charge the 4 battery bank on your 2004 Discovery 39 I recommend using the NOCO GENPRO On-Board Battery Charger - AC to DC - Waterproof - 4 Bank - 12V - 40 Amp # NOC84FR, which will charge batteries rated for up to 230 amp hours. You can also add the NOCO AC Port Plug with Extension Cord - 16" Long # 329-GCP1 to this setup to allow you to plug an extension directly into the coach since this setup will likely be stored in a cargo hold, out of the elements. For your engine batteries,...

  • Things To Know When Charging Trailer Battery From Vehicle 7-Way Trailer Connection
Your trailer battery can be charged by the 7-Way 12V blade. This is a maintenance charge only, so if you have a dead battery, you would still need to connect it to a standard battery charger like the NOCO Genius # NOC34FR to get a decent base charge. The amperage delivered to your trailer will vary based on your vehicle alternator. Most alternators will run about 14 amps so what is not required to charge your vehicle battery will be sent to your trailer battery. If you run a direct...

  • Can Auxiliary Battery Be Charged With 7-Way Trailer Connector On 2015 Toyota Tundra
The amount of power you get from the 7-way plug on the back of your 2015 Tundra will give enough power to maintain a charge on the auxiliary battery but will not charge it. If you are wanting to charge an auxiliary battery without a 110 service you can use a charger like part # 331-BCDC1225D. This charger can use up to two 12V sources like an alternator or solar panel to charge an aux battery. If you prefer charging the battery with a 110 service I recommend the NOCO Genius Mini # NOC34FR.

  • Is the NOCO Genius GEN5X2 Mini Charger Safe To Mount In an Engine Compartment?
I recommend going with the NOCO Genius Multi-Bank Smart Battery Charger # NOC24FR for your Ram truck. The NOCO Genius GEN5X2 # NOC34FR has a maximum storage temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit and should not be mounted where it might collect dust. As your engine bay can exceed this temperature and collect dust this would not be a good option. • Can Two 6 Volt batteries Connected in Series be Charged at the Same Time
Yes, you can charge multiple batteries simultaneously while wired together in series or parallel as long as your charger works at the final output voltage of your battery bank, and the charger is designed for the final output amp hours (Ah). For instance, if you have two # BRW74FR batteries rated for 6 volts and 220Ah, then you can connect them in parallel for a 2-battery bank that is 6 volts and 440Ah. If your batteries are under 200 amp hours, I recommend the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger - Dual Input - DC to DC - 12V/24V - 25 Amp # 331-BCDC1225D and if they are over 200 amp hours then you will want # 331-BCDC1240D.
